Mostly finished my build over the weekend. Still needs a fan controller and LEDs... cables will be rerouted a little when the fan controller gets setup.

Nice, love the blue. This is the exact case I was looking at for my Linux Box.

Just wanted to clear up a huge misconception that I see floating around forums, specifically threads where a lot of photos are posted. People always preface their posts with "Sorry, forgive the cellphone pics"

Here's the thing, you'd be amazed at the picture quality capabilities of most current gen smart phones. The problem isn't the capabilities of your camera, you don't need a DSLR to take awesome shots. You need to have the right lighting.

I used to think my Iphone4 camera was awful, until one day I took some shots in sunlight, and the results were amazing, no graininess could be found. Even some cheap "Umbrella lamps" will do your photography wonders with a Galaxy S*/iPhone camera

Your rig looks pretty good, i'm a fan of Fractal cases. I need to move my htpc into one.
You should post the specs on that beast.

Thanks! Yeah, this is my first Fractal case and aside from a couple of quirks (came with wrong MB standoff screw size, scuff marks on one of the panels, mic/audio in wires were reversed), I've been very pleased with the size and the layout of the case. Their support was extremely responsive in resolving the aforementioned issues.

Anyways, the specs are:

Fractal Design XL R2
Intel Core i7-3960x
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
16 GB (4x4GB) Mushkin Enhanced Blackline DDR3 1600 MHz
3-Way SLI GeForce GTX Titan
Creative Sound Blaster ZxR
1 x Samsung 840 Pro 512GB
3 x Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB
Corsair H110
3 x Noctua NF-A14 ULN 140mm Fans
2 x Noctua NF-A14 FLX 140mm Fans

Nice setup! Is this Noctua/Define combo REALLY silent? I see you have many fans and I am quite unhappy with the noise my 650D makes under load with the stock 200mm fans... I tried disabling the 120mm on the back but still not as silent as I wanted it to be.

Also, if it's not asking too much, could you post (or PM me) some temps? :D

I'd say it's silent enough for me but then I have a decent amount of ambient noise when the AC is on. Even with the AC off, it's pretty decent. It's definitely noticeable when the system is running but I think the sound output is reasonable considering the specs.

I've configured the system to reach lower noise levels, which means everything is stock and the fan speeds are capped well below their max RPM. Idle CPU temps range from 28-33 C and the GPUs are in the mid 30s (except for the master, which never seems to downclock). Load temps are around 59-61 C for the CPU and 80s C for the GPU. I can PM you if you're looking for more info.

And yes, I'm looking for new case. Define R4 would be nice. Does anyone know if I can make the fan controller to go deep enough so that the front panel doesn't interfere with it?

Dude, you stole my PC. :) Mine's looks to be in the same shape as yours, well except your USB headers are intact and mines aren't. Love the case but I can't get replacements for them and I think it's time I replace the beast.

Ran previously similar looking controller in R3 with ease.

Those knobs are bit over 1cm tall. Judging by pics the panel would basically touch DVD drive so it shouldn't be possible to close it unless it is possible to make it go deeper. I guess it is possible though (it's possible in Antec 300) and by the looks of it Define has some flexibility:

I'd love to get the white variant.

Rig is in my sig, built a few years ago. Upgrading soon I hope.

So I moved from a cheap case to a Fractal Design Midi R2... They had an open box one for sale because of a slight scratch on the window...

It is a beginning and I went for cleanliness. Water cooling is definitely coming in the future. Seeing some cases mods here with copper and stainless tubing have me thinking.. (I'm a pipefitter in a part time trade.)

Here is my current machine right after I installed the sound card a few days ago.

Nothing special, just moved my parents rig from a Lian-Li Lancool PC-K62 to a Corsair Vengeance C70.

Did a couple of heatsink and fan upgrades this past week. I was originally going to go WC'd, but I ended up nixing that idea and decided to put that money else where.

Note: this pic was taken with a potato (ie my phone). I wish I owned a decent point and shoot, but I would rarely use it :(

What I did:
- Replaced the Cooler Master Gemini II S254 I was using as an interim cooling solution with a Megahalems black edition and a Corsair SP120 HP (PWM)
- Replaced the heat sink on my 7870 with a Prolimatech MK-26 and two Corsair SP120 QEs (PWM)
- Two Corsair AF120 QEs in front and one in back.

Overall, my goal was a quiet system, even under load, which I think I've achieved. I was worried the MK-26 was going to sag my graphics card to an uncomfortable degree and was planning on implementing some sort of support, but luckily the card bends only ever-so-slightly than it did with the stock solution.

The MK-26 performs phenomenally: 27C idle and 55C under full load (the stock heat sink would hover around 65-75C under full load). The best part is, the fans hardly spin up higher than 45%... waaaay quieter than the fans on the Twin Frozr setup.

My current setup.

Spec is.

i7 3770k @4.5ghz
Asus P8 Z77 V Pro
8gb samsung green @2133mhz 9-10-10-21 1T
Gtx 670 wf x3 sli
Asus xonar DX
Alpenfohn k2 mout doom cpu cooler
Bitfenix shinobi xl
Corsair hx 850w psu.

Switching the board and cpu to a 4770k and either the maximus VI hero/formula in a few days. Need to see which board will work best with my card setup.

3x780s custom water loop. all wrapped up in a 900d. 3 dell 3008wfp monitors wall mounted for easy landscape to portrait mode switching. 2 corsair ssd in raid 0.3930k runing on an asus rog iv extreme.

corsair ax1200 powing the rig. I have had to rma the power supply once. Will need to get a bigger power supply I fear.

The builds I'm seeing on this thread look amazing.

I recently upgraded my mobo/cpu/ram and hdd. My current specs are

Lian Li PC-V1100B with usb 3.0 retrofit
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 (before OCZ bought them)
Intel i5-3570K ES
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
8GB Corsair Vengance DDR3 1600 CL 9
Gigabyte GTX 660Ti OC 3GB
X-Fi Elite Pro
Samsung 840 250GB SSD
WD 1TB drive
Samsung 500GB drive

Cooling
D-Tek Fuzion v1 with LGA1155 adaptor
XSPC D5 Dual Bay Reservoir
Thermochill PA 120.3
1/2" Norprene A-60-G
Yate Loon silent fans all around

With the fans running at 50%, my computer is essentially silent.
