So I was at my local Micro Center Friday night. I was talking with a sale associate and asked about an email that says something about the last three days to save on the Gen3 of Intel CPU, and he said something kind of shocking to me. He said "Yes, because on Monday, we will starting the *NEW* CPU." I asked: "What do you mean "new?" He said, "Oh, the new 4670K and 4770K." I said, "Oh? I thought they aren't out until some time in July." He said, "Well, all I know is, this coming Monday, we start selling them. We've got piles offthem in the backroom."

Not sure how accurate or true his statement is, but it does sound too early to be true. Or have they changed the date?

Nah it was also speculated June 6th would be the hard announcement date, although it appears it got moved up to June 3rd since everyone tech site has a shit eating smile every time they talk about whats upcoming in the weeks ahead.

It'll be good times. I'm hoping those leaked Chinese results were dead wrong and there is something more offered to regular desktop folk who don't depend on the iGPU.

BTW...4770k will be 279.99!!

They will be on sale at MC tomorrow (Sunday), no need to wait until Monday
 
i could have sworn I saw an intel slide that said 330 or less... hmm *digs*

I spoke with a manager at microcenter today and asked if they would have the motherboards out for sale tomorrow as well and they said yes, so one would think they wouldnt wait until monday to offer you a deal.

I'll walk in tomorrow and walk out on them if a manager tells me to wait until monday to get a combo deal, then just order on amazon where I have prime and a gift card.

The prices are up on the Webfront - and pricing is actually sane.

It's $40 off any Haswell-K+Z87 motherboard bundle - identical to Ivy-K.

For semi-identical boards, the bundle spread is $55 - less than the typically retailer spreads elsewhere at launch. (The odd spread also includes price drops on Ivy bundles.)

EXAMPLE - i5-4670K+ ASRock Z87 Extreme4 is $319.98 as a bundle - $55 more than the direct-equivalent Ivy bundle (which dropped $5).

I am chaining myself to my chair. Don't want to be another early adopter. As you all know, Z87 still has this SLEEP/WAKE-UP problem that won't be corrected until the end of July. In August or so, newer boards with the newer chipset rev. C1 (or something IIRC) that fixes this sleeping/wake-up problem will surface. I will upgrade then if I still feel the urge.

Not only that, seems Haswell runs super hot even if you have an AIO water cooling system. It gets up the 90 and even 100 when you just have the stock cooler. Whew! I'm sweating already just thinking about it, unless that one Haswell just has a bad IHS/contact.
 
My wife said no, then I drove to Microcenter. Let's just say I didn't leave empty handed.
