Don't Use Your iPad As A Camera

Actually, it blocked his face pretty good. Maybe this is reason #1 why you SHOULD use an iPad as a camera. :D

You have to give apple credit on the durability of those things if nothing else. They take some impressive abuse and keep on working.

Yeah, not only did it protect his face but it seems to not have damaged it at all since he goes right back to using it again.

I always find it funny when people use an ipad to record something and it's essentially blocking the view but given it's just a giant screen displaying it, you can still watch the event on the ipad they're holding instead of watching it live, because the ipad is blocking it. :D

And why do people hold it like that? Wouldn’t it make more sense to flip it 90 degrees to get a better aspect ratio? I see that a lot.

Feel sorry for that softball team having to play on a football field and they don't even re-chalk it, looked confusing as all hell.

Looks like there was a protective net. How far would the ball have gone if he wasn't pressing his face right up to it to prop up his iPad?

You know, I find it amusing that so many people use their iPads as cameras. I recently went to the NY Auto Show and many were taking pics with them. I almost felt awkward using a point and shoot Olympus.

Fucking iPads. I never understand why people use them as camera's. Bulkier than a DSLR, worse image quality than a DSLR, and in some cases, equal in price or more expensive than a DSLR.

And that doesn't even consider regular point and shoot digital cameras...

DSLR = Camera

iPad = Camera, MP3 Player, Video Recorder etc.

I see your point about the pictures but comparing the two in price is kind of silly. One device has a specific function that ti's engineered to be good at. One happens to take decent enough pictures for your average folk and does a multitude of other things.

I thought it was because most people still use the older iPads with the 700k-pixel camera that takes photos like it was 1997 all over again.

Apple people: willing to pay top dollar for 10-15 year old technology.

But a phone can also take crappy-to-mediocre pictures and do all those other things...AND it's 1/8th the size of an ipad.

So, why ipad over phone? Just to look like 8x more of a douche for using an ipad at a freaking sporting event?

the other stupid thing I see more and more is people filming stuff on mobile phones in portrait...

Yep. And even the new ones still only have a 5MP camera. You can get a 12MP point and shoot that does 1080p video for around $100 these days.

What are the odds the guy has a phone that works atleast as good as his iPad in his backpocket?

This.

Are people seriously trying to compare a DSLR to an ipad?
give the old guy a break ffs.

DSLR/ILC=Great Camera, Good to Great Video Recorder
iPad=Shite camera, godawful video recorder, and WTH are you doing listening to music while taking a photo? You already look like a jacka** using it as a camera, you're going to double down with a pair of giant Beats cans plugged into it too?

This! I couldn't agree more.

Some smaller film companies use DSLRs as video camera for production stuff (not for cinematic as it's the wrong aspect). It's also going to be 13405670345061340560134506504569x the quality. :p

Because its an old man who probably would have a hard time holding, viewing, or even adjusting the controls on a tiny phone screen. iPad made it easier for him. Consider it an iPhone for the elderly.

If this had been a 20 something year old hipster douche, then your argument makes sense.

I'm not a fan of apple, but you got to hand it to them for build quality. Expensive build quality, but decent build quality nonetheless.

I kind of like using the iPad as a camera. What other camera has live-view on a large, high-quality 3 megapixel screen? That said, I don't use it much as a camera, and I don't have a cell phone as an alternative.

The lens on tablets and phones are junk, even when compared to most point & shoot cameras.
Comparing an iPad camera to a DSLR is like comparing a Ferrari to a moped. They are not even in the same category. Even a basic $100 point & shoot will take better pictures and video, especially if you need to zoom in.

People using their phones for pictures/video are bad enough, but I find the people using tablets (especially iPads) to be the worse. Several times I've had people with iPads push their way in front of me/others at the last minute and then hold up their iPad right in front of everyone, blocking the view and getting in the way other other's cameras & video recorders.
Just another reason to hate the iBots and their arrogant/clueless attitudes.
