RIFT becomes free to play on June 12th!

Good game, though I have a feeling it is a ghost town. Anyone still play?

I'm kinda playing the other Trion game, Defiance.
 
I played this game a lot for the two months after release. Then I didn't really touch it since. Since it's going free to play, I'll definitely have to try it out again.
 
It's actually going fully free-to-play with a cash shop. ALL content including level 60 (max level) and every raid, dungeon, pvp area, etc. in the game will be fully accessible with no restrictions after the transition. There's more specifics on their site, but this takes effect June 12th. "Level 20" is their old trial version, which is what the OP is mentioning.
 
And if you want an owner's level account with the extra character slots and other bonuses before F2P launch, consider checking out the Raptr promo which will give you a game key for free for playing the game for 12 hours (including the trial version)!

Wife and I took a year break only to come back and try it out after Storm Legion came out, and now we're both playing it again... they did a lot of good things, including redoing the souls, a lot of new gear, 10 more levels, new maps, etc. Only thing that seems to be an issue still is warriors complain a lot, even though they are still 2nd in melee damage. Luckily, I play a mage, and I will let another person explain why...
 
My guild and I used to avidly play it, until Trion hit clerics and rogues with a nerf bat.
Now that its free to play might be worth checking out for some people.
 
Weird, I just signed up for a trial account a few days ago and now they're announcing that it'll be F2P soon. Good timing.
 
I started playing Rifts again a week ago, so the F2P comes at a good time for me (still on my 30 days from buying SL). The game seems to have a pretty solid core of players and I would expect most of them to continue subscribing. Honestly I thought Rift was a great value for $15/month... It's going to be a steal at FREE!

Earlier today, one of the servers had a queue apparently due to an influx of new people checking out Rift via Rift Lite.
 
I'm Finerty@deepwood or Maskoroz@deepwood. Love this game. PLayed EQ for 12 years and had to pay for 5 accounts and multibox to accomplish much, loved EQ but was a time sink. I can get on rift, play for an hour and get stuff done.
 
I played for the first four or five months but never picked up Storm Legion. Do I need to buy it to access the content, or will it be included when it goes F2P?

Thank you sir, you are a man among boys. I think I'll pick up SL just to get all the souls and what not. I really liked the game a lot just couldn't play enough to justify the monthly fee.

Is this code a unique code or a generic multi-use type code? I'd be interested if anyone has a spare one to use. $10 sounds like a good deal.
 
Yesterday, I just installed the Rift Client and the Raptr Client and kept it logged in for 14 hrs total and I got a free copy of the game this morning. I actually played actively maybe 4 hours and the rest I just remote logged in from work and kept the connection alive. Yea, free game. I only did it to make sure I get the four free souls when the game goes free-to-play.
 
I played rift for a few months, and i really liked the game -- but all of my friends wouldnt switch from world of warcraft -- so i went back to molten wow. . game is only as fun as the people you play with :)

Now that its free, im going to give it another try.

Brilliant! Were you logged fully into the game or just sitting at the login screen or what?

It automatically logs you out due to inactivity, so you actually cant do it the way you describe. You can sit at the login screen (or the screen that tells you that you've been DC'ed) ... in other other words, as long as the exe is running :)

(make sure raptr detects the game)
 
thanks for letting me know! I liked rift but $15/month was too much.
 
I can't get the raptr thing to work... when I click CLAIM it goes to nothing?

edit:

nvm got it... but how come RIFT isn't showing up on raptr when I am playing it?

You need to login. The raptr thing worked fine for me, I left it on overnight and when I woke up I claimed the various items and the expansion.
 
i never played rift til just a couple days ago, not really sure if i like it or not.
like schizo said with rapt it seems you dont even have to play to get the play time credit, just log in and walk away lol
 
Yeah. Was running the game last night and they had 3000+ codes left. Woke up today and none left :(

Oh well.
 
I had came back about 3 months ago and was loving it.

F2P came at a bad time for me, esp announcing gear will be on the cash shop from some raids and stuff, albeit after they have been replaced with newer content.

I am pretty against any type of real usable gear being on shops, so it's a deal-breaker and I canceled sub and such :(
 
playin wow i never seen much talk on the open channels about other MMOs
Rift is like none stop, but i think its becuz most of them are coming from either GW2 or WoW or both

No i'd have to agree with him here, the level 1-29 chat is atrocious, 95% is about other wow clones and other mmos, and the other 5% is trolling and garbage

Soon as I hit 15 I'll transfer, I'm on Seastone now and I'm not much of a PVP'er.
