Steam 2013 summer sale is here!

Maybe you just already have all the games you want? I've bought about 10 games so far. Alan Wake was extremely overrated in my opinion but maybe you'll enjoy it more.

Already played it. :D I agree - very overrated. Although, the price it's going for now - that's a Monster Energy with something to go along with, so it's no big loss if you don't like it.

anyone played REUS?

This is a pretty good game if you like non-violent god games. Steam tells me I only spent 12 hours in it which was the point where I feel like I experienced everything the game had to offer. I didn't feel it had much replay value but others may disagree. 12 hours on a game is actually pretty long for me considering my average steam play times.

Lol, I can't believe it took 600 posts for this to get a mention. Such a great game...I guess anyone who wanted to play it already has because this thing provides a ridiculous price/fun/content ratio for $2.50. I've got 61 hours logged and haven't even gotten to most of the "good stuff" (taking my time, not rushing, exploring). I've seen people with over 200 hours in it. Compare that with your standard 8-12 hour playthrough of most games and you can see what a deal it is for $2.50. Plus you're not on rails and everything is totally random, so no two worlds will be the same.

Love Terreria. Bought a copy for myself and my girlfriend a month ago (who really isn't a gamer), and we've logged atleast 100 hours between the two of us. It's a fantastic casual game with loads to do

Some games are actually more expensive, then they have been on past Steam sales, that's kind of absurd. I expected this sale to suck as much as the last one, but not more so.

Alan Wake is a good game, but it's not for me. I can appreciate it for what it is, but I'd rather run around and shoot rockets at zombies than try and solve puzzles about ghosts.

I hated Alan Wake. It felt so oppressive to me. America's Nightmare is so much better though. It is like arcade version of part 1. Shame many might miss out on it due to hating part 1.

Wonder if there is any chance of company of heroes 2 to come on sale. Probably too new.

I haven't really seen anything that I've thought was more expensive. I think what a lot of people may not like that over the past 2-3 years there's been this huge push to indie titles, which now make up a large portion of the Steam sales, and is causing the whole "this steam sale sucks" thing.

In past years you've had 3-5 blockbuster titles (Battlefield, Bioshock, Portal, Crysis, etc) and 6-8 other great, but less popular-to-the-masses titles like Borderlands, Deux Ex HR, etc on sale each day. Now with the huge indie push you're getting 3-5 blockbuster / big name games like Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, etc and then 6-8 indie games to round out the daily sale.

Then steam rotates their games between flash sales, community votes, and daily deals ... which I actually like (at least once) in case you miss it the first time, though it may be a bit extreme to see things up 3-4 times in the first half of the sale...

Throw in the fact that humble bundles get you tons of really good indie games for cheap (so you're left with a few new or individual indie games to fill in the gaps), most of us already have purchased the GOOD big-name titles in past years either individually or in the "Valve Pack" or "Quake Pack" or whatever, Amazon & GMG sales, and suddenly it's not that this year's Steam sale sucks.

#1, we'd gotten used to Steam being significantly cheaper than everywhere else, now it's just a convenient, consolidated place to get a lot of games at the same deep discounts seen elsewhere within a short pereiod of time -- which has more to do with other vendors improving their pricing and sales than it does Steam, and #2 a lot of us have most of the games we want, and the ones that we want but don't have are too new to be in the $5 bin.

EDIT: I will say that I think the trading card thing is kinda dumb, I would've rather had the "here's a free copy of Half Life 2!" or something instead. I mean, I have it already, but it's always nice to have extra copies to give friends that don't have the game.

What killed it for me was the ending. I remember my wife and I both staying up till 11 to play it (she likes to watch and get into it while I play), and being downright mad at the ending. Like "WTF? We stayed up for this?!"

Granted, the journey to the end (as in progressing through the whole game) was memorable, and I enjoyed that. But damn - DAT ENDING!

Yeah I can understand that. Guess with the Stephen King and Twin Peaks influence in the game I expected it so didn’t surprise me as much

Yeah, haven't read hardly any Stephen King, so it flew over my head. :D Doesn't surprise me though, since the game even makes mention of King... I think?

Might just pick up torchlight 2 for only $4.99. I wish counter strike GO comes back for $4.99 or $5.99 whatever it was since I missed it. Also hoping arma 3 beta goes on sale, but that might not be the case since technically it's a beta and not a full game.

