Has Apple Lost Its Cool?

Apple is for pretentious people.
Always has, always will be.

And considering there's always people who want to act more important than they feel they are, Apple will survive. They're too inexorably linked to a common trait of people to fail, IMO.

SD card and HDMI ports without the need for proprietary adapters.
Of course, the ports are limited in what they can do compared to Apple's "proprietary" port and the consumer has to buy a handful of various cables to hook up all the different devices in the house or wade through all the different flash cards but that probably doesn't help the argument against' Apple's use of their connector so I can understand why you'd leave that out of your response.

Everything you just said would have to be done with an iPad as well.
Except, you know, one would also have to have that proprietary adapter along with all of those additional things.

So your point is?
Oh right, we should just be mindless Apple fanatics/lunatics who don't question logic or reasoning.

I forgot how anti-Apple this site can be

I think it has more to do with the apple politics than the products, its pretty hard to knock the iphone, ipad, imac, etc but the BS behind apple drives me nuts, like the tax crap, the silly commercials, the starbucks guy who drives everyone nuts

i love my iphone and ipad and want a macbook but i hate the apple cult.fanatic crap, i want/use the stuff because it works well and build quality is good, not because its an apple product only

um...no? the iPad has *one* port to connect that proprietary adapter you keep whining about and that proprietary port can do more functions than basic USB, HDMI, or SDCard ports combined.

So far you've had a number of Apple users questioning your so-called "logic" and faulty reasoning so I'm not sure why you keep repeating the last point.

Oh good, so you can only do one thing at a time on an iPad, sounds great.
It doesn't really matter if it has multiple functions, it can only do one thing at a time.

So if I wanted to watch a movie, I would first have to transfer it from the SD card to the iPad, then connect it to the TV; not to mention buy two proprietary (meaning incompatible with everything else) adapters to boot.

Or, I could use an Android or Surface tablet, stick in the SD card, connect it to the TV, not fuck around with buying or having to use proprietary BS adapters, and enjoy myself.

If by "number of Apple users", you meant kent, that's one user.
Also, I only repeated myself one time because you were the one who brought it up.

I suppose in your scenario where you have movies on sdcards and an ipad that you want to use to relay the movie to your TV you'd have to do what you said. But that seems like such a ridiculous usage scenario that it almost seems concocted to the point of absurdity.

It's also no different than what you'd have to do if you owned a Galaxy Tab making your gripe somewhat confusing when you focus it on Apple.

it almost seems concocted to the point of absurdity.

Believe it or not, there are individuals who do do this.
The only thing absurd is your lack individual-thought-process, but then again, I guess Apple doesn't want their cultist *cough* I mean elitist followers thinking for themselves. :p

The problem is you are wrong (and rude). This is typical of people in your situation--you're rude because the market doesn't cater to your needs. The market doesn't cater to your needs because your needs are irrelevant to the majority of the consumer base. Then you lash out at people enjoying themselves with their devices while simultaneously concocting mythological "others" who sneer at you.

But it's *you* sneering at people. It's you who are the rude person walking into a Starbucks or challenging people about what they are buying. No one is walking up to you showing off their Macbooks, iPads, or iPhones. Truth is they don't think about you at all. They'd happily ignore you if you didn't harass and harangue them.

The worst part of all this is that you're flat out wrong on the facts.

There are android devices that use a similar 30pin adapter to achieve the functionality of sdcard and hdmi ports. They, like Apple, don't do it because it's "proprietary." They do it because it allows them to make a thin device and shift manufacturing costs to consumers who may or may not need any of the ports.

Making matters worse, there is no standard port setup. Android devices come with a myriad of USB, mini-USB, micro-USB ports. They have HDMI, mini-HDMI, MHL, etc. Some devices have SD slots and others have micro-SD slots.

Even if someone chose to use all samsung devices, they'd need to carry USB, mini-USB, micro-SD, a 30pin adapter, or an MHL adapter and all the adapters to connect them to one another and then to their TV's and computers.

Compared to Apple's single adapter. Consumers can go to the Apple site and whatever they buy will plug into any of their Apple branded devices. They can go to monoprice for an inexpensive alternative and it will work among all of their devices.

