Games that could be defined as 'metal'?

Heyhey.

I'm looking for some gritty and dark games that could be defined as metal or something that reminds you of it.
It doesn't necessarily need to have a death or heavy metal soundtrack.


Darksiders 1 & 2
The Darkness 1 & 2
Painkiller games.

The new DmC seems to have a lot of metal musically...I guess content-wise as well? Except the new Dante is kind of an emo douche.

Maybe Dark Souls?

I thought I heard something about a skin for an old Dante? Might have been some pre-order exclusive though.
Edit: I think it was just an unlockable for white hairstyle.

I'll update the list.

I liked the new Dante so didn't bother me. Good game.

As far as metal games...how about Twisted Metal series?
 
Descent II had a fantastically "industrial metal" soundtrack. I'd say all the Descent games are great examples.

And FWIW, I'm actually listening to the Descent soundtrack right now :)

Oh and another one, Messiah. The whole soundtrack was Fear Factory.
 
Had to return to add…Full Throttle and GTA4: The Lost and the Damned
 
How could you forget duke nukem 3d? Megadeth did the main theme!

Also doom/quake. I think RTCW also fits.

I guess these were too obvious

Wolfenstein
Dishonored (metal music would go well with the gameplay)
Half-Life series (has metal & rock riffs during gameplay)

I'll keep brainstorming... :)
 
Thief:TDP and Thief:TMA are more metal than any of those listed.

Or play as the Hive Tyrant in Retribution. There were times when I'd play Tyrant and I thought Satan was trying to communicate to me through my speakers.:eek: Brutal!
 
Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 9.

Also at times a i thought unreal tournament had certain grittiness/metal look. I really loved unreal tournament 2004 Inferno map looks.
