Hi all,

I've recently bought a second 2312 and it's an A00 rev when my first was an A05 rev, and color wise the A00 looked awful. Now, I just got done letting Dispcalgui calibrate it. Here's my result.

Most everything looks ALRIGHT but not that special. Why are my blacks and grays so off? My calibration settings were 6500k, 150 cd/m2 white point, gamma 2.2 and quality high using a Spyder 4 express...but clearly something is off. Can anyone point out where I might have erred?

Also, the gray of this post now looks somewhat off - it's certainly NOT a gray...looks a little green I think?

Is the spyder 4 express just bad?

it's possible that there could be something wrong with your spyder. if it's new, you can try exchanging it for another unit.

calibrated sub-400 contrast is pretty bad for any desktop monitor made within the last decade. was 'interactive display adjustment' checked in dispcalgui? if you leave it unchecked, argyllcms will calibrate the monitor to the specified white level without giving you a chance to adjust the monitor brightness (backlight) which will wreck contrast if the brightness is set too high.

and set the monitor to standard or custom color mode and the contrast to 75 before you calibrate.

there's also the possibility that there's something wrong with the monitor.

I think the problem here is the fact that the white levels are so off between the two monitors. Just hitting 5500k as someone else suggested on the new monitor is a royal pain. Back off the blue, green shoots WAY up. Back off green, blue shoots WAY up and repeat.

I'm thinking of just returning the A00 rev 2312 and finding some other monitor worth my money - because the A00 rev certainly doesn't seem to be worth the effort.
