Hi, I'm currently trying to decide between the normal OC edition and the OC Power Edition. The Power Edition is obviously better in terms of clock speed and boost clock when compared to the normal one. Still, it is also 30 euros more expensive than the other one.

Is the 30 euros more justified or not? Probably I can overclock the normal edition to match the Power Edition but obviously the Power Edition can be overclocked as well...

OC Edition: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N670GTX-PM2D2GD5-OC.html#?div=Overview
Power Edition: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N670-PE-2GD5-OC.html

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd get the Power Edition because of the Twin Frozr fans. They're worth the extra money.

BTW, I am getting warnings from Chrome that the links contain malware. I went there anyway and NIS did not detect any malware.

The site I linked to is the official msi website so I don't how this happened haha

I have the 670 power edition. Its definitely worth the money just for the cooler alone. I have mine overclocked + 60MHz on the core, and +600MHz on the memory at stock voltage (1254 Core / 7200 effective memory) and it never goes above 70c without even adjusting fan settings. Definitely a very good card that benchmarks above a 680 at my current settings and runs very cool as well.

On a side note: I also had the mal-ware warning pop up.

Thanks guys. I'll probably go with it then. So it's easy to overclock without tweaking the voltages? Cause I'm not an expert on this stuff and I wouldn't want to screw it up haha

Overclocking is pretty fool-proof these days. Especially at stock voltage. Bump each until you get stability issues (driver crashes) / artifacts and then drop it just a bit to keep it stable under all conditions.

Perfect guide here for it is you ever consider it in the future. Enjoy the card if you get it. I couldn't be more happy with mine!

Well, you have to consider the 670 power edition is really really close to a 680. In-fact a 680GTX is practically just an overclocked 670 with a few more shaders. Your buying a factory overclocked card, and once you bump up the GPU core another 60Mhz and the memory another 5-600Mhz like i have, your ahead of a 680GTX for no extra cost.

With that being said, doing a quick stats/graph technical comparison, your going to see a slight increase in memory performance on the 7970 without an overclock, but the overall texel/pixel (processing power of the 670GTX) is going to be about 10% better than the ATI. Throw the overclock i mentioned above in there (your mileage may vary), and it will be ahead of a 7970

My card benchmarks about 7-11 FPS faster than a GTX680 on Valley Benchmark, and about 417 more on 3Dmark, if that helps.

In the end, they are both very close. But i'd chose the Nvidia over the ATI, but that's just me. Since ive had an ATI card forever, and Nvidia just seems to be more power (yet a bit more expensive.) But as always, you get what you pay for in most cases.

Good luck with your choice. let me know if you have any other questions.
