im going to sound like an EA troll for saying this but im not.
one reason they could of wanted to enforce bans for correcting the blue tint is that the injector or what ever it was could of potentially altered the color in such a way that it makes players stand out much more than intended giving those players an advantage much in the same way and altering textures to make someone pink while not as effective as the straight up texture replacer it was a potential exploit/hack if used by someone less than honest.
ive dealt with so many hackers and glitches and texture replacing players in BF1942/BFV/BF2 that i honestly dont mind them preventing injectors on those basis.
but i DO NOT like them not having an option to remove the blue tint or toggle the supernova sun or tone it down with a slider to personal preference.
Cheating is understandably a legitimate concern, however there was a dialogue between DICE and the BF community about making the color grading an optional toggle in the config menu. At one point it looked like DICE was seriously considering it but ultimately backtracked because their artistic integrity demanded no compromises. I mean seriously, why not let us fucking play the game how we like unless you have an inflated ego that can't handle knowing that some people don't agree with your shitty artistic taste.
I guess this is what BF2 would look like if it was released today:
