NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I have 5 others who I know feel the same as we all want one. One thing is that I am maybe needing to order 5/6.

Is this possible? No profit involved, just mates who always wants to have one.
The production campaign will be open to everyone, regardless of whether or not you backed for the prototype. We haven't talked about a per-person limit, but I don't really see a problem if you wanted to order five.

That brings a question to mind. If you contributed to the first campaign, how many cases can you order with your priority? Is it appropriate for someone with priority to order for all his friends who didn't contribute? Maybe there needs to be a limit of one for contributors of the first campaign, since that seems to be what was implied, and then additional orders go into the same pool as the non-contributors. Maybe order priority can then be purchased on non-contributor orders after the initial contributor orders are filled, and maybe contributors still have priority on their first priority order (second case). I don't want to be order number 2000, filled next year, just because 300 contributors order more than one case for each of their friends who didn't contribute and who haven't been paying attention to either campaign. I also don't want to be a contributor who loses his priority because another contributor allowed his friends to butt in the priority line.

Any thoughts?
Yeah, we should've clarified this with the prototype campaign. If you contributed $10 to get on the list it entitles you to prioritized shipping on one case only. There were a handful of people that backed multiple times in order to get more than one priority slot, so it wouldn't be fair to them to do it differently.

There wont be any orders next year. Its one production run. If there is say 300(pick any number you want) then they make 300 and thats it. They crank out that many. No more. Now whether they all ship at once or in so many groups I'm not sure. Shouldn't take them long to make the entire order though once they turn on the machines.
Well, just to be perfectly clear on this - we only have plans currently to do this one run. That's not to say we 100% won't do another one in the future; it just depends on how we feel about it afterwards and if there's enough interest to do another. It might turn into a big headache for us, you know? Or it might be fine. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I think the production run will also be limited by what Wahaha360 feels comfortable handling. If I remember correctly the original plan was for him to receive the production run units from Lian-Li and then he would redistribute them. That was many pages ago so it could have changed.
That's still the plan. We don't have enough volume for a logistics company to take on the job. So W360 and/or some hired help will handle the shipping out to customers.

Just want to say you guys are rockin it! Love the campaign teasers, looking forward to go-live.
Thanks. Your project is looking pretty good too

So, has anyone started to plan their build yet?

Im basically planning on moving my current build into this case.

i7-3770k Cooled with an apogee drive II pump/water block
Asus p8z77-i Mobo
Probably my current 8GB ram
At first Ill probably keep my GTX560ti 448, might splurge and get a 780 or 770 though.
Mushkin SSD, not sure if Ill get a 2.5in hdd or just use an external esata drive that I have..

For cooling I'm gonna try a 120x2 rad on the side above the mobo and another on the floor. Just for shits really, and I don't have anything that I need to use that space for. The Magicool radiator I have is only 30mm thick and 276 long, so it should be close but fit.

I was also thinking of picking up one of the aquaero fan controllers for the rad fans, not sure on that either.

My thought was a new Haswell cpu, nvidia gtx680, blueray/dvd, and a 500GB SSD. Not sure about mobo. I may just throw the newer gpu into my main rig and slide the 6950 into the ncase. We'll see what is availble and cost when the case gets into my hands.

Since itx mobos only have two memory slots, does anybody know if unregistered non-ECC 16 GB ddr3 sticks are or will be available soon?

Why? Well, I've got 4 x 8 GB in my current matx mobo, and I actually need 32 GB of memory (for running a bunch of virtual machines), so I'd prefer having (atleast) 2 x 16 GB for the upcoming NCASE build.

I'm going to put in both machines I'm building with this case:
-Haswell i5 with a Noctua NH-C14 for cooling duty
-The Z87 Asus mini-itx board.
-8/16GBs of ram (probably a Crucial flavor).
-EVGA GTX 650ti Boost / EVGA GTX 770 with blower cooler
-The non modular Silverstone SFX unit (unless their new gold version comes in time, because otherwise I'm not willing to mod the current one with a quieter fan).
-4 Noctua intake fans running quiet as they can and 1 of their slim 92mm ones as an exhaust in the back.
-256/512GB Crucial m4 for storage.
-Silverstone DVD/Blu-Ray slot loading drive

So, has anyone started to plan their build yet?
I've been planning the build since I joined the Indiegogo campaign.

My currently planned system is the following:
Have now
● Asrock Z87E-ITX
● Intel Core i5-4670K
● Samsung 830 256GB SSD
● 2x 8GB Crucial VLP 1600MHz

Purchase with case
● Geforce GTX 770 w/ blower fan
● Noctua NH-C14
● Noctua case fans
● Silverstone 450W SFX Modular PSU

So, has anyone started to plan their build yet?

I'm going to transplant my current computer into this case (currently it's in an SG05).

  • i7 3770k
  • Galaxy GTX680 4gb model
  • Samsung 840 pro 256 gb SSD
  • 3 TB HDD
  • ASRock Z77 mobo
  • 16 gb RAM

I'm going to purchase a new CPU cooler of some sort (probably an H60) because I've still got the stupid stock CPU cooler, which is incredibly loud.

