Sony 6.4 inch Xperia Z Ultra..Wow.

I love it. I have really been digging Sony's industrial designs the past 2 years. Made me buy 2 ultrabooks and a third coming soon. Their phones are becoming really appealing. Though 6.4 in is huge...

It is huge but I really like the "headset" idea and can see it working in a lot of situations.

Wow just looked at the video and saw that it will also be waterproof, and you can use a pencil as a stylus?
This has been the most interesting phone to me in a while. I will probably get it if reviews are good. Sony is on a roll lately and I have never spent so much money on their products.

Hate it. Too large to be a phone, too small to be a tablet.

I think my 4.7" phone is a sweet spot. But considering that I rarely talk on my phone, I'm wondering how much larger of a phone I'd tolerate. The deciding factor is the front pants pocket test.

But that 3000mah battery--I wouldn't say that's all that much given the size of the screen.

The fact that it's waterproof is a really nice idea.

Too bad it won't see the US or if it does will probably only be on AT&T or T-Mobile. Sony is almost irrelevant in the US (by choice), therefor it's hard to care about any of their phones, for me at least.

Looks nice though.

Yup or they royally screw themselves on price.

I'm not saying this is a cool device, but why does AT&T get all the cooler devices? It seems like every time I hear about something nice coming out, it's always going to AT&T.

Anyway, I think this phone is officially too big. I mean, looking at that thing having a 6.4" screen with a bezel THAT big is just too big. If the Note 3 will have a 5.99" screen with a thin bezel, I will be in love. That Sony's just too big to put up to my ear, and I hate bluetooth headsets. Nice specs though. 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800...

I'm sure it's only because they're GSM and it's just easier to port their phones to AT&T becasue they' don't have to change the hardware of the phone much, if at all. Being a GSM carrier is like the only nice thing about AT&T. I can't wait until Verizon can phase out CDMA and go LTE/GSM only so OEMs can more easily make their phones available for them and maybe start allowing us to put unlocked phones on their network (though I'm sure they'll fight that however they can).

The screen looks beautiful but why oh why have such huge bezels on the top on bottom on a phone with an already 6.44 inch screen? That thing is massive. The thinness is great but I would sacrifice some of that for a bigger battery.

There's a decent chance that the note 3 will have a larger screen than the 2 while keeping the same foot print. I think that's a major win.

+1

it will be interesting to see how the industry changes when everyone is running voice over LTE

Phones being released on Verizon will still take forever. With their requirements on software and handling of the physical hardware so strict, they will always be behind AT&T.

Even if they go strictly GSM (which is still years off) they will still hold their proprietary ways and force the hardware makers (other then Apple) to their standards.

Lol and they expect people to carry around this huge brick and use it as a phone ? Haha even the note series is a joke it's so big. A 4in phone is about perfect size my opinion.

I guess you haven't held one. They're perfectly pocketable and I can even use mine in one hand for the most part (and I have the smallest hands ever). They're not much of a joke to me or the millions of other people who bought them.

The Galaxy Mega 6.3 on the other hand...

I don't believe so. The reason they released a bluetooth 'handset' accessory rather than a bluetooth 'earpiece' is to get the benefits of a small tablet and mini-phone. It's attractive to those who lug around both a tablet and a cell phone. In this case both are significantly smaller than say an iPad + iPhone combo with the added benefit of being both dust and waterproof.

I've got a hot tub and a pool. You're saying that I can use a sweet waterproof combo of a mini-tablet (to control my Sonos music system) and mini-hand set (to answer phone calls) when I'm in the water? Where and when can I buy them?

If you read the fine print about its waterproof-ness, it says to do not use in shower, ocean, or water... So I guess it's sweat and wet pants pocket proof...

Uhh NO:rolleyes: The note series is the biggest I would ever consider as a phone.

One UK store is supposedly taking preorders at 599 Euros. Not TOO horribly overpriced given the Note 2's launch price of 525-550 last year. Of course what that means for US pricing, if it even comes here, is a whole different story.

Bought a WiFi only Galaxy Note 8.0 on sale and if it just had a smaller bezel I'd return it, get the imported one that also has phone functions, and be happy with it, but as is it's just a little too big to keep in a pocket for long periods of time, and I don't think I'd take too well to having to carry a messenger bag or something similar (if I can even find one sized for it) everywhere as an alternative. Not a fan of how ludicrously expensive phones are compared to tablets but at this point I'm rich enough to just "give in" and grab either this, Note 3, or One Max for convenience's sake.
