I am just wondering if anyone on [H] would even consider Facebook Home.

Public poll?

Not that I'd like to see some tar and feathering... :)

I'm trying it out, but I'm not giving it a chance to stay installed.

YES YES YES YES YES

I tried FB back 2010. Five wasted days as I was inundated with messages from dozens of former high school and college classmates all wanting to be my best friend. The horror... the horror...

Suffice it to say you won't Facebook Home anywhere near any digital device I'll ever own

Ill be giving it a go, probably uninstall very quickly...

And not only will Facebook try to take over your phone, but they want to put ads and sponsored posts on the home screen. No. Hell no. Fuck no. No. No.

I hate facebook, I am a user, but I hate it. The phone thing is just an awful awful idea IMO.

I only use the Face Book webpage on my phone. Fuck the app that wants to suck your soul away. I am not a huge FB guy anyways, I do check it daily, for family / friends updates, and bullshit, that's it.

But a whole phone OS built around Face Book, LOL are you kidding me

Hell no. Until I prove who I am with photo ID I can't even log on to my acct. Been like that near a week now.

The only good thing about this phone is that when you remove Home, it's running an AOSP base. I might just pick one up for my girlfriend, it's just what she's looking for, once facebook is scrapped.

I thought HTC First wasn't pure AOSP based. I thought they built in certain parts of Home in order to improve the integration meaning you can't remove it. It's not as invasive as say Sense or TouchWiz but it's still there I thought.

Man, the results of this poll so far is got some pretty good stuff. As some of you may know, I like to analysis statistics, something Medion totally sucks at.

I tend to believe that [H] is the enthusiasts crowd and that the people here is probably a pretty accurate representation of the enthusiasts crowd as a whole. In a poll, where the number of "yes" choices doubles that of "no", and less than 9% of the voters (6 out of 67) is even going to install it if available of their phones. And of those that voted yes, 100% of them is just curious about it and will uninstall.

On top of that, just under 30% (20/67) of the voters here also do not use Facebook at all. Another question that I would like to add now whether they are even on LinkedIn. So if we ignored the results from those who doesn't use Facebook, only nearly 13% of Facebook users on [H] is willing to try it.

With this result, I can say that Facebook Home is not popular with enthusiasts, and probably understated.

The apparent lack of popularity could tells me 5 big things. And I will list them below. It most likely is a combination of reasons. For myself, all 5.

1. Enthusiasts tend to know more about things. We don't like how Facebook makes money off of us. (Even though Google and Apple aren't much better... yes, we are also hypocrites.)

2. Enthusiasts doesn't care (that much) about friends or keeping in touch with acquaintances.

3. Being or not being an enthusiast matters not. Too much Facebook is just too much.

4. The launcher and widgets you are currently using already handle all that you need for social networking. And using Facebook Home probably will make it worse for other social media such as Twitter.

5. The UI is simply unimpressive. Why try it?

So those of my 5 impressions. Like I said, I have all 5 checked. The second is something I would like to correct, but my gf takes to much of my time already.

Of course not. I only log in to Facebook so that my friends don't think I'm dead or something. I hate Facebook and who knows, maybe I even delete my account some day.

Facebook Home is software for your phone designed to put your friends above everything else.

Here you go: https://www.facebook.com/home

I guess you are not a Facebook user.

It has only partial use for your friends, its main priority is to update your profile automatically with anything you do throughout the day with little interaction. It has little benefit over the app other then letting you be a bit more lazy about bragging about your daily life.
