I upgraded from my Sapphire 4850x2 2GB card to Gigabyte's 770 4GB card.

Good lord, what a jump in performance.

I currently game at 1920x1200 on a 24" LG 246W. I plan on upgrading to a 27" or 30" in the next year or two.

What do you guys recommend I try benchmarking this card with? I know of 3DMark from the past decade and I've heard about Unigine Heaven. Is there anything else you recommend? I've oc'd stuff in the past and I'd like to get some stuff that will press the card to see what sort of OC peaks I can hit with this specific card.

So far I'm very happy with the card. I don't have very many new games but everything I've played seems to be able to be maxed out completely without any slowdowns.

If any of you want me to run any tests or report about anything in particular for this card, just reply to this thread and I'll try to give whatever feedback I can.

For graphics stability I usually run what you already have, 3dmark and heaven (or the new one...valley I think). If it passes both of those with no artifacts, then I jump into gaming to see how stable it is there. If all is well, then I'm happy.

Grats on the new card. I think you will be very happy.

Oh, neat. I didn't see Valley. I'll try that when I get home from work, too.

So far I'm also incredibly impressed with how quiet the card fans can remain even after hours of gaming. When I first powered on the system I thought something was wrong because I didn't hear anything.

Yeah I'm loving mine too. I get it stable at 1306 core on benchmarks, but in games have to back it down to 1293 or even 1280, but even so it runs everything great. playing tomb raider now, with tressfx off and fxaa and it stays pegged at 60fps. I don't feel like I'm missing anything with tressfx off so to me it's perfect and looks fantastic. Great card for the price, congrats.

I have the card too but I get coil whine. Do you guys hear coil whine at all? I especially get it during the first benchmark of the newest 3dmark (ice storm).

What should I be listening for? A super high pitch whistling/whine? Is it very faint or very noticeable?

Depends on the card it can sound different. Usually high pitched or sometimes an electrical buzzing noise. Can usually hear it in the first 3dmark test (ice storm). Thanks

I get 7400 in the firestrike test on "normal" (not extreme, only have free version) with my 4770k and the 4gb gtx 770 both at stock speeds if u want to compare. I came from a 9800gtx and I game at 1920x1200 also and it is an AMAZING card! You're right it is a very very quiet card and temps stay around 60-70 degrees at load depending on the game. The loudest thing in my PC is my old mechanical hard drive (besides my power supply but I'm replacing that with a seasonic semi fanless PSU). I hope you enjoy yours!

I'm still on my i7 920 so I'm looking forward to seeing how dramatically the CPU impacts performance.

The first time I noticed it in a system I had it sounded like a ringing in my ears.

I didn't hear any whine when running tests. I didn't put my head close to the case though, but it was open and on the floor.

If I recall correctly I got 6400 or 6700 on firestrike non-extreme. I checked other results online and it seems like driver versions definitely have an impact because other machines nearly identical to mine were getting scores in the 7k range.

In any case, I bet that 4770k does help quite a bit. =)
