HDD died

Woke up this AM, checked HFM first thing like always and found a dead 4P (Logopolis).
At first I thought the Master was killing more mathematicians but after looking at the dead machine I found the HDD died.
The only up side to this is it was working an 8101.

bigted, here is your chance to mow me over since I don't know when I will have it running again.

i can send you an HDD, i have one of my machines operating on IDE since musky's script uses a ramdisk anyways

Why would you even need a hdd? just use a usb memory stick and run fah in a ramdisk.

Thanks for the offer but I am sure I have a spare drive here.
Right now time is the killer since it is planting season.
Usually when I get out of the fields and get through getting the equipment ready for the next day and messing around in the machine shop I have no ambition to do anything but surf the web or sleep.

Well Brother John you need to slide over and make some room for me in that boat you are in, I woke up this AM to a message on the screen of one of my boxes that said (Warning HDD Failure Iminnant). It must be those damn 8101's because that rig is on 1 also, (Just Kidding there) That makes #3 in the last 2 months. I would guess 2 more are ging to die soon since I bought all 5 of the Segrate 7200 11 HDD at the same time about 5 years ago. Any way I just ordered 3 SSDs to replace them hopefully they get here before the others die since I only have 1 spare left and I will be using it today.

don't be too lazy, i have hexes coming in to replace quads on monday, i do enjoy the dance

YES! I couldnt get the new 4P up last night, this is just the chance I needed!

On a side note, all you need to do is grab a 4GB usb stick and get it back up. I can throw one in the mail for you if need be!

Heh, I got a USB image I use and doc the settings for my boxes just in case they tank. Literally 20min and I am up. However, I also lose the WU. I should look at PXE booting them.
