Neverwinter MMO, 100% FREE! :)

Tried downloading this last night via gamershell (fastest speed so far), and it kind of crapped out halfway through. Going to try the torrent solution tonight. Have a buddy that would like to try it with me, so heres hoping it isn't disappointing. The gameplay videos make it look insanely great.

I've been trying to play this for 2 days.

I have a new baby at home, so my computer time is limited to about 45 minute stints. I've yet to be able to get past the queue and get in during one of my blocks.

Opinions on whether I should keep trying to play?

Judging from what people have been saying/gameplay videos, yes. Very yes.

I would say give it a shot. Launch it and get in the queue before you start cooking dinner, putting the kids to bed, etc. Then hopefully you can log in. Unfortunately servers were down for quite some time yesterday evening around 10pm eastern.

Definitely give it a shot, it's worth playing.

Like my other MMOs, if I start the launcher and it has trouble connecting, I just play something else and hope I can get on again later.

I haven't hit any queues since they said they fixed it. So far the game is awesome, especially for being free. Really reminds me of GW2, but better.

On the plus side, they also patched the server last night too, so they won't do downtime for that today.

Has anyone messed around with the foundry much? There's a few things I can't really figure out that seem kinda important to me...locked doors(that unlock with either a lever pull or killing a monster or finding an item), and how to do some kind of "boss" fight. Creating areas is easy enough though, and the flow of the quest itself is relatively straightforward.

Anyone figured out how to get 120Hz to stick in video settings for supporting monitors?
Mine keeps defaulting to 60Hz every single time

So I am trying to download the game, and after about 2-3 minutes of downloading, the client starts uploading and maxing out my connection on the upload (was at like 300 KB/s). I can change the QOS on it, but I have no idea what it could be uploading. I stopped it and tried to download it again with the same result. Both times was from the direct download link at the publisher's website. Anyone else experience this? I have only let it go maybe 4-5 minutes because I didn't know what was causing my internet to stall out at first, but that is still 60-70 MB of data uploaded.

On page 6

Thanks for the suggestion, didn't work for me though. I tried resetting default values and tried both no frame lock and then 120hz.
What is it with MMO's these days and the buggy support for 120hz monitors? First Defiance, now Neverwinter...guess I try again a few months, hopefully they'll have it sorted by then.

Game is a good one. For free? Really good. No issues so far. If you like this kind of game, try it. Worth playing.

Try a mirror, gamefront is fast.

Mtbush type /maxfps 120 in the chat Window.... Bumped me up to proper fps

Maximized borderless window or fullscreen - does one mode run better than the other?
Also, why isn't there an anisotropic filtering option? I don't get why every game doesn't have this option since there's no performance impact. Or is it just 16x enabled by default?

If this was mentioned pages back, sorry, I didn't wade through all the pages. There any [H] formed guilds on any of the servers? I honestly don't remember which server I started on LOL.

There isn't one , at least from what I've seen.

I'm playing ont he mindflayer server, name is Stiler Orion in game, I'm lv 30 atm also about to start a Great weapon fighter alt (they supposedly suck hard lv 1-30 then bloom late game into decent fighters.

I'm up to level 10 now and actually enjoying the game a lot more than I thought I would. I can't put my finger on it, the game seems pretty mediocre in so many ways, but there's something about it that's fun for me. It has a bit of an old school vibe to it, or maybe that's just me remembering the setting from games long ago. I haven't even tried a Foundry mission yet, looking forward to those.

Invisible walls, quest hubs, etc... this game has nothing for me. Just another template MMO. Oh well.

I'm on beholder as well. I'm having fun with this for now but I'm not sure how I feel about it. A lot are saying its pay to win.

It's not relaly pay to win, just a lolt of people annoyed at how expensive the cash shop is (40 bucks for mount or a companion is quit ea lot of money, especially compared to other f2p games with a cash shop.

All previous perfect world games are pay to win, so I wouldn't doubt this.

Is the companion factored in on difficulty on the scaled encounter scheme they use?

Ah, damn. Looks like I am going to have to download the beta to try it out. :p

I managed to purchase Zen on the wrong damn account, wonder if they do refunds or transfer them to the right account? I opened a ticket but they're so busy they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Played LITERALLY all day yesterday (with a few breaks in between), but it was possibly one of the most fun experiences I've had in a long time. Sure I'm kind of burnt out on MMOs in a way, but there's something about this that I can't quite put my finger on. The combat's just damn fun.

Was playing with a buddy the entire way through, both as control wizards, and it's just excellent fun laying the smack down on people. The PvP was fun, and the dungeons kick ass. Like I said, can't really explain why it's so fun when it's basically the same MMO formula, but the combat definitely stands out as purely killer. There also appears to be a ton to do in terms of crafting and side missions (player created). All of this for basically free? Can't beat that.

I realize I'm overhyping it to a degree, but that's just my two cents. I've basically forgotten about my other backlog games heh. If anyone wants to join us, we're on the "Dragon" server. Whisper Ottomobile@bih115.

Actually there is an anisotropic option, it's in the advanced section. If you've got a halfway decent computer the slider should already be at max (16x). There's a massive amount of video settings, great news for us.

Free's free. Why not try it? My boy BiH115 here has spelled out enough tantalizing tidbits for me. Can't hurt none. ;)

I play on Beholder too. I just hit lvl 21, and being free, its a nice change of pace. I would still play WoW off and on if I didnt have to pay a monthly fee. This game is just right for me and my ADHD with video games. travon@reconsniper if anyone wants to add me.

It's nothing revolutionary by any means, but the combat sure is different enough to be extremely enjoyable, especially as a caster. Cleric's (healers) seem like a ton of fun, and are very similar to how Priests played in WoW, which is a great playstyle if you've ever had a chance to experience that, for all those healer fanatics.
