Crashplan Unlimited Online Backup 1 Year Free

Nice. I'm signing up. I'm not going to abuse it, I really just want to make sure my photos are offsite. RAID-Z plus local backup still makes me uneasy.

Wonder if there's a FreeNAS plugin...
 
The free would be great for my server....You can use Windows Backup & Restore from other computers in the house and use the server as the destination to channel the backups through the 1 computer.

I'm thinking about getting the family plan though so I can get my parents on it too

I already have Amazon Cloud for my music, I really like it because its just $20 a year but you get unlimited music space and having the player app on my phone is very convienent. But you only get 20GB for "everything else", which isn't enough my family photos. Plus I got a library of 600+ ripped movies currently on a RAID5.
 
Is Crashplan Central down for anybody else who signed up? Mine has been trying to connect for 10 hours.
 
Works fine for me.

Just use a different email address.
 
My backup of my WHS finally finished, 93,985 files 445.5GB
 
Have used it now for a few months on my laptop (where I keep most of the important stuff) and its pretty awesome, after this free year expired definitely getting it again and will be getting the one that lets me do all my computers.

Takes a while to upload everything but then it manages it decently well that I never know when its uploading.
 
So far, I'm happy enough that when the year comes to an end I'll sign up for the paid version. About 1/2 way through 1.4 TB so far (thankfully Comcast doesn't have a data cap). Once that finishes, I'll start adding more, but that was the "critical" stuff I want to make sure I have a second backup of (1st is on my DroboPro).

Still don't think Comcast is going to be very happy with me. Almost 500GB last month from starting the process and over 500GB this month with a week left to go ;)
 
Anyone have a new promo for CP? My 1 year from last year is up, and while I wouldn't mind paying for it, I am tight on money until next month. I don't want them to delete everything I have backed up:(:(....
 
damn you! I opened this thread thinking I was going to be able to get another year for free!

Just pay for it. Or risk them deleting it. I haven't seen any new promo's.

It's 5 bucks a month, give up eating out for lunch one day, or pass up on a few soft drinks/coffee

I don't drink anything other then water, and don't eat out, but thanks for the advice. Perhaps you missed the post above? I did not realize they had a month to month plan when I first posted.
