27" QNIX QX2710 Evolution 2 impressions

Probably buying one, anyone know if there is an agreed "best" seller? Green-sum, dream-seller, or red-cap?

Also, looking at monoprice for a good stand. Any recommendations?

I really want to try one of these I'm just not sure I want to take the chance of no support. They look fantastic for the money.

Ordered one of these on Sunday and got it today, unfortunately the screen was DOA

Update on this: Monitor is working perfectly now, no idea what exactly caused the above. Monitor was sitting on my floor for a couple of days after I had contacted the seller to start the return process. Decided to give it another few tests, same cables, same computer, same everything, suddenly no issues. Really odd, guessing maybe dust or debris in the DVI connector? Cable not fully seated before? Though I had the DVI cable thumb screws fully tightened every time.

Anyway, monitor is working great at 100hz, can't do 110 without artifacts. Grabbed one of the color profiles for 100hz from this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1384767/official-the-korean-pls-monitor-club-qnix-x-star specifically the one from zhoulander that was calibrated with i1 Display Pro. Brightness set to 10 clicks from bottom.

Looks amazing, panel has no dead pixels either. Small amount of backlight bleed in the bottom center, minor compared to some of the pictures in this thread, probably not going to bother attempting to fix it.

Good luck to anyone getting one of these, well worth it.

Would I be ok to run this on a 6970+6990 setup?

Also, any comparisons to the A850D (my current)?

8 months ago I ended up cancelling a $480 Overlord pre-order because it took way longer than the quoted time frame. I thought it was a mistake later on when Overlord increased their prices and the Catleaps went up to $700-$800 because of people trying to price gauge like bunch of b..ches. I just ordered one of these PLS monitors, if it works out, i'll be a happy camper.

How long does it take before they ship it, I bought it on Sunday and it has yet to ship, payment was made right after buying it. Hmm seems like they are going to have to ship it using black magic to make it within the expected time frame

Who did you order it from, how much did you pay and what form of payment did you make?

I bought one from dream-seller on ebay, paid 287.99 and used paypal checkout on the spot for a glossy non-pixel perfect edition.

I followed Remmib's debezel and paint guides over at overclock.net and then mounted my screens on some VESA desk mounts. Here's a shot of the final result (sorry about the image size):

It took up quite a bit of my weekend but I'm really happy with the results. :D

What kind of graphics card(s) are you using? I have a single GTX 680 2gig but I guess I would have to at least SLI it if I was gonna go 3x1440p.

I bought all of mine through dreamseller and was amazed at how quickly they arrived. I placed my order on Saturday, the monitors shipped via FedEx the following Monday, and arrived at my door early Wednesday the same week. That's more or less a second-day delivery from S. Korea to DFW Texas.

I'm running 3x GTX 780's with a fairly decent overclock (1134/3425). So far I've only had time to play a few newer games and, from what I've seen on my setup, I don't have to turn down too many settings to get an acceptable frame rate (usually just AA or SSAO). A single GTX 680 may drive some old games just fine but it won't cut it for anything recent (you're pushing 11 million pixels with all 3)

Also keep in mind that the less expensive versions are Dual Link DVI only, so unless you buy an active DVI to DP adapter you're going to need that 2nd card just for the 3rd DVI output. Otherwise just ensure you buy at least 1 of the Display Port capable qx2710's

I ordered mine on Friday from green-sum and got it in Chicago on Monday. Damn impressive that companies from Korea can compete with Amazon Prime in shipping speed.

Hello. I need a bit of help here. I ordered a Qnix from accessorieswhole for 289+FS, it just arrived today in Minnesota, but the UPS guy told me I had to pay 100.00 in custom fee and 7.00 in brokerage fee. I told him to come back tomorrow while I try to sort this out, but I'm not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated.

I ordered one as well yesterday, it already shipped. I ended up going with the matte because everyone is saying its like a light semi-gloss on it. Can't wait!

Thank you for the advice on the monitor selection. Apparently mine also shipped yesterday, Does the Displayport capable version also overclock? Don't you think there will be a response time mismatch between 2 DVI-DL only and one multi input monitor?
If I get three of them, I will be at least SLI'ing my card after hearing the 11mil pixel comment lol, so I don't think the ports will be an issue but still curious.

Also this thing does not have a scalar inside right? Which is supposed to help with response rate and make it cheaper i assume. So what happens if I connect a 1080p PS3 using HDMI to DVI cable? It does not show full screen but ends up being a centered box with a total of 1080p worth of pixels?

