did you read the article?
yeah I only think of STALKER as being a single player game.Well to be fair, some people do consider Survarium to be a spiritual successor to the STALKER franchise. It's made by the same people who made STALKER, and the setting is very similar to STALKER.
Only problem (for me) is that it's MMO. I don't think the original STALKER feel can be captured in a MMO setting. But many STALKER fans are excited about this project
A very recently released mod called Oblivion Lost Remake is apparently much more like that original concept, but the web pages for it are all in Russian (you can google for it), and I read in comments somewhere that it has been done by just one guy so it's still full of bugs and issues, so I have not attempted to obtain it, making the possibly wrong assumption that there's no English translation.
For Stalker: Call of Pripyat fans, Misery 2.0 now has a new release date of July 31.
It's too bad the STALKER games never got the kind of mod support Fallout 3/New Vegas has. The majority of mods for it just add features left out of the the original SoC,no new content, story lines, characters, ect. The only mod I've found that does so is Priboi's Story,an early effort by the team that's working on Lost Alpha. I'm hoping LA is a big success, maybe it will inspire GSC to actually do something with the franchise. As much as I like the Fallout games, they just can't compare to STALKER.

You know, I tried booting up STALKER a few weeks ago but I thought it was a little on the ugly side so I stopped. I might have to get back into it.
I thought SoC with complete was even better looking than CoP.

Yeah Clear Sky has the best graphics. I also loved the game play.
This is one of the first times i've heard CS talked about in an only positive way. I skipped over it.. was that a mistake?
the thing that makes the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series so good is that it's close to reality...the area around Chernobyl (Pripyat) is still to this day dangerous and uninhabitable...who knows what the Russian gov't is withholding from the public...I wouldn't be surprised to find mutant humans and animals there...very scary place which has been faithfully recreated in the games using detailed maps
with all other games you are transported to a fantasy world which doesn't exist so you can separate it in your mind as fiction but not so with S.T.A.L.K.E.R....even the 2012 movie Chernobyl Diaries which I recently saw on premium cable TV creeped me out
The trouble with Clear Sky is that it is incomplete. Halfway into the game, just when it's getting good, you get dumped into a "what the fuck just happened?" endgame that takes about 10 seconds. It's very obvious that production was halted very prematurely and the production team given a few days to wrap up what they had.
CoP was much better than Clear Sky; it serves more or less as an epilogue to the epic SoC, giving you the end story to what happened to the Zone and everyone in it after the events of SoC. While CoP is complete, the storyline was not very strong and SoC is unquestionably the main event of the series.
For those of you who have enjoyed playing Clear Sky I recommend the following mod, this has been my fave so far and I've played them all:
http://www.moddb.com/downloads/stalker-clear-sky-mod-pack-2012
It is a combination of multiple mods that includes:
CS Complete
CS Mystery
CS Remix
Absolute Nature
Misery guns and Gnomus scopes
lots of other graphical, sound and game play tweaks (the fucking bloodsucker roar makes me jump every time!)
Plus it also fixed up a couple of annoying bugs and random crashes I would have with the vanilla game. You'll need a fairly beefy system to run it with all options maxed out.
I would recommend a fresh install of the game if you already have other mods installed that can't easily be removed before you drop in this mod.