Then you start mis-using "proprietary." It doesn't mean what you say it means. You either need to be trolling or completely oblivious to the history of DVI and HDMI to claim that they are standard, non-proprietary ports. Thunderbolt is an Intel port, not Apple's. But the same people who incessantly whine about thunderbolt talk about USB 3 completely oblivious to its limitations. But hey, who's interested in tech specs on [H]...last thread people were claiming this was a "gaming" site. Ridiculous.

So if you want to challenge people's reasoning skills you should get your facts straight and your logic intact beforehand.

The problem is you are wrong (and rude). This is typical of people in your situation--you're rude because the market doesn't cater to your needs.

Quite the contrary, the market does indeed cater to my needs, a la Android and Surface. :D
I think that you and kent are the only two in this entire thread that have been rude, insulting, and downright hateful to others because everyone else doesn't buy into the Apple Guidebook to Life.

They don't ALL do this though, so that kind invalidates your argument on the rest of them.

Android devices come with a myriad of USB, mini-USB, micro-USB ports. They have HDMI, mini-HDMI, MHL, etc. Some devices have SD slots and others have micro-SD slots.
At least we are given options using Android.
With iPads, we are forced by Apple to use their proprietary (at an additional cost, no less) adapter to achieve this functionality, again, only one thing at a time.

Even if someone chose to use all samsung devices, they'd need to carry USB, mini-USB, micro-SD, a 30pin adapter, or an MHL adapter and all the adapters to connect them to one another and then to their TV's and computers.
vs. carrying a load of Apple iPad connectors, and the SD card(s), and the cables, etc. etc.

Then you start mis-using "proprietary."
I have not mis-used 'proprietary'.
Tell me, can that Apple port adapter be used on any other device outside of iDevices?
(didn't think so)

rude, insulting, and downright hateful to others because everyone else doesn't buy into the Apple Guidebook to Life
I can think of a few folks who are rude, insulting, and downright hateful to everyone who doesn't buy into their anti-Apple Guidebook to Life. Especially on this site. Many of the folks here are exactly who they claim to hate, just on the opposite side of the fence.

The Apple guys generally don't claim to be superior, so why are the Anti-Apple guys shouting it at the top of their lungs? If you don't like their products, don't buy them or use them. Look down on Apple folks if you want, just keep it to yourself.

Well, here's an Apple guy who claims to be superior:
Not shocked a non-Apple user can't figure out how to use an iPad. Not shocking at all. What, with Android's vast and superior market of 5,000 different ways to make a fart app, you've got plenty to keep yourself entertained.
and again:
This thread is full of a bunch of whiny, broke-ass, bitch babies bitching because other people like different stuff.

Sent from my hipster iPhone 5 that hasn't been rebooted in weeks.
and again:
Faster than your computers :p so are you poor or whiny or both? Mommy buy you a 'puter for Christmas?

Oh yeah, Apple users never claim to be superior.

Here's his sig for your reference:
iMac i5 2.7GHz, 24GB DDR3, 512MB 6770M
MacBook Air i5 1.8GHz, 4GB DDR3, 128GB SSD
iPad Retina / iPhone 5 32GB AT&T / iPhone 4 8GB AT&T / Apple TV2
Underclocked C2D file server with 6TB RAID 1

I work in a large office and I travel quite a bit to other companies. People have their phones out at almost every meeting and I see what people are using as well as their computers.

Phone wise 2 years ago almost everyone had an Apple phone, 1 year ago people started asking me about my Galaxy Nexus, today almost everyone has some form of Android phone WITH certain exceptions. If someone has a Mac as their platform they have an iphone. The older the person the more likely they have a brand new iphone 4s. I almost never see an iphone5.

This is just my personal observation

1) The word is "Generally", not "Never".
Relax, I'm just giving you a [H]ard time. ;)
This thread is too easy.

Yes, there actually are quite a few helpful Apple users over at macrumors, and it has a great PowerMac section for those interested.

2) Thanks for proving my point. You hold the exact attitude that bugs you about Apple users.
Not really, Apple users are all a bunch of preppy hipster elitists, while I am so far superior and graceful in every way, shape, and form. :p

Fanboys...
You know, if forums didn't have fanboys, it would be like talking to a bunch of Spocks.
While cool at first, things would get very boring with total logic; throwing in a bit of emotional fanboism every once in a while keeps things interesting. ;)
