Nice review but did you find some problem when mounting expansion cards ?

from Anandtech :

I had no problem at all (even with 3-way SLI) and I have big fat meat hooks. ;)

Corsair: take what you did there and make it in something the size of the 600 and ill buy it lol

+1. That 900D is an awesome case that I would buy if I had a need for so much room. Been exceedingly happy with the 800D I have now. But next build will not be full size tower. Nice, damn nice, case!

Corsair seems to just keep cranking out case after case in this line and each of them is amazing. They are starting to really tempt me to buy a new case.

I hate that the side window is tinted.
Is the tinting a plastic film which can be removed? Atleast in cars it's always a plastic film..

Still waiting on something this size in Reverse ATX so I can replace my ABS Black Pearl (V2000B clone)

I didn't notice it being tinted. But I can tell you window tint film does not like adhering to plexiglass at all. You can get it on there, but it won't stay forever. So if the window is tinted, I would assume it's made from a resin that's chemically tinted.

I really dig this case, it's big and sexy! Great work Corsair.

I wanted this case so bad, but with the supply issues, I ended up finding an insane deal on a caselabs sth10.

Redbeard/George, any idea when the next batch will find its way to Newegg or Amazon? Itching to get one. Nice job by the way, already own a 650d, this is my next for sure.

According to their sites:

Newegg: ETA 4/30
Amazon: No ETA listed on site

I don't imagine the Silverstone rotated mounting is patented, be nice to see a case form corsair with the rotated motherboard mounting where the IO plate and exhaust it out the top, Ive been a big fan of the cases from Silverstone for this feature but they have their issues

FT02 is expensive and not nearly enough room behind the motherboard
RV03 is priced better and has the room but its all cheesy plastic on the external and the top cover is plastic

i like the features of the 900 but dont have/need the space, look forward to seeing what trickles down to something in the size of the 600t from this..not terribly thrilled with my rv03 at the moment lol

The fans being mounted close to the components contributes to cooling more than the motherboard orientation. Visually I like the 90 degree mounting.
I wouldn't want to see Corsair copy Silverstone. I think they should continue to do their style, and they've sold many case doing just that.

Oh Redbeard, can you please please please hop in and tell us if this case has a tinted window or not?

It is a very light tint, we call it a 10% tint. It's barely noticeable unless the system is off and in the right lighting conditions.

Great review. Questions:

Will a 4 CPU mobo fit? Or an SR-2?

I didn't see any actual dimensions for the mobo mount area.

Note: Something all heavy cases need are handles. Few come with them. My Lian megacase (SR2 sized) is a bitch to move.

Looks good, a step up from the 800D

Only concern is the open back of the case. I wonder how much dust will get in over time.

Aha, lighting conditions. The pics on the net are a fine example of that -- they make it look like a dark(er) tint. That would explain the confusion and people swearing the window was tinted (hinting at it being a dark tint). Thanks for clearing that up!

So in short:

case windows tinted? Technically, yes.
dark tinted? No.

This case is awesome. I can't wait to get mine. Mow I just have to save up for watercooling gear

No love for the Nofan at the bottom of page 4?

The Nofan cooler is only 148mm tall, the Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E is 165mm without fans installed.

If I was testing for motherboard / component clearance it would definitely be the cooler to have but, we are testing for case clearance, so there is no reason to include the Nofan as it is shorter than almost all the coolers we already test with. :)

Will a Corsair H110 with it's 140mm width fit in the top without modification of the case? Or would we need to stick with the H100I?

I posted this in the 800D review thread :)

The companies I'm talking about are Caselabs and the FT04 which is coming next month.

As for the 900D, I cringe at any case that has more than 3 5.25 bays without a door. An optional door that could be removed would have went a long way at keeping the sleek look.
Especially when the bays are extra wide, breaking up the lines of the front fascia when the covers are removed. Think TJ10.

The 350D looks a lot better because of keeping the 5.25" bays to only two.

Sad to see that you wasted this case and review on only air cooling.:confused::confused:

Reading the review actually helps with :confused::confused:. We cover the following in EVERY one of our case reviews:

Antec KÜHLER H2O 620
Antec KÜHLER H2O 920
Corsair H60
Corsair H100
Thermaltake Water2.0 Extreme
Swiftech MCR220 XP
Black Ice Xtreme II
Swiftech MCR320 XP

As far as the reasoning behind using temperature results based on air cooling, temperature readings with a heatsink / fan serve as the baseline for what you can expect from the case being reviewed. Obviously adding extra fans / watercooling / phase change cooling / moving to the south pole, will only yeild better results.

Obviously moving to the south pole will only yield better results.

That's a brilliant idea. We should open a new Antarctic base where we will recommend all our cooling products get tested.

Corsair South, coming 2016.
