Sorry to make a thread about this but..
My black widow just died, bf3 edition, so im in the market for a new keyboard.

i really like the black widow, but they only come in green lighting now which does not match my case at all.

so the question is, do all mechanical keyboards make the clicking noise when your press keys like the black widow does. i love the noise it makes :D

and i would love some recommendations for a new keyboard with either red or orange lighting.

If backlighting and Cherry MX Blue (MX Greens are similar with heavier actuation as well as MX White, but MX White have a more muffled "click") are a must I'd recommend Ducky's Shine 2 series which can be found in the link in the post above.

I've heard good things about the Logitech and new Corsair boards, but nothing really concrete on build quality concerning interior construction. That particular Cooler Master (CMStorm) keyboard has had both good and bad reviews; low-down is that it's of decent quality, but it feels cheap compared to their other boards.

Personally, I'd still go with a Ducky Shine 2 if you really want backlighting with Cherry MX Blue switches. If you can do without the backlighting, many more quality options become available.

if i could do without backlighting i would stick with the black widow :D

i will look at the duckys at microcenter, if they have an orange or red back light i will get that.
if not the logitech isnt a good choice?

To answer your original question, not all mechanical keyboards are "clicky". It all depends on the switch they use. Some mechanical keyboards, like those which use Cherry MX Brown switches, offer no audible feedback and are solely tactile.

The Logitech and Corsair don't offer Cherry MX Blue switches (the G710+ is MX Brown and K** is MX Red, neither of which "click"). They aren't bad boards from my understanding, they are just very new boards with no real duration user reviews concerning build quality, keycap durability and LED quality; many backlit mechanical keyboards end up having one or more problems regularly occurring in these areas, Ducky and Deck just have the longest track record with the least issues (or most improved upon) in these areas.

If do not know about now. However, there used to be a Packard Bell ps/2 keyboard. It is really good for typist and data entry professionals because the keys "clicked". You know when the keys have been registered into the system.

Your razor keyboard died? Shocking.....

What happened to it?

I would wait for the Ducky Shine III from mechanicalkeyboards.com if you can, they look pretty cool with all the lighting features and you can get them with any switch and pretty much any color.

Find a board with buckling spring switches if you want to really make noise

at the last show corsair was showing new keyboards and I think one of them had blues

Get a Ducky, I've heard its made from the heavens of all things keyboards.

I agree with that statement Skull_Angel. Not enough gains to warrant the price.

I am waiting on Corsair's new K70 blues and browns to come out.

You can actually add the round rubberized rings to every button and it makes them surprisingly less noise

Meh, Flico are a bit over hyped considering the minimal gain over other mech.s of the same feature set, considering the premium price.
I agree they are expensive, but the gain with Filco lies within the construction, all down to the quality of the PCB and soldering — they are very, very well made keyboards. The only weak spot in that regard are the stock ABS keycaps. Then again, it all depends on what one is looking for.

The only real gain you see from Filco over most other mech.s is modification durability; the PCB is a bit more hefty as well as the contact points, making them a good choice for using to mod. Other than that there's no real benefit, not from the key-caps, case materials, controller, even the quality of soldering can be found on many many cheaper keyboards these days (the only real shoddy soldering I've see are from a small few chinese boards and mostly the older iOne boards, but even they've been doing much better than previously).

I think Razer is the only peripheral company that has made the idea of a keyboard "dying" commonplace, and they are sold as premium products to boot.

I use a WASD V1 MX-Brown keyboard w/ dampers

not loud at all... it is tactile but there is not much by way of audible click.

I am pretty much in love w/ this keyboard.

QFT. I did this to my Rosewill RK9000 with browns and it helped tremendously. I actually like the feel of it better now too. Highly recommend this.

I'll throw in another supports post for a Ducky Shine Brown ... quiet unless you ottom out really hard and a very nice keyboard.

As mentioned earlier, the clicking is largely the result of Red switches.

The clicking is the result of MX Blues (MX Greens, Whites and Greys too).
