Where is Skyrim screenshot thread?

Tropical mod. Very vanilla settings with a stock enb enabled. Just getting this install started. Still looks pretty sweet.

I am inspired by the screenshots to do a complete, fresh re-install and start a new game. Can you guys posting them list the mods you are using? My current install is pretty nice looking, but not quite to the quality of what I am seeing here.

Edit: Scrolled back through thread and found most of my answers

way too many pictures on this page, I'll wait until page 30. I used 'texture pack combiner' as a base to update most of the textures in the game, then went from there installing whatever textures I needed.

Some of the shots on this thread are incredible. I want to set up a modded Skyrim install but it seems like it would take a whole weekend just to get it working.

Ok, so I did it this weekend -- total re-install and re-mod of Skyrim.

I used the texture pack combiner with just about every option, minus 4 or 5. Then I added climate and lighting mods (COT + RLO), then character body and texture mods, clothing, armor and weapon mods (about a dozen or so), then I added many game changing mods I enjoy playing with, then a few extra areas, town and village mods, extra dungeons and housing. Added a custom ENB setting in there somewhere too. Up to about 91 mods in total, including the one massive TPC I created. Everything looks fantastic and runs surprisingly smooth on my system. Maybe still not quite up to the quality of the shots in this thread, but very close, and pretty much playable.

BUT, my game is crashing to desktop every once in a while. Basically an out of the blue straight dump to desktop with no warning, no error, no indication of anything wrong, nothing. I am guessing it is a memory issue with so many hi-res textures... Is this just a common problem I will have to live with? Seems a lot of people have these issues when googling. I save every few minutes now, and expect a crash like this pretty much every 30-45 minutes or so. Not an extreme problem for me but quite an inconvenience and very annoying for sure.

Do I need a 4GB video card? (I'm currently running a single 680gtx 2GB and 3770k with 16GB system ram). I haven't yet monitored in-game VRAM & RAM usage, but I plan to and am guessing this might be part or all of the problem.

Any advice?

  • Excessive VRAM usage may also accompanied by a significant and noticeable stutter whenever you move around quickly in cities or heavily wooded/grassy areas. This happened to me on my 2GB 680's after heavily texture modding Skyrim. Sure enough, while running Precision X, I saw my VRAM peaking at just over 2GB at the same time the stutter would occur.
  • Also note that your shadow settings in the SkyrimPrefs.ini can drastically increase VRAM usage as well. When I set the iShadowMapResolution to 8192 (from 4096) I noticed an increased VRAM usage of ~ 30%! This is at 2560x1600 though and combined with a number of additional ini shadow tweaks so your results may differ.
  • With regard to ini tweaks, I have read on several sites/forums/mod guides, that having your uGridstoload set to anything above 5 (the default) will eventually cause save game corruption and random CTD's. I've not confirmed this personally so take it with a grain of salt but, if you've used a setting like 7 for a significant amount of time on your saved game, it may be something to consider.
  • I would definitely suggest monitoring your VRAM usage because, if you're not seeing any stuttering, it may simply be due to mod incompatibility. To help with that I would suggest (if you aren't already) running BOSS to review/correct your load order and possibly detect incompatible mods, and then use Wrye Bash to merge any mods with leveled lists. You're nowhere near the mod limit though so I wouldn't worry about merging .esps.

Every time I see that bikini chain armor, I feel like going to watch porn.

Don't know if I should ever install that, or else I'd be distracted the entire time.

Wow have never seen Skyrim look this beautiful makes me want to replay it just to install the mods

Kinda how I feel about the lingerie clothing...too distracting. :D

All pics are as always untouched except fifth and the last one they were slightly edited .
90% of this shots were taken with my new preset , also includes many close ups with my two new chars.

Hey DJ anyway I could get your ENB.ini settings from you. Or tell me in a PM what I need to do to get my game to look like that. Your pictures are great and I love that lighting. Looks very realistic imo.

Also what grass are you using?

Thanks.

What's the stuff dripping down the female characters faces/bodies?

nice pictures dj. your coloring and lighting is spot on imo

Thanks. Did you ever get a chance to play Skyrim with your new video card?

Thank you, Krenum.

I'll try to send over my ENB stuff tonight. My ENB isn't complete though, and I make small tweaks to it once in a while as I'm still trying to adjust it to the newer ENB versions (I think ~v.130 was where it kind of messed up how my config looked). However, maybe you'll have a good base to tweak to your liking.

Besides ENB, I don't use anything else other than the obvious texture and mesh mods.

The grass is from Skyrim Flora Overhaul Summer Edition.

Sweat that I think is from this mod:
Sporty Sexy Sweat

Nope lol

my buddy even took the time to send me his mod list which he got working together, so there really isn't much of a reason for me to not play it again, except for System Shock 2.

Once I beat that i'll have time for another single player game.

Can we get an HD video showing off how these mods look in motion? looks amazing

Lol, it's hard without a capture card as most screen capture software drops your FPS a bit and god knows us hardcore ENB users need every single frame we can get. There's also the timescale method, slow down the game using the timescale command then record at high FPS and then speed it up in post process, but it wouldn't be true gameplay.

Hey, if it gives some idea of what it looks like in motion then I'd be cool with it...

Is there no "movie capture" like in unreal/source, that can render a pre-recorded scene at constant framerate and high HQ?

anyways, no worries either way, I was just curious

I'm repeating this information for peeps like me who want to try these mods out.

That enb link doesn't work. Anything else like it? I'm using the seasons one, which is nice but not photo realistic like those.

Honestly, if I didn't know any better, you could easily convince me those were stills from a CGI movie.

Does anyone know a way to make skyrim play nice at 120hz?

When I reinstalled and attempted to start a new game, the physics were broken in the opening sequence.

My googlefu hasn't turned up any fixes.

Gionight, what framerate are you getting with those mods? The screenshots look great! Any chance you have a list of the mods/settings you're using?