Actually, I got the expansion and never tried it. I may have to add that back to my list of stuff to play.

If I remember right it starts with a King quote. King has a “less is more” mentality. Meaning the mystery of the unknown is better than giving all the answers.

I somewhat agree, just look at Star Wars and midichlorians. :p

SNIP

I have seen a few games that I was looking to pick up that have been on sale for less on steam during other sales. Mass Effect and Dragon Age just to name a couple. I know there was at least 1 or 2 more but those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Now that being said im not all raged out because they are more than I wanted them to be. I simply just didnt buy them and will wait for another sale. Sure they are only a few dollars more than thre price I was looking for but I have too many games to play the way it is so I passed on them. If I didnt have like 30 other games to play I would have got them and not cared about them being a few dollars more because they are both good games and worth the price.

Dat jaded feeling when you own all the flash sale items, the community choice and all the worthwhile titles in the daily deals section.

Thinking about grabbing Gunpoint, yay or nay? Is is perfectly playable with kb/m?
Fallen Enchantress: LE comes highly recommended, grab it while you can!

Only 3 games for me so far, not bad.

-XCOM: Enemy Unknown + DLC
-Fallout New Vegas Ultimate
-Deus Ex

All for a whopping $23.95.

Now just waiting for Kerbal to hit a flash sale or something and I should be set.

My wife the other night:

"Ooh! TIme to get Deus Ex: HR!"
(hear clicking and typing as she goes to buy game)
"Wait... what? I already own it? When did that happen? Did you buy it for me?"
me: "I don't remember..."
"Well shit, and here I was excited that I finally found a game to buy this sale."

Yeah, I enjoy my home. :D

Classic example of first world problems right there.

Just curious if you could elaborate on Fallen Enchantress. Some strategy games I like, some I don't. Few turn based ones are up my alley.

Although fantasy based games hold interest to me.... Just can't really get a read on the game to really feel comfortable buying something i may end up hating.

Oh and for others out there. This Strike Suit Zero game. It looks pretty decent....anyone have any comments on it?

Also notice that the voting price is actually more expensive than the current price. So I am assuming that's an error.

If only that 75% off The Walking Dead would apply to its new DLC like other games.

new DLC as in 400 Days?

Or does it not include these:

Episode 1 – A New Day (Available Now)
Episode 2 – Starved for Help (Available Now)
Episode 3 – Long Road Ahead (Available Now)
Episode 4 – Around Every Corner (Available Now)
Episode 5 – No Time Left (Available Now)

I would recommend Fallen Enchantress. It's an interesting balance of Civ and Heroes of Might and Magic. It also has a bit of RPG elements in it as well. The game is a bit scattered and if you are looking for a story or a campaign you won't find it here. The gameplay is pretty entertaining and the random events and random generated maps make this game worthwhile.

Strike Suit Zero voting sale price (66%) would be lower than what it is currently on sale for (75%) :p

If you want a discount on 400 days it is $2.49 (50%) at Gamestop PCDD/Impulse at the moment.

It includes episodes 1-5 but not 400 Days.

No problem...

It was a leap of faith for me given Stardock's prior reputation, i.e...Elemental. Granted that I only have a 5hrs invested it does and excellent job of melding the city building aspects of the Civ series and the turn-based-strategy of the HoMM titles.
You can outfit your heroes with loot, maximize their potential with either generalized or specialized skill tree (assassin, warrior, mage, defender, etc...) and stack with your military forces. Established settlements can be classified as fortresses,
conclaves or towns and as they grow and your notoriety will attract legendary heroes which can also be stacked with further customization on their end. There are varied story-lines and small quests thrown into the mix as well.

That being said, if your a fan of Civ, HoMM or Kings Bounty I think you'll enjoy the game.
I hoped that helps ;)

I'm a bit of a sucker I guess :) 1st world problems indeed:

dark souls
deadlight
defense grid
dishonored dlc
skyrim dlc
dust: an elysian tail
fallout: new vegas
far cry 3: blood dragon
legend of grimlock
roller coaster tycoon 3
splinter cell: chaos theory
the walking dead

Not sure what I spent and I'm not going to look :p

Just bought DLC's for Deus EX HR for $1.33 today , I already have tactical pack included.

Wait for next getaway sale if anything good.
