Intel Declares Quarterly Cash Dividend

Has anyone else noticed that Intel's press releases contain far less in the way of made up techno-jargon and marketing buzz than AMD?

Anyway, about the dividend, "Yoink!"

Since I do not have stock in intel or anyone else for that matter, *shrugs*.

Don't feel bad about it. Since four out of five stocks are held by the top 10% in this country, that's not a surprise. The stock market is theirs, not ours.

They're the players, we're the spectators.

And what prevents you from buying the same stocks as the 10%? Nothing. You can reap the same reward and take the same risks. What you're really saying is that you're lazy like the other 90% of Americans, don't want to take the time to learn about investing, don't want to save money to invest, and want the government to take care of you when you retire using money they don't have.

I realize that you were not speaking to me, but, I will comment anyways: No, I do not want the government to take care of me and they do not. However, I also am not interested in the stock market.

Intel is making money, good for them. Hoping AMD does as well.

Building a portfolio of stocks and investments isn't a terrible idea, but there are managed retirement funds for the masses that work better for the average person who doesn't want to be bothered with the nuances of personal monetary empire building. Aside from surrendering a portion of the potential value to the fund manager organization or brokerage, they're the best way for those unfamiliar with investing to plan for their old age. Then again, by the time most people begin retirement planning they've already missed the boat on the majority of the potential investment return because they've squandered away years of compound interest on other expenses that yield a net loss or an insubstantial return like a home mortgage.

I read in a thread about Apple that companies who pay out dividends do not innovate.

Cry some more?

Thanks. These know-it-all idiots running around mouthing off with their "lazy Americans" bullshit just piss me off. Same with the idiot that posted right after you.

Facts and statistics frighten and confuse them.

My portfolio would frighten and confuse you.

At least I don't resort to name calling and childish banter when being called out.

I couldn't give a shit about your awesome portfolio. I got called out about what exactly? Someone says that they don't have any stocks so the news here doesn't matter to them. I come in and state a statistic to them and tell them that they aren't alone. The first idiot comes in and automatically assumes that I'm a lazy bum ("like 90% of Americans"!) who doesn't own stocks and then you cruise in and imply that I'm crying in my response to their blather when I am doing nothing more than stating facts.

Do you even understand what you are reading? Fucking idiot.

Man, calm down before you get banned. I disagreed with you because your statement is ridiculous. Plus, it's actually closer to the top 20% own 90%, but what would I know? I'm just a "fucking idiot" with 3 master's degrees. I'll go back and play with my pile of money while you whine about it .

Last time I checked, "They're the players, we're the spectators" is not a statistic like you're espousing I know nothing about.

I quoted older data (2010) but more recent data (that I lost the link to) shows that 90.5% of stocks are held by the top 10% with the top 5% holding about 67% of all stocks. The spectators/players line is because nothing you or I do will affect or change the markets, that's reserved for the people with the big bucks. We're just along for the ride. No, 'players & spectators' is not a statistic, it's reality.

I have a PHD in Bullshit Detection, now scoot along Richie Rich and go play in your piles of 'money'.

Even if the slate were reset to 0 for everyone, we would be back to those same statistics in under a year. That's just the way money works.
