REI has a 20% one item coupon (MEM2013) for in-store or online use, but you must be a member ($20 lifetime). The coupon expires 4/7/13.

Just use code MEM2013 at checkout. Exclusions.

For example:

Best price I've seen for quite some time on the GPH3 B. With my dividend from last year I picked one up for $280 out the door.

If I'm not a member, can I just simply register?

Never bought from REI yet but I need a GoPro, been waiting on Amazon.

Nvm: memberships $20. damn lol

Does anyone have the GoPro 3 Black? I see bad reviews on Amazon about battery life. Can someone who owns one confirm?

REI's a co-op. IIRC, a lifetime membership costs $20 & provides savings on any regular-price item. Also makes it easier to return things, because they hold account history.

For the $20 lifetime fee, you also get roughly 10% back on your purchases every year, and you also have a lifetime return policy on anything you buy. If you bought your membership then purchased this GoPro deal, you'd still be paying $10 less than most of the best sale prices I've seen on GoPro H3 B in the past....just food for thought

I'm pretty sure that applies for non-members as well. It definitely did in the past. Of course, they need to keep track of their receipts...

FWIW there are reports of the Hero3 buggin out. I personally have a Hero 2 and I've been wanting a Hero 3 but I'm not sure what to make of all these complaints.

Hmm, interesting. I'm really tempted by this (esp. cause I have a some REI rebates to spend) but do you have any more information on what the bugs are?

I can usually get 25% off amazon's price on the gopro silver edition (not black) PM me if you want more details

Just goggle for "gopro hero black problems". There's been reported cases of WiFi not working, freezing while recording, SD cards not being recognized and more. I checked a few of the GoPro forums and it looks like it's still an ongoing issue for some people.

Never heard of any problems. I wanted one with a helmet mount for when I go mountain biking but I dont really go anywhere scenic for it to be worth it to me.

Just for my own .02, this will be my 3rd GPH3 B, and I've not experienced the freezing problem some are describing. I suspect the people having trouble are either not properly formatting their SD card, have a partial firmware update file on the SD card, or some other memory card related issue..

What about battery issues?

What about battery issues?

Well, the battery life is not stellar, but I found that the Wasabi battery packs from Amazon are a great solution if you need extended recording capability. I only record about 15 minutes at a time for my use, so it hasn't been an issue...

I have a black edition ( i got for sub 300 NIB w/warranty) and haven't had a single issue. Yes the battery (recorded 1080/60 most of the time, battery seems like it will last about an hour at that res) is not the best but i haven't had single software issue.

Interesting.

Hmm I might pick it up then. $20 for membership, $320 for GP3. $340 total, not bad.

Is there a site where I can read the difference between GP2 and GP3 and GP3 silver vs black?
