[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

How much does the Titan stick out from the metal that people cut off? Are there more than 2mm space between the metal and the plastic?

EDIT: I did read 7 mm somewhere now, can this be right?
I was doing some math, and came up with this
Max length for GPU's: 262 mm
Titan GPU length: 266.7 mm
Metal thickness: 1 mm(?)
266.7-262-1=3,7 mm on the opposite side of the metal facing the plastic front

Anyone who can confirm this?

I just measured it. The plastic front panel has a recess of about 6mm. The steel frame is 0.6mm. So you've got about 268.6mm maximum GPU length if you cut through the frame.

Thanks again! Will help alot with my project :)

How is the titan/gtx 780 cooler's air intake positioned in reference to the vent holes in the side panel of the sg05? By just looking at pictures of the two it looks like they may be misaligned, will this starve the videocard from intaking enough air or does it work just fine? Thanks :).

The vent holes go up to about 50mm / 2 inches from the front of the case, so cooler is well positioned at the end of the openings.

So I was wondering if I mounted a 3.5 hard drive in this position by drilling a hole where the green dot is, will the empty space between the graphics card and the hard drive get too hot?

BUUR3E6.jpg

Yep, that's a hot spot, better hang a 3.5" drive on the other side of the case, e.g. from the right top brace

I don't think there is room because I have a Corsair H60 inside. I may have to delay the build and acquire a 2.5" drive that will fit with little to no effort in many different places inside :(

if you're not using an optical drive you can hang the 3.5" drive between the two top rails.

Just for future reference, the SG06 front panel has 15mm of room inside it. That yields a maximum length of 277.6mm, but actually getting a long card in there might be tricky. Making a big cut out out starting at the existing fan cut out would probably allow most to swing into place. Or some cards might be able to be installed by taking the cooler off and putting it into place first.

But with the SG06 there is that diagonal part, won't that hit the top corner of the GPU? Making it less than 15mm?

Does anyone know if the Silverstone NT-06 will work with any of the new Haswell ITX Motherboards in the SG05? If so, which ones? I am putting a build together, and this seems to be the best cooler to use with the SG05.

Yes it will work. Motherboards using LGA 1156 (Lynnfield and Clarkdale), 1155 (Sandy and Ivy Bridge) and 1150 (Haswell and Broadwell) all have the same mounting holes.

Socket compatibility is not what I am worried about. I am worried about the socket location compared to the pcie slot and other clearance issues.

Hey guys first time poster.

First new computer in years, SFF finally potent enough for a main system imo.

Intel 4770k @ 4.2ghz (so far)
Asrock Z87E-ITX
16GB Corsair Ballistix LP
Corsair H80i
Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD
Travelstar 5K1000 1TB HD
Roswill 3.5 to 2.5in adapter (Taped to bottom of PSU)

In an SG05 (obviously) w/ 450W PSU

Still waiting on a blower style GPU that I like and will fit the case. Had to RMA the 7950 I bought, don't know why I thought it would fit.

/e oh, credit to neipster's (think thats how its spelled) build on page 91 as the inspiration for this setup :)

Why don't you try to fit the entire H80i inside the case? Elsewhere on this forum I found a picture of someone fitting an H80 (not H80i, but the two models have the same radiator and fan depths, so it shouldn't matter much)

I actually like how it looks with the fan coming out the front. Like a mustang with a supercharger sticking out of the hood :)

Also looks like that is pushing on his ram to my eyes.

Since you have that Asrock mobo, the cooler could only push up onto those cables; the RAM is further back.

But if you like the look then that's fine with me

just wanna share..

Hello Gentlemen, just some photos of my build.

Hi Xeepsn,

I see you have a nice build,

did you need to do any cutting or modding to fit the gtx 760 twin frozr. MSI list its length as 260mm, and i understand SG05 has 262mm of internal length. Is MSIs measurement of 260 accurate?

I want to buy a 770 twinfrozr and it has the same listed 260mm. Hope i can fit it without modding

I can confirm that the MSI 760 with the twin frozr will fit in the SG05 without any modding. I would say that the 260mm measurement is accurate. It is a tight fit, but it fits. There is no more than 2mm to spare.

that should mean a 770 should fit too, it has the same official measurement of 260mm, does a h60 or h80 interfere with the gpu? dual fan or single?

There is an SG05 mod I have not seen yet I may attempt. I hate the fan noise video cards create.. some are very good and some are just bad. The fan on my MSI 7790 crackles so its annoying. I have a Noctua 120mm PWM fan coming I plan on mounting to the side of the card where it can pull the cool air in from the side of hte case. I am hoping it fits but seeing as I have not see it done yet I can only hope! I also picked up a Noise Blocker 80mm thin fan to put inside that 300W psu.. The stock fan is started to rattle. I would love to see how much some have managed to run off the 300W psu the case came with. My AMD 7790 with an i3 2125 is holding up just fine.

Has anyone tried the Cooler Master Vortex Plus on an H55 board?

cmvortexplus_pspc.jpg

Its 84mm w/ the 25mm thick fan. If you can find a 92mm x20mm fan, you're golden!

This fits with the stock fan but its very close with the PSU covering about half the fan.. Even at that my temps peak at 61C with an i3 2125 and Prime95. I ordered the 92x14mm Noctua fan to put on it instead. I would flip your PSU if running this cooler. I know some flip the heatsink fan to blow into the PSU but I don't care to add any extra heat into my PSU since im already tasking it pretty hard with an AMD 7790. The front 120mm fan should be creating some positive pressure that would push the heat out through the side and top vents.

Really overdue, but I finally got all my parts ordered and they arrived today. It was a bit more expensive than what I originally planned. The 670 mini and Impact bumped up the price a bit, but meh. Just have to pick up an OS now.

Bought one of these when they first came out, never used it, sold it... Then I needed a Mini-ITX case that I could take in a carry-on as I was going overseas for a while...

But I had just bought a GTX670 Windforce, couldn't live without that... so I had to cut it down to fit.. with scissors. Also had to remove the fan/heatsink and install the card, then re-attach the heatsink after it was already installed (So this was done without modding the SG05 at all).

Great to hear! Have you got any photos to share?

Finally got time to build my compy today. Not having other peoples screaming kids around and no other rellies asking for help was a welcome change. Had a few issues with the ROG I/O fitting through the shield. The Impact Control (the LED display) was soldered on at a bit of an angle, which misaligned everything else. Ended up just leaving it off. I may get a small file later to open the holes up a bit. I'll put up some pics later so you can see what I'm talking about.

For those who also used the 670 mini and an optical drive, did you just mash the tray on top of the cables or did you get a right-angle connection?

Furthermore, I am planning for
- add mSATA SSD for OS
- replace 3.5" HDD with 2.5" HDD and will be placed under SSD tray
- put 3 x 40mm fan under PSU for exaust.
- Change H60 fan with Gentle typhoon-push and scythe slip stream - pull

any suggestion or others are very welcome. :)

Nice build!

Did you sleeve the PSU cables yourself or did you order them from somewhere?

Thank you..
I did it by myself.. not perfect but is good for me ;)
