Sony has announced the sixth installment of the Gran Turismo franchise will be available by this holiday season for the PS3. Gran Turismo 6 will have 33 tracks with 71 layouts with 1200 cars, all fully customizable.

Hmm hopefully this version wont have taken so long in development hell, that it doesn't have the obvious 'growth rings' the previous version had.

You could almost guess the year certain parts were developed in. Messy.

Smells like one last money grab to milk any and all PS3 sales before the PS4 hits.

I can easily see them making some GT6/system bundle to help deplete all their stock for the holiday season, and then after they clear most everything out they will roll out with GT6: BBQ HD HQ WTF SE edition.

GT5 had solid racing elements, but the rest of the game is a total clusterfuck. Half the cars are unfinished, the UI is perhaps the worst in gaming history, and you'll spend half of your play time waiting for shit to load.

I really hope they put more effort into presentation this time around.

all this makes me want to go play some Forza -- love the series and have all of them on the 360 -- i just got hugely distracted by BF3 and Borderlands like a year ago, lol

it actually wasn't too bad with an install onto a SSD. Had a spare Corsair M4 256GB that I threw into my ps3. it definitely felt likeit made a big difference

I really like the GT series, however....GT5 was not so great. I'm on the fence with GT6 and will probably pass. The early GT games were great, but GT5 seemed very sterile (for lack of better word).

I'm leaning more towards PC games anyway, but the next racer I'm looking forward to is rfactor2 (Yeah, I know I can buy it now.....I mean as a finished product).

Should have made it for PS4.
After GT 5, this feels ho hum... PS4 would have breathed a little more life into the game, i think.

I must be getting old or something. I can't say that I'm excited about or even interested in this, and I'm a huge fan of racing games.

I bet you we'll see Google create Skynet before we see GT6 actually release on time. No fucking way this doesn't get delayed. GT's creator is famous for his last minute changes..

If only $ony would pull it's head out of it's buttox, and develop this game for a proper gaming platform like the PC, life would be great for the driving sim enthusiast!

Meh, GT series never had very realistic physics, or force feedback, they keep spending all their time modeling a bunch of boring ass streetcars.

The pan out at the end looks awful. The world textures and geometry are absolutely horrible. Tracks look completely barren and the background/tree textures look like PS2 junk.

To Sony releasing this on PS3, I say, I will be playing Drive Club on PS4, instead.
5 wasn't that great anyway.

That looked so wrong on many levels. Just looks lie the cars remain stock still and the scenery moves around them.

The tracks are so smooth the suspension arms don't move.

It looks good but the physics and natural elements that should hold it all together are missing.

I play GT5 on my Samsung SSD almost everyday still :D It's not a perfect game but it is the best Tuner game series ever. I paid 19.99 for the XL edition. It's a very good game for that price it's worth 49.99. GT6 looks like it will be a more balanced game overall than 5, so I'm stoked! Cleaned up the UI, loading times should be sweet now that I have a SSD. I can't wait to play the demo, I hope the tuning is better for the online stuff with more variables than GT5 has, not enough tuning imo. Stupid cheaters online could make this annoying though unless Poly gets it under complete control, time.

Ugh. With the length of Polyphone's development cycle, I wish they'd push this back to be a PS4 exclusive.

Looks good. 5 looked good to but it had no soul.

Yeah, 5 is pretty annoying. A lot of it is very polished except for the part where it is fun to play. The whole 'B' series or whatever where you hire an AI driver, and their races are real time... because we really want to watch AI race AI. It's too bad, because GT1 and 2 did so much right. Think I probably logged as many hours in GT5 prologue (IE, the $40 demo, that looked better than the full version - albeit with less cars on the track), as I did the actual GT5 release. I know I've spent more time painting cars in Forza 5 than I've played GT5. As bad as the lack of meaningful gameplay is, the PSP release was worse... no real game at all, just car buying and quick race, it's like playing a tech demo.

The only pillar left for GT5 is a minor advantage in driving physics when using a wheel, but even that is pretty hollow when you consider if physics is your be-all, there are considerably better PC options, and probably some other better console options at this point as well. There is still the framework of an interesting game there, but I think the series needs some new blood at the helm. Think it would also help for them to take a serious look at the Forza car stable compared to theirs, it's not really a pure #'s game anymore, there is a lot of value to vehicle diversity (having every trim level or every year of RX7 isn't really diversity), and letting the user community have a voice on the car packs has led to some awesome inclusions (family truckster race, why yes please). They should also consider the user community options, despite the very low install base of 360's in Japan, the volume of Japanese specific content on the Forza marketplace is huge, suggesting there is a great deal of untapped demand even in their home market for that type of customization. I'm not holding my breath though, doesn't seem to be any interest at PD at taking queue's from outside.

Please for the love of all things car related, give the cars real engine sounds, and ditch the NASCAR section no one plays.

Do the vehicles have mounted guns?

If you want mounted guns, I would check out this game:

Gas Guzzlers Combat Carnage

It's just a small dev company making a 3d racing game like old school death rally. They recently just released a big patch 1.3.1 which should fix several of the issues they had. I still need to get my friends together to see if they fixed the MP lag issues in racing, but the game it well worth the $15 for the single player.

Just got back into it again after not playing it for some time and it's still pretty fun and challenging! Lots of humor in it and plenty of action. The game is arcady so keyboard and mouse or gamepad is probably the best input method. The patch notes do say they added FFB into 1.3.1 so a wheel could be fun as well.

I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up GT6 either. I definitely agree with you DarkSaturn that I don't care for B spec and it seems like the game lost all of the bits that we more fun. The leveling system seems to really limit what events you can do and since you have to unlock or track down cars it might not be possible to play or you may not want to do all of the niche races like the vitz cup. I miss the manufacturer's challenge where you could go to the dealerships, buy a car, and be able to do a few races.
