Meh. Good for people who waited. I'm just glad there will be driver support now. I'm going to pick up a third on the used market. 50 bucks more for a titan is not bad.

Also, I am for seeing some flaming or trolling to commence. I hope I'm wrong.

I have no problems with the 780. It's a great card at a reasonable price. I've been gaming with my Titans for 3 months and loved every minute of it.

I see you don't have a Titan so why are you concerned?

Like I said here . . . still glad to have such a great card 3 month ago there wasn't a card that performed this way , and had so low latency and till now there still isn't one . .

still no regrets here on my Titan , not saying the 780 is not one hell of a deal , but I run single card setups now and the extra 10 percent is worth not running sli for performance to me :D

This topic will have looong long amount of pages.. People discussing.. Hope to that not happens.. People knew what titan was what titan are... And still titan its the flagship.. Price?.. No problem for much people...

I am curious to know what driver support you expect on your titan now that the 780 is released?

Considering there wasnt anything for drivers and performance for titan until the latest whql driver release. Id say thats a start.

This thread is a fail
I think its a good thread. The OP is curious on how people feel. Whats wrong with that? I clicked the post, looked at the thread poll and read the comments. I was curious as well.

I think people will realize that higher end hardware is not the best value price wise. But it is that way for most markets. In short, I think if someone spent $1000+ on a GPU they will realize similar performance will be had for $400 or so in the next year. Price just isn't a concern for them.

To the few that did not already realize that, they will probably learn from this time and adjust their buying practices next time.

Problem?

Cool story, if you can afford it and aren't living off of debt more power to you!

That said, no one can say that 54% more cash for 0-10% more performance (stock-to-stock on various models and oc-to-oc in some reviews) is even a "normal premium cost penalty"... that's just into the realm of ludicrous. I mean, even a 7970ghz vs. the 780 is ~44.4% more money and you get ~25-30% more performance from the 780. That's more like the norm.

This thread has peaked my curiosity too considering I'm now very torn between the eVGA GTX 780 SC ACX and the eVGA GTX Titan SC after the first reviews. I wanna know how the 780 out performs the Titan in surround gaming with less VRAM.

There is some truth to this. I bought a 470 a couple of years ago only to see that eclipsed by a higher end card a few weeks later. I bought a GTX 690 a few days after Titan was released. Considering the Titan, I felt the 690 was the direction I wanted to go. I don't regret it one bit cause it's a steller card and STILL the fastest card on the market. But still...damn...you wish you would have had more of these options when you make your purchase. In fact, right now, I'd say folks may want to STILL wait and see what the 770 or 760 has to offer...maybe even a 790. It must be right around the corner.

everyone know that new cards are always going to be right around the corner.

Unless the rumor mill is running hot that something is coming out within a month, I would advise to buy the best card that fits your needs and forget about it. It is too easy in this hobby to get envy when new cards come out.

6 titans on a M5E? I owned that exact same motherboard before downsizing to mini itx. That is not possible for that mobo.

The titan still has its place, albeit a little too pricey for its performance (compared to the 780), but it's currently the best option for people that can utilize 6gb of v-ram.

It would certainly be nice to have two 780's in SLI right now for a few hundred more than the cost of my Titan.

Perhaps someone can show me a game in 1440p that nears 3gb of ram usage to make me feel better. :p

Same story as GTX 670 vs GTX 680. I regretted getting the GTX 670s, I don't regret getting the Titans two months ago. 6 GB is win for pushing 11 MP and if you want to wait, keep waiting.

Crysis 3 maxed out brings me up to about 2.7-2.8 I think sometimes lol.

Yep, 3x30" and the NASA I guess...

No one expected the new cards to come out until Fall. I had already had my Titan weeks by the time people started talking about Titan lite and Titan 2 rumours.

I feel like they stuck it to their loyal fans. If the 780 would have come out in the Fall I wouldnt be as upset. I would say that I paid $200 more for the Titan than it was worth going by the 780s price.

If they would of announced that they were going to refresh in May, even without knowing the specs I would have waited. 3 months has got to be some kind of record for releasing a piece of hardware that is 8% slower for 2/3 the price.

Thats ok though. I just wont be recommending their cards to anybody that asks me anymore.

I wouldnt say I'm a fanboy but I would pay the premium for NV in the past because I liked their hardware. Going forward I will be giving AMD equal attention during my purchasing decisions.

Why would you regret getting the GTX 670's? Aren't they smaller, quieter, cheaper and only slightly less powerful?

How is that possible?

