Good day. My GF and I are looking for a tablet. I say Android because we both have android phones, but I suppose I could be convinced to get an ipad or windows device if they are superior.

I don't have a budget per say, though I don't feel like wasting money, but I'll happily pay for worth while build quality and featueres. I'd like something on the upper end with a nice display ideally 1080p or better. Do Android apps typically take advantage of that res?

Currently I'm considering the Sony Xperia Z tablet, but I'm haivng trouble finding good comparisons of Android tablets. Thoughts?

Nexus 10 or ASUS Transformer Infinity. Android apps love resolution and both tablets have great displays.

All of the top Android tablets have been on the market too long now though. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some hot new tablet gets announced soon in time for the holiday shopping, so if you could hold out a couple of months, I would.

I just bouight the Sony Xperia Z tablet and I will say it is fantastic. The screen marvels any other tablet I have ever had and killed my Nexus 10 screen. And is faster too.

You will not regret buying the sony. Skinny as hell, light and I still hit 8 hours of battery life.

After using a friends Nexus 10, it is the only tablet in existence for me. Once I get my finances together, I'll be grabbing one asap. The 2560x1600 resolution just blows everything out of the water.

I like my Nexus 10, but I'd look at the Asus Infinity and New Sony as well.

I have the Asus Transformer Infinity and I tell people to NOT buy one. The entire experience with it is laggy regardless of what you do. Well, Angry Birds and Candy Crush play fine when my son is using the tablet, but pretty much everything else. Internet browsing is a frustrating experience with this tablet.

I haven't gotten to play with the new Sony tablet but I have read reviews and it sounds pretty amazing.

I'd probably go Nexus 10 just for the official updating (and high-res screen), although I would seriously consider an iPad -- waaaaay more tablet-native apps, and a tendency to get nicer apps first or exclusively.

Ideally, you hold off until around September or October, when Apple is expected to update the iPad line, but the current full-size iPad will likely keep you happy. If you've gotta go Android, see how the Toshiba Excite Pro and its Tegra 4 chip fare in August.

Nexus 10 hands down. Though that new Sony Xerpia Z or w/e looks VERY nice.

Shooting for less than $700, but I'd go higher for something especially awesome.

All the tablets listed are $500 or less (including the iPad) unless you go for very large storage capacity and even then they would top out at $700 or less. Assuming you are talking US dollars of course.

If you don't need a camera, check out the Nook HD+. They're sold by B&N at a slight loss, which makes them the best deal on the market. If you need something better than that, get a Nexus 10 or an iPad 4.

I have an Asus Transformer TF300T, it works fine for what I bought it for, but I find myself using my Kindle more (Rooted with Jelly Bean on it)

I've considered selling or trading the Asus

Definitely not the Asus. It has terrible performance.

Nexus 10 or Sony Z.

Thank you all again for the responses. After much deliberation I decided to go with the xperia z, problem is Amazon can/will not ship it to Canada, and every where else I've looked it's out of stock. Even on Sony's website. I live in a fairly small city and I don't think any of the retailers here have it either. Hah, well I'm not in a big rush so I'll probably just wait a week or so it to come back in stock at the Sony store if I can't find it any where else.

If you are comfortable rooting and unlocking you device all lag on the tf700 will go away with cromix Rom, only lag I get on it now is when the play store was updating/installing apps

I thought the Asus problems were due to garbage flash storage.

Tegra 4 based tablets have been announced and will probably be out soon if you don't mind waiting a month or two.

Futureshop.ca shows 19 in stock online.

The flash storage does suck however the Rom I installed has a few tweaks like disabling fsync and using browser to ram scripts which really improves performance. If you don't want to root and unlock your tablet you will not be happy with the tf700.

I refuse to buy a Nexus 10 until they correct that ugly, hideous shape.

A Hisense Sero 7 Pro. It'll do until the Nexus 7 successor is released.
