Steam 2013 summer sale is here!

I've heard decent things about it from others in the gaming forum. I'm kind of miffed that I bought it earlier in the sale, when it was 50% off and now it's up on a flash sale for 85% off. It's only a couple of dollars different (on the mega bundle), but still a little annoying.

I almost did too so happy I didn't. You gotta wait til the last day unless its a flash or front page.

I think it's awesome. I dont really play these kinds of games. I guess its maybe like decent? or X-wing versus Tie fighter.

and yeah a flight stick would be nice but mouse and keyboard is pretty alright.

Basically it's a 3d jet fighter game(havent gotten to robots) yet where you basically just put on Hiiiighway to the DANJAZOOONE(archer voice) and tune out.

Its not a possibility, its the way it has always been. The whiners can argue all they want but this one is just like all the previous steam sales.

In what way has the market changed and how is valve failing to adapt? That line makes absolutely no sense at all.

Sorry, but that's logic comprehension fail on your part. If you can't grasp that pure simple fact that Valve has become focused primarily on the economics of meta-games, trading cards and in-game cash-shops
as opposed to a variety of diverse offerings at significant savings like what GMG, Amazon, GOG and Gamersgate have done over the past 1-2 years then you're beyond help.

The market has become more competitive with with many of the above distributors offering Steam keys, free bonus games as well as discounts if you already own games within certain bundles. To your point, it hasn't always been this way. I'm going on my 8th year with Steam and their business approach has methodically shifted towards the buying habits of console-centric gamers, i.e...big-picture mode and the forthcoming Steambox. They've adapted, yes, but not necessarily for the better.

Now go get some sleep ;)

I think it was a front page sale when I bought it :(

Hmm, Chivalry's back. Looks like multiplayer could be a hoot...if anyone picks up a 4-pack, let me know...I'd be in for one.

Bought a 2-pack of Zeno Clash II if anyone is interested in the extra key - asking $7.50

I was reading that its glitchy, but for $6.24 if I can get some laughs out of it, shit yeah lol.

To me it was an engine difference. I just couldn't get used to the unreal style engine for this type of FPS. (First person stabber). I prefer the gameplay of the Source mod to this game. I think I paid 15 bucks for it when I bought it. It was a meh purchase, I have made many worse buys in the past. For the price it's not a bad deal.

Just picked up the Strike Suit Zero mega bundle for $5.99.... haven't played a game like this since Descent back in the early 90's... hope I get some enjoyment out of it, looks like a mindless great time!

Played Chivalry for the first time last night. It's got a serious learning curve, but it is alot of fun to play. Nothing like screaming bloody murder as you rush an archer with your longsword! Also I like the different game modes, keeps it more interesting than "defend this flag".

The Chivalry looks neat, but for some reason it looks clunky with animations. Almost unresponsive I guess.

I bought Chivalry, screw it for the price of a combo meal at McDonald's I don't care how bad it may be, but more people seem to like it than those that don't so hey.

So far I've bought 2 Indie games this sale, sigh.

it's a riot playing it online I had no interest of buying it when it went on sale but damn, been having fun just cutting peoples arm nonestop lol. Best 6.50 spend so far :D

Dammit you guys just talked me into Chivalry. That makes Strike Suit Zero bundle + Chivalry for just over $12. I am done for today, I swear!

gave in to buying skyrim legendary. Played it before so yeah... spent the last hour or so downloading mods lol

Both Transformers games are on sale for the next 7 and half hours. I highly recommend them both to any Transformers fan. Fall is the better game however. Multiplayer is decent, I suppose. No clue if it has anyone playing anymore.

Woot Final Fantasy 7 is a flash sale. Only 33%, but I just don't want to pay sticker price for it. Yoink.

If anybody is on the fence 'Just Cause' just went on sale for .27 cents lol :D

Feeling a bit dejected, apparently Strike Suit Zero has a 60 FPS cap which renders it useless for smooth 120hz gaming. I guess I assumed a modern fast paced space shooter would support 120 FPS. As it looks like a blurry mess to me at 60fps, looks like I wasted my 6 bucks on this one.

Chivalry I am having a better time with, but that one is capped at 90fps too (although MUCH better than 60!) and seems like it might get repetitive quickly. Still it's a lot of fun charging into battle with a bunch of screaming medieval knights at your side, couldn't stop laughing while I was playing it!

Guess I need to research these indie titles a bit better before I simply buy them because they are cheaply priced... and I hate FPS caps :/

Back to Natural Selection 2 (GOTY for me) and Dishonored!

Ahh fuck I didn't realize that either :/
Well, that's the life of a 120Hz user I guess, can't always expect decent support for that refresh rate.

$6 isn't a huge loss anyway - it's less than a meal at Chipotle haha.

Chivalry is fun but there is definitely a learning curve. Higher level players that have nailed down technique will clean your clock for a while. A low ping is mandatory. I played long enough to unlock all of the primaries and most of the secondaries for every class but archer, plus a few of the archer primaries. 64 man servers are the most fun, but can lag.

Don't get caught up in downloading mods until you've played it quite a bit. Just stick with the built in hi resolution mods from Bethesda. The game is really good on it's own and it's easy to get caught in that damn rabbit hole of getting mods.

Play it a bit, then do mods later, IMO. ;)

I'd say also grab SkyUI since the default UI in Skyrim is terrible.

That's really want makes me stop playing every time. There's so many mods to "make it better", that I get stuck searching for them, then start feeling like it's a never ending hassle, and then uninstall the game completely. I wish there was just a "must have" list that everyone agrees is all that is needed, and then be done with it.

PC Gamer updated a list of 50 Skyrim mods. They all look like good things to consider.

Thanks, but that just reinforces the want not to play Skyrim. 50 of the best mods, lol. So if I play vanilla, then it bugs me that I'm missing out. But if I want it to be "complete", then I have to wade through at least 50 separate mods that may have bugs or need constant updating. I know when I tried to play it before, I got a bunch installed, and started having problems with the game. Some of them wouldn't update either, which annoyed me.

I hate the fact that I've only played an hour of Skyrim total, but it's just mod overload.

Just play the game through once without any mods except the texture pack from Bethesda. The game is plenty good enough without any mods at all. Then once you beat it you can go crazy playing with the different mods. That's how I usually approach games like this with tons of mods available.

I just picked up worms revolution, for $3.75

Figured that was well worth some fun.

Dragons Lair?

You have to be fucking kidding me, I was really hoping for Kentucky Route Zero :(

i played alot of the game around release time, joined the thieves guild and did most of the side missions etc.

I played some last night and was thinking the vanilla game is already feeling outdated, well i think in the looks department now. I did mostly graphical mods, and also skyui is great.

I've also spent more money on this Steam sale than any other 2 previous sales combined.

I guess some people are never satisfied and always have to complain about something.
