So I have been using my XSPC Raystorm for about 2 years now and it just hasnt been cutting it for me these days and my venture for 5.0ghz 24/7 clock with my 8350. Since I run a tech channel for YouTube, Alphacool was kind enough to send me one of the Black Chrome NexXxoS Waterblocks and the resulting temperatures have been awesome!

At one point in an extreme test last night I pushed the 8350 all the way to 5.2ghz and 1.6v!! With the resulting voltage, I expected the chip to fail however it OCCT just fine and the Socket temps stabalized at 61*c and the core temps were locked in at 57*c. 5*c below the max thermal suggested value of 62*c for 1.6v was pretty unexpected, especially on water and not a chiller.

If you are searching for waterclocks, definitely consider Alphacool. I recently build a system for a customer using the new Koolance series and these are definitely on par!

Nice block. I recently bought an Alphacool NexXxoS XP³ Light for a water cooled mini itx build I am building. I like their water cooling gear. Good stuff and decently priced.

Alphacool makes excellent blocks. While assembling my last build, I decided to run my old NexXxoS XP with the 8350, purely for fun and not expecting much, since I had the bracket (same as the 939) laying around and the block was still in great shape (in the day I had it cooling an o/c'ed Barton). This was the original nickel-plated copper one that arrived sometime around 2003 IIRC.

To my utter amazement, it not only worked well at stock, but I was able to push the 8350 to 4.8GHz, package temp hitting ~55C after about 20 minutes running Prime, all cores balls out. Before the block, the limiting factor became the socket and VRM temps causing the clockrate to throttle down.

Anyway, not bad for a 10 year old block. There's no way I'd attempt a stable 5GHz with it (and for regular use I run the 8350 at factory clock, undervolted a bit), but I see no compelling reason to replace it with something newer... tho I admit the new XP³ is tempting! (Then again I might wait for Heatkiller 4, rumored to be on the horizon...;))

What kind of rads do you use in this rig?
I'm using their rads and I wonder if I'd have a CPU block like that what my temps could be.
