Xbox Announcement Live Stream

I'll honestly buy this just for the TV stuff. A silent bluray player with voice recognition?

Cable boxes are so far behind the curve with regards to this that it isn't even funny. If they have a good slate of games at E3 it will be icing on the cake. The only use for my PS3 today is BluRay and I haven't touched my X360 in who knows how long.

As a media device? Microsoft might have hit a home run. The jury's still out on the gaming side of things though.

Guys, guys, guys.....

You can watch TV on it! :D

Ah, I remember TV.

But then I remember...

Sony showed game play and Sony will be at E3. MS simply failed on this one in my opinion or at the very least could have done better.

You have to remember that this was the BIG reveal man...REVEAL...yet they hardly revealed anything outside what it looks like, sports, sports, and more sport, and TV control. I thought this was a gaming console, no? Some gaming would have been nice and was certainly somewhat expected I would imagine.

On what? A PS4? Hate to tell you this. They didn't. It was some Core i7 7970 with 32GB of ram development machine. What does an unfinished game on a fake version of an unfinished system really help you accomplish?

I admit that I will be buying PS4 only this Fall and I am biased but this presser hit where it wanted. MS focused on stuff that Americans watch, do, and play the most... NFL and COD - both top sellers this generation in regards to gaming and current gen consoles. MS built a console around that and that is how they will market it now. It was a conference for the masses, to those who don't care paying for Live $50-$60 a year. I'm very curious how far it will take MS next gen.

Maybe I'm alone on this (but I'm pretty sure I'm not) but the reason I watch these announcements is to see what I can expect WHEN I buy the PS4 and the Xbox One. Not "IF" but "WHEN". Like most (non-fanboy) people, I have PCs and both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. All serve different purposes and when the new generation of consoles come out, I'll own those too.

It is pretty damn obvious that people screaming in all caps "I am never buying (insert console) now..." never planned on buying it in the first place.

I'm not sure most people (not even fanboys) can afford a high end rig + consoles and games for each. So although you may not be alone, you're not part of a crowd.

Anyway I see your point. All serve different purposes but most people (even fanboys) will settle with one option, not all of the above.

Meh...You lost part of my attention when you implied that I watch TV thru a cable or Sat connection.

the sleek black aesthetic looks like something Sony would make..

I hope the hard drive won't be locked into a proprietary MS replacement. 500GB is not enough storage for Games and TV/movies.

You sure? They said FINAL PS4 hardware. I highly doubt what you are saying...back it up. Link? Article? Anything?

Either way it doesn't matter...what we were shown is what we will get and that doesn't change the fact that the PS4 is still the superior console by a good bit it would seem.

This would be awesome for my dad, who always seems to have controller confusion (tries to change channels with the audio controller, can't get the right input, etc)

I am pretty sure I speak for others when I say, I want the community to be vocal about what they are buying and not buying. Any time I hear people call Windows 8 crap or I'm that they are more or less not interested in the Xbox One, I'm glad for the feedback.

Whew...I was worried you were going to have a melt down for a minute.

Hey, reading the nerd rage in the comments section is why I still come to the front page section! I need a good laugh from time to time.

Generally getting all three is a viable option and more so now then ever before for the people that maintain decent computers.

That's not always an option for the people that settled on the Xbox 360 and/or PS3.

ghosts actually looks like a decent cod game... graphics finally on same level as battlefield lol

Just ignore him. It's clear that he has a PS controller stuck up his ass.

No it isn't that it's just that PS4 is going to be the faster console and the features that MS showed off are things I don't really care for. I only watch shows on Netflix and Hulu...both consoles support that so the PS4, for me, is going to be the console to get.

Forgive him, it is hipster-current to call every complaint that anyone with a cell phone has a "First-World" problem. I am guessing they still bitch over every little thing in their lives as well...especially when they run out of weed.

Well I'm flattered you think I'm that young.

Actually its a little thing called perspective. Not being a hipster or smoking weed. I don't partake myself, maybe a nice gin & tonic instead. Chin chin!

But I think maybe a little weed might help some here, though they might be a bit young for all that. Maybe some warm milk.

Now I understand the console wars have been going on for years. I think the N64 Vs PS were some of the worst.

But what ever happened to just being gamers? Don't get me wrong, right now I own both PS3 and XBox 360 , not to mention my Gaming Rig and Laptop(s). But why can't people just be excited for some great piece of hardware, extending our entertainment needs for another 4-6 years? I watched the Sony presentation, and I watched the XBox presentation. I think they both had their ups and downs, but I will most likely shoot for a XBox one, and then a PS4 later. I'm a born gamer and will continue to be one.

I could care less that they are gearing this for cable or satellite TV... They really missed the mark on games and the rest is just... Meh! I don't think I will be buying this and the fact it is always online plus having to pay a fee for their 'service'.