Took the plunge on the 5th and got it today...pretty darn good I think coming from Korea especially since it's over a weekend. So far so good. Used the enclosed DVI-D cable and it works fine for me. OC to 96 Hz using the guide from Here played around for a minute then went right to 120 Hz and that also seems to be fine...maybe I don't know what the hell I'm looking at but its fine by me :D . The stand is definitely cheesy so I ordered This one recommended from Ebay
All in all I'm happy going from a 24" to a 27" 2560x1440 for a little over $300 including the new stand. Love the extra real estate.

Not sure on the DP version overclocking, but you have a valid concern about the response mismatch time with using different display adapters. It would not surprise me if mixing DVI and DP outputs would create that type of issue with these monitors; I've certainly heard of that occurring with other monitors. I mostly made that suggestion as another option you would have if you decided to use one card.

You're correct about the monitor not having a scaler. I'm not sure how (or if) it would display over a DVI to HDMI cable. I think most of those cables are HDMI 1.3 or less so would only support 1080p. I have a DVI to HDMI cable I use for my work laptop that I could try out tomorrow (since I'm kind of curious now). Let you know how it goes.

I must have got the wrong end of the shipping dude, korea to LA shipping 7 days, bah people are getting theirs in 2, mine says will be delivered tuesday, I really wanted it for this weekend, oh well.

Oh and what is up with the customs fee, one guy here said he was asked to pay customs fee, is that true? common? or the dude is a troll?

Edit: Looks like Everyone is getting theirs on a monday or Tuesday. I guess Fedex has once a week delivery from Korea to US and that happens to be a monday or tuesday, as long as the package is received before the prior Friday.

Ordered mine this past weekend and received it Wed from Greensum. No dead pixels minor blb on lower left and upper left but not too bad. Stand seems fine to me. Overclocked to 96hz but couldnt hit 120hz.

I came from a lightboost monitor so the motion blur is noticable however at 96hz its not the worst I can prolly hit higher for a marginal increase in performance.

The colors/viewing angle/pixel density prolly make up for missing lightboost but I can always swap between the two I dont play competitively fps wise atm. Anyway cant beat the price and I couldnt stand the colors on lightboost even after calibration with a spyder.

FW900 would be nice but I'm not gonna mess with trying to find one. Hopefully OLED tech will fix burnin and we can all sing kumbaya in display bliss in a few years.

I was close to buying a FW900, got a good price on one, was getting ready to pick it up and all the sudden I felt like the guy who is buying an and older Mercedes which was very expensive and best in the market when it was new. I have done vehicle purchases like that and regretted most of them. Unless you are very lucky you end up with a shadow of what the item was in its hey day, it breaks down, it is dirty, scratched up, heavy and more than likely you are the last owner. So I changed my mind.

Mine also said next week (ordered it on saturday I think). It was finally shipped on tuesday, arrived in Alaska at night, and its out for delivery today in Phoenix.

Well, I got mine yesterday from DreamSeller. As far as I can see the monitor is good. It is doing 118Hz right now, at 120 I can see some lines going in and out on the bottom so I don't even bother, just clock it back a couple Hz and its great. So far I really like it which is why I ordered 2 more :D

Now I have 2 questions.
Question1
My graphics card is a GTX680. So I can't power all three monitors just with this card. (I am not looking to get an active adapter unless I have to). Until I get a second GTX680, I have a spare HD6970, sitting in my closet. How hard would be for me to throw that video card in there, have it power 2 side 1440p monitors and the top 1080p HD TV and have the GTX 680 power a single center 1440p monitor that I game on? Remind you that I will not be stretching the game over 3 screens or anything.

Question2
I am looking to buy a triple monitor stand for these monitors. There are 2 varieties, one is free standing kind where it has a base and it sits on top of your desktop, the other clamps to your desk. The clamp is more elegant and gives more desk space but the free standing "seems" more secure. Also considering that I have a very deep (30inches) desk, if I get the clamp version, I will be pushing the monitors at least 10-12 inches back, away from where they are now. At the same time, since I will have 3 27inch 1440p monitors all in landscape mode, maybe being a bit farther away from them make it easier to see the whole desktop. Not sure, can't decide. Which one shall I get?

Just ordered one of these. Green-sum Perfect Pixel and also added the 3 year warrenty.

Hopefully i at least get 100hz....Taking a chance since I love my 120hz gaming.

There are fairly cheap dp to dvi adapters. 6xx series can do four monitors from one card. No need for the hassle of mixing drivers.

As for mount, if you get a desk mount you need a thick desk or some 2x4 pieces to sandwich your desk.