I'm not sure I will even be able to put a system into mine for a while but I want to get the case anyways. There are several routes I could go with it, though. Lately I have been playing a lot of games on my laptop upstairs so I can be with the family instead of downstairs in my office where my main system is. I'd like to permanently put a small system upstairs to game on. The laptop games pretty well (3920xm/680m/32GB) but one of my 7970's in a decent build would be better.

The base of my system is likely as follow

4770k with Swiftech H220
Maximus VI Impact
16GB RAM
Slimline Slot Load BluRay

The rest will depend upon whether certain things come out such as M.2 drives, better sfx psu, next gen Radeons, etc.

Ideally I'd like to have a super fast 512GB(or more) m.2 SSD and then a 960GB Sata III SSD, with the gpu being a 780 or a 8970/9970. Mechanical storage will come in the way of a home server/media server that I will build with the parts from my current system.

I'll also be transplanting my current build into the M1, I currently have a Prodigy and I don't like how big it is so this case is awesome :)

3570k + antec kuhler 920
Gigabyte Z77N-Wifi
Radeon 6970
8GB vengeance RAM

I will upgrade the cooling system at some point to use either an AIO cooler to cool my CPU and GPU or a full W/C system if I can make it fairly organised and clean inside the case.

I'm so sorry in advance for asking this question, but my brain is melted from a rough week (month?) at work ... I'd like to transplant my existing storage setup into this case if possible, but I don't think it'll all fit.

Here's what I've got:
2x 2.5" SSD's
3x 3.5" HD's
1x Slot-load slim DVD-RW

Will all of that fit somehow? If not, what configuration would fit, while including as much of that as possible?

Also, I contributed to the first Indiegogo campaign, but my email address has changed and I no longer have access to the one I used for the Indiegogo. I also forget my password (yes, I know, total fucking fail lol). Is there a way I can update my email address so I can retain my priority shipping?

Thanks much!

I'd totally be all over this case for my HTPC build, if it were only a little shorter. My entertainment center doesn't allow for anything taller than 7.8" :(

Clearly, your entertainment center needs to be a little taller.

You ~MIGHT~ be able to squeeze all that in there. 2x3.5 on case floor, 1x3.5 on drive bracket, 2x2.5 on the drive bracket in a (2x2.5 > 1x3.5 converter), Slot load in the front. It will be really tight in there though...Just a warning.

How much does it cost and where can I order one?
You can find the answers to those questions on the IGG page. The most updated answer to 'when' is a non-specific 'soon.'

It actually can fit all of that out of the box. I didn't do a build specifically with all of that in at the same time, but if you take a look at the fit and thermals testing I did, you can see how all of that can fit.

One 3.5" on the bottom:

Two 3.5"s in the side bracket:

And you can't really see it, but there are two 2.5" drives on the inside front mount, like so:

Mounted using the double-stack bracket:

I'll PM you.

Haha, yeah, I wish I had thought of this before spending so much money on it, lugging it home (it weighs a bloody ton) and spent hours trying to understand the poorly translated instructions and assembling it...

It looks like this is just a few mm short of fitting a mATX board. Has this been discussed? It would open up dual card possibilities and mainboard choice in general.

edit: SFX power supply severely limits dual graphics options I guess

There are 178 pages of comments. Its been asked and shot down numerous times because its not the purpose of this case. Itx boards are getting to the point now that choice isn't really a limited issue.

I agree. I just go the Asrock Z87E-ITX board and it is already so chock-full of all the options I need that it's spilling over to all the options I'd ever want, like Wireless and Bluetooth. mITX has never been this big for consumers, when even Asus has an ROG mITX board on the way that's already setting new overclocking records.

I agree, but I still don't have Thunderbolt or a place to connect two PCIe 4x or higher cards. I wish motherboard manufactures would produce some equivalent mDTX motherboards with a second 8x or 16x PCIe slot, or at least support splitting on the single 16x slot like they do on their bigger boards. The ability to split 16x into 8x + 4x + 4x would be great, and would all fit inside this case. A four slot NCASE with an ASUS mDTX ROG Impact with thunderbolt and splitable dual 16x PCIe 3.0 would be perfect :)

So basically you want a narrow mATX motherboard and a case specifically designed for it ? Why not just go for mATX which already has a good choice in boards and just learn to live with the few extra cm's/inches ?

Is there a problem if i contributed wothout creating an account or do you see my mail adress for the production campaign?

We have the email address and / or mail address for all IGG Prototype Campaign donors.

That ASUS mITX mobo makes me so excited, can't wait.

Getting new photo equipment soon. :)

This looks like a god of a case if you're into watercooling.:eek: Sadly I'm not and just built a system, but seriously congratulations when this comes out!

It's actually not a few mm away, it's quite a bit. Width of the mATX boards cab be up to several inches more than miniITX boards. The case would have to be quite a bit larger to incorporate mATX spec and that would then be an entirely different case. If you really want a dual GPU setup then this case isnt really what you want. You can build a really nice single GPU setup in this case, though. The Silverstone SFX 450W will run an i7 + Titan, even with some overclocking too. That's a hell of a lot of horsepower in a tiny little box!

That being said there are some mATX boards that MAY be able to fit, ones that are not very wide. I don't know of any off the top of my head but I have seen some people post ideas of possibilities earlier on in this thread.

Dual PCIe x16 mDTX is and 500W+ SFX PSU are both possible, it's just matter of demand.