Interested to see more about the PS4 defenitely.

Oh, it's nice you can afford to have a first world drinking problem. :D

The internet if dominated by people who only express themselves through need rage.

I agree though, I didn't see anything that was worthy of raging over. It was fine, gave some nice info left a lot on the table too discuss but I think all of that will be answered prior to the release.

Sure they can, because no one is talking about buying them on launch day.

As with damn near everything people in general buy, we get the thing we absolutely have to have (PC) and then we pick up the other things (PS4 - Xbox - Wii U) when we can in the order of importance to us.

I personally don't know anyone that doesn't have a mix of all the above (PC, PS4, Xbox 360, Wii, etc.).

I think as the costs have climbed into the 399-599 range the need for more features has grown to help alleviate the cost ... also, with HDTVs so prevalent and 4K TVs on the horizon the battle for the Living Room has never been higher ... that is why the PC is getting put on the back burner since it isn't a living room appliance ... the consoles, tablets, and phones are ... whichever company can dominate the living room will make BIG bucks ;)

Well, it has been a hilarious aftermath of something I held some interest in.

My mouth is full of stitches so it is quite painful to laugh.
On that note, it is 4am and I am off to bed.

so much EXPERIENCE and CONTENT. i can imagine all the suits in some corporate meeting room with a host of consultants yelling "EXPERIENCE" and "CONTENT". nobody plays or uses or even downloads "content".

and i never thought about my "experience" with something. i call it fun. i don't think i have heard the word "fun" a single time during the whole presentation.

Well you have plenty of people trolling in here....I got a PS3 after I had an Xbox360 and I barely used to game on...its been regulated to playing Blu-Rays. Not a bad system but I never got into it...

It's called money. Consoles are expensive. As are the games and accessories. People are generally able to purchase only one console and maybe have a prebuilt computer from Wal-Mart or Best Buy with a mediocre graphics card if they are lucky. As such, people will defend their 'side' vehemently because as much as they may want the other console, they can't afford it.

But, on a more fundamental level? Us versus them. That's it. Basic human nature.

Internet and experience with launches like this have always taught me to never trust someone who won't show you the system it is running on. I have heard those same lines at least ten times in the past and found out some supped up emulation box in the was doing the work. Right off the bat I would question just based off of software builds, if the game is in development then they aren't going to have a game right then to toss it in. Which means they are getting a development copy which would make it pretty annoying to test out stable ones if the distribution is quick publishing the build to disc tossing it in to the system going through a play through and then repeating as needed. No a development system networked live to the version control library that can swap back and forth is going to be better for this.

What I do believe is that they might have considered themselves to be telling the truth by have the emulation software being tighten closer to action hardware in the box (instead of allowing extra resources during early parts of development before optimization). What's a good bit? Neither of them has announced any actual performance information about the system's and in the end they are practically running the same CPU/GPU. Now the PS3's specs were greatly better than the Xbox 360's but early games looked worse on the PS3 and late in game the difference in the two are pretty marginal. So I am not even sure whatever slight differences between pretty similar APU's and system specs will have any actual playable or visible impact on our gaming experiences.

I never got this. Why not play it? Uncharted 2, Ni No Kuni and Demon's Souls are considered some of the best games this gen. Why not try them?

You missed out on the best console wars - Nintendo vs. Sega. :)

This is another great combo - Sony vs. Microsoft. I like the Xbox One, it looks elegant, has a lot of features and looks like a good piece of hardware. I'm not going to dismiss the PS4, but I wasn't too impressed with the PS3, so I do have that small bias. Still, the Xbox One looks like it would be a going to buy for me. Maybe not day 1, but definitely something I'd buy. PS4. Maybe.

OK...so what you are saying is that you made some shit up? The demos were on final hardware...even Epic has released demos using final hardware since then.

But what ever happened to just being gamers?

The fear of "always online" and "no used games", etc etc is what has me in tiff about consoles. We (gamers) lost the DLC "war", the always online / draconian DRM push is happening now and I frankly I don't want it to happen. Otherwise of course i'm excited for the new consoles, it means that PC ports will not suck for a few years.

I'd actually be quite interested in this simply for the TV, internet and media features, that together with the kinect functionality is realy slick. Now if it was able to stream archived TV recordings from my NAS which are in TS file format then that would be great.

You know that how exactly. Sony didn't show any hardware of any kind....just paper specs. Footage was done on "equivalent hardware" which proves nothing. Sony has a long history of blowing smoke up users' asses.
Microsoft at least showed what the thing will look like and had footage captured running on the actual hardware.

Regardless, making a decision this early on unreleased essentially vaporware hardware is just asinine.
