Nearly creamed myself when I found this. Asus Gtx760-dcmoc-2gd5, aka the Mini, currently in production status, 6.7" PCB length, vapor chamber cooling etc.

$250 price tag? $250 PRICE TAG?

*Edit* Ok, so it's most likely to be $299 at release. But $250, wow, a guy can dream can't he?

So the question is do I go with this 760 Mini or the 670 Mini. And which one can I get my hands on before Quakecon.

Yeah just not sure about the higher price, 670 at 374 or 760 at 300 est.

I guess what I need to know is the price performance ratio is worth the 10% and the extra cash. Which is more bang for the buck so to speak.

Short answer? No. It's about 40 bucks overpriced for only 10% performance increase. If 10% is an exact that is, which it wont be depending on your configuration, resolution etc.

I just mentioned the 760 was the better value. if the 670 is costs more than 10% more, which it does, then its less bang for buck.

Well anything from a 470 is a big bump. Guess I will have to see what money is looking like towards the end of the month.

You need equate how long you will be using the card as well. Spending the extra cash on a card that will last you longer may be the better deal.

I didn't realize these things are only 1-2" shorter. The picture makes it look so small.

Does not compute.
Reference 760 is 9.5"
This is 6.7".
The reference is 2.8" longer or 41% longer.
Usually these cards are in the 9.5-12" range so..

Ahh. For some reason I thought they were normally 8.6".

It would look nice in my mini-ITX case though.

edit: actually my 570 is 10.5", so this is a pretty significant cut

760 mini if it retails at $249 is going to be way better bang for buck than the 670. The 670 mini if like the full sized card would have slight edge in performance but at $399 retail isnot worth it.

According to my best guesstimate, the 760 Mini should be at least $279, maybe $299. The Asus Gtx760-DCMOC-2GD5 is already on Newegg and it goes for $267. The Mini should be priced 5-10% higher, I believe.

BTW why mini when you are using 470 now? Those aren't exactly supercompact cards :)

If you look at the back of a normal 760 card, the area that the blower fan sits in is actually just a plastic extension of the graphics card, and not the PCB itself.

It may have been the reason that the mini version was announced so soon, it wasn't as difficult to engineer as the 670 mini.

Very excited about this announcement. It's so kyuuute!

Is it gonna be extra wide again with the plug still on the side? (A problem for some small cases.)

the 670 and 760 both use same reference design cooler and short pcb.

Anymore info on this card, its about time for me to buy, was wondering if this was nearing release or if I should just got for a normal 760.

As cannondale mentioned, both the 670 and 760 are short pcbs with coolers that extend beyond the PCB.

They already spent the time and effort engineering this cooling solution for the 670, so pushing out the 760 would have been far less time consuming. The PCB may actually be nearly if not exactly identical.

They seem to have also used this tech as a stepping stone to the hybrid solution employed by the upcoming 770 Poseidon.

The card will be released at the end of July. Not too long a wait, really.

This card needs to hurry up and come out already, I wanted to get one before Quakecon next week. Unless its releasing this Friday or something looks like I might have to go with the normal Asus 760.

So it's now August, and the GTX 760 Mini is still not out. Been checking Newegg almost daily. Does that mean Asus are officially liars? :p

I really want to know whats the smallest case that can fit it.

SG05 is the smallest case.

Been looking around for it as well. I did come across a post on the official Asus facebook page that stated there were no plans to release it in the US as of yet. Whether or not that means they'll only be available in Asia at this point is debatable (the USA isn't the centre of the world, just in case you didn't know). That was over a week ago, so they may have changed their minds since then.

still no joy on this guy, wonder if they changed their mind on releasing it

Looks like a little powerhouse. I have an older Rosewill case I still like with 5 drive bays. The sad part is any card over 8 inches protrudes into the bays resulting in 2 bays being useless.
This card would fix that issue but still provide ample gaming at a reasonable resolution and eye candy.
It will certainly blow away the 650.
Then again if Nvidia were to release the 750 ti that could complicate things as they are fairly close so it would be a money factor.

The PCB of a reference 760 is actually 6.7", same as this Asus card...

The cooler just hangs waaaaay off the end of the card, like so:

Asus just made a smaller cooler

Blower vs fan, that is the dynamics of the engineering.

The 650 boost is just a 650ti with blower thus the same length as the 660.

Followup - the GTX760 DirectCU II is seeing some holiday discountage; I'm actually seeing it at MicroCenter for basically the same price as the GTX660 (finally). With GTX660s in shrinking supply, the thought of a GTX760 in 660 price turf (and power turf - the DCU II takes a single 8-pin/6+2 power plug) is definitely attractive.