I run Hitman Absolution @ 2560x1600 w/4xAA on my GTX 480's.

You can run the game with any card/vram size, you will just be limited on vram and that will cause the game to run slower, see the [H] Titan review where all other cards struggled because of their vram limit. The Terminus mission is one of the very vram intense parts of the game, upper floor after you leave the elevator.

But it runs at a constant 60FPS...

Hitman Absolution with 8xMSAA is using over 3.5GB VRAM at 1440p in some levels.

That's allocation, not usage. Learn the difference :)... it isn't slowing anything down.

But it runs at a constant 60FPS...

That's because, as I said above, it's allocating that much when available, and not clearing out unused textures/etc. unless it's about to run out of VRAM. It's essentially no performance impact here, since it doesn't actually need the kind of VRAM he's talking about, but rather just doesn't clear out older allocations unless it's near the total VRAM available. Don't worry, people seem to not get the difference between use and allocation, and thus actual requirement vs a bloated afterburner reading :).

Cool. Most people don't think a $350+ premium to get hardware a couple of months early is reasonable though ;). Also, in the 780 Owners' thread over at OCN people are comparing high-OC titans to high-OC 780's, guess which are winning in benchmarks so far? HINT: It's not the Titans, even the ones at 1200mhz. And the 780 doesn't even have the unlocked BIOS yet ;)... which will only be even better. Enjoy your imaginary 10%. It's fine to be happy with your buy, but fud-spreading is less so.

Not a single 780 was faster than the Titan scores me or Alatar put up in that 780 thread, what are you talking about? And that's just in Valley alone at only 1080P. Valley isn't exactly the most stressful benchmark, especially at 1080 res. And what's your deal with gloating on multiple forums/threads about a card you can finally afford 3+ months later after Titan? While Titan owners were having fun w/their gear, you were sitting on the sidelines. Enjoy your card dude, glad you could finally afford one.

P.S. There's already a modded 780 vbios out there, you're just not looking hard enough to find it and its just as good as the best Titan vbios.

I'm well aware about the difference between allocation and actual usage, thanks. Yes, it is slowing minimal framerates down in HMA at high resolutions with higher MSAA modes. Have a look at the review, they're demonstrating it on page 4:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/02/21/nvidia_geforce_gtx_titan_video_card_review/4#.UaC0M5xFyM8

We really wanted to push the video cards, so we opted to run the game at the highest 8X MSAA level at 1080p to see if it would be playable. The only two video cards that could even do this were the 6GB TITAN and 3GB 7970 GE, the 2GB GTX 680 was not capable of running this setting due to its small memory footprint.

Wow, you sound pretty bitter about having wasted your money  . http://www.overclock.net/t/1393791/official-nvidia-gtx-780-owners-club/440_40#post_20041863 by the way... faster than most of the 1200mhz titans posted in there. I knew quite well the Titan was going to be a total waste of that extra cash in short order and overpriced (I also had different priorities for cash at the time, since even donald trump ran out of money at one point, and I'm not him)... turned out I was right and smart to stick with my 670 WindForce OC a couple months (hardly like I was suffering on the sidelines with such a nice card) ;).

If there's a modded 780 BIOS why don't you go educate everyone in the OCN thread, then, because people don't seem to know about it :p. I can't say I particularly looked since my card is coming in a few days, not in my rig already.

No one's "gloating" either, I'm just chuckling at people like you who still argue it is a great value and was a smart buy. What can I say, I'm allergic to bullshit, and enjoy poking fun at people who like to spread it :D.

EDIT: Re Valley only, check some reviews ;), the 780 OC'd matches the Titan OC'd in the ones I've seen (TPU, Guru3D) for the ACX cooler eVGA. You and Alatar were the ones whining that people weren't using Valley to compare though, so now that they have, you're whining that your chosen bench can't cut it? I don't get it  .

Golden Tiger we get it. Enjoy your card now that you can justify one, how did I know you would be one of the usual suspects to be trolling this specific topic?

Seriously, lol. Enjoy the card as I have enjoyed mine and still will enjoy it. There is no reason for Titan owners to be bitter. Yet you keep throwing it out like gospel.

I'm throwing it out there when they act it ;). Otherwise I couldn't care much less about what other people own, unless they're giving it to me. Then maybe I'd care. :D

Heh. But no need to start a flame war man. I mean people buying these cards should have fully known what they were getting themselves into. It'll still be a good card for a few years. In 2 years when I do another upgrade it'll still be good I hope. Hehe