Can you recommend some adapters that will actually work with this situation. I am not sure which one to get

Actually nevermind, I think i need an active adapter for 1440p and the cheapest active adapters are about $100. Instead of investing a $100 on that, I would much rather put that money towards a second card.
In the meantime, how to work the 6970 and the gtx 680 on the same computer, powering different monitors?.. hmmm

Well GTX680 and the 6970 are working fine in my system, everyone is doing it's own thing. The only issue is if I overclock the monitor that is connected to the GTX680, the monitors that are connected to the 6970 turn off, if I turn those monitors back on, then the overclock goes back to the stock 60Hz.
So technically when I get my other two monitors, I can run all of them using my setup, but if I want 3x1440px120Hz I must get another gtx 680 and SLI. To be honest I do not even know if I am going to be able to overclock everything.

Got mine Friday didnt come with adapter though -_-. It has 0 dead pixels some BLB and is overclocked to 100Hz

Been a while since I looked, but last I checked (over a year ago) the adapters dropped to like $30. Check monoprice.

Cheapest active adapter ( apparently passive adapters do not go over 1920x1200) is about $70.
Another issue that I am running into is, when I overclock the monitor to 118Hz, or anything beyond 60Hz for that matter, Nvidia control panel shows the color depth going down to 16bit. The 32 bit setting is selectable but does not stick with the higher refresh rate.

No worries Cecil, thanks for the suggestions.

I have two refresh rate questions.

1) I can't get 120Hz reliably, but I am good at 118Hz. Should I stick 118 Hz or back down to 96? Does it matter that 118 is not a multiple of 24? In that case 60 is also not a multiple of 24 but whatever.

2)When I go 3x1440p, does the refresh rates of the monitors needs to match
a) In a large desktop setting?
b) gaming across three monitors?
c) gaming on the center and the side monitors showing desktop?

New motion test benchmark:
Here's a good web-based motion test to try on QNIX -- TestUFO: Motion Picture Response Time (MPRT).

Test this in the Chrome web browser, the only web browser able to do VSYNC 120Hz (other than FF24+ pre-beta). Change the "Pixel Per Frame" upwards and downwards by 1, until it looks as perfect a checkerboard as possible (black and white squares the same size). I'm pretty curious what numbers the QNIX does at 120Hz, during black, white checkerboard, and white, black checkerboard. The average value of MER's of the two passes (white, black and black, white for foreground/background setting) will typically equal your refresh rate.

NOTE: IE10 won't animate above 100Hz, it will suddenly halve refresh rate. It's a bug in Internet Explorer 10.

Please report back!

Yea refresh rates of each monitor needs to be the same of else nvidia control panel starts acting crazy

Ok, is there a point on having the refresh rate a multiple of something? like 24, 60? I have seen Vega run 100Hz. Is it ok to run 3 monitors all at 118Hz? Is it better at 100? or 96? And why? lol :)

Equal refresh rates. Your weakest monitor will determine the refresh rate you have to run at. If your monitor works at 113Hz, 118hz, and 107Hz respectively, then you're not going to be able to game faster than 107Hz.

The only reason you want to run a monitor at multiples of 24 is to display 24 fps content like blu-ray films without judder. This would be noticeable on camera pans as a slight "hitch" every few seconds in the motion.

Otherwise pick the refresh rate that works for you. 120 hz would only be useful if your video card can drive games at close to this speed. At 120hz you could display up to 120fps in gaming and avoid obvious tearing. At 2560x1440 this is not so much of a problem. Otherwise the only real advantage is a smoother mouse experience and possibly less motion blur during scrolling.

I just received mine yesterday and I'm ecstatic with this purchase. After disappointments with the Achieva Shimian 27" and the Overlord Tempest 27" (no overdrive), this monitor has been a beyond pleasant surprise.

I bought the "QniX Matt(e) pixel perfect" version from dream-seller for $307.00 U.S./$328 Canadian plus $52.88 taxes and duties (supporting my govt for doing nothing). It is indeed pixel perfect and back-light bleed is non-existent. I have perused it over and over again looking for flaws and it doesn't have any. Uniformity on black and whites is quite solid, and whites show no yellowing in corners or sides.

Right now I'm running it at 96hz and am happy that I can drive it with my SLi Titan setup at this refresh rate in most games.

Very impressed and relieved so far. Now to calibrate via BasicColor and use Color Profile Keeper to make this ICM profile persistent in games and enjoy. The whites are a tiny bit cold and the gamma is very slightly off but otherwise this monitor has drastically exceeded my expectations.
