"Big Dongle" Jokes Get Everyone Fired

She should be fired for abusing her role as a "hurt" co-worker. I doubt she was at all hurt, shes merely showing off her power as a female that can cry to her mommy and get what she wants.

The boss that ordered the firing should be fined for not doing any corrective actions first prior to firing. That is just assinine to be able to fire someone for something you can use a preventive measure later on.
 
The more I read about her, the more obvious it is that this is just another hypocritical black woman race and gender baiting at every opportunity to get traffic to her blog.

Race and gender is the new "Red Scare" of our generation, and the only way to fix it is to stop tolerating this fear mongering and corporate overreaction (itself motivated by fear of lawsuits, particularly from minority women ready to shamelessly play their cards for personal gain).

Sad that I now know of two hard working coworkers at different businesses fired over a single harmless overheard comment. What is really worse, the vast majority living in fear over a single misunderstood overheard comment between friends at the workplace during their career, or someone being asked to develop a thicker skin like a normal well adjusted individual and not eaves drop and abuse the system to hurt others while thinking themselves heroes to a cause.
 
it is always important to note that people are different and some people are very emotional. what seems logical to you can set someone else off. in the case a lot of "feminism" types, they were actually assaulted / abused / had bad parents, and that is why they have a chip on their shoulder. there is nothing to do about it but go easy on them when you are around them. people don't change, and you can't fix people. just have to deal with it.

as far as human rights go, they apply equally to everyone and anyone who doesn't agree is an asshole, whether they are anti-gender or anti-color or anti-company or whatever. oops, did I just say companies are people? (yes)

Actually, there is something you can do about it. You can say "go suck an egg".

Its really that simple. When people overreact, I don't need their life story to just tell them to shut up and stop overreacting. You certainly don't fix these nutcases by weaponizing them against average Joes the way liberals have done.

Yes, the companies handled it badly.

You are supposed to call them into the office, explain the situation.

Have them write a note, indicating they are sorry they shamed the company.

Then bury the body in the desert.

After a couple days, call the PD and report them missing.

I don't think they caved to the hacker so much as they caved to her unprofessionalism in posting pictures of the people making the comments. I mean, really, that's so fucking stupid. Complaining "these dudes behind me are being dicks" is one thing, posting their pictures and all on the interwebs is just stupid and unprofessional.

Should the guys have been making the comments they were making? Maybe not, though just because they were making "sexual" comments doesn't mean they were "sexist" and worthy of being fired for it, though perhaps they were out of place. However, publicly shaming them for it and getting them fired for it is NOT the way to earn respect for your beliefs.

I kept "making work" for him, until one day he went to clean the bathroom and mixed bleach and ammonia to clean the floor. While effective for cleaning and suicide, not something I can live with.

He nearly killed himself today. I don't need that on my conscious, so I guess I need to do what has to be done. He has a wife and a kid. I feel terrible."

He did not show up the next day, or ever again. He didn't even get his last check, we had to mail it, he didn't answer calls.

Apparently he read what I wrote.

A year later I ran into him at the hardware store. We looked at each other, said "hey" and both stared at the ground and left quickly.

There is a totalitarian strain to this that really disturbs me. This "evangelist" tried and convicted these guys of a gender-crime, of an ideological sin, and had no qualms using technology to publicly shame and punish them. People complaining about about it in this thread are then guilty of racism and misogyny.

She does go a bit overboard at times, but for the most part I agree with her comments. Adria didn't want to change things for the better, she wanted a soapbox to preach from for her own ego rather than the good of anything else and it seems like it's not the first time she's done that, this time it backfired and she lost her job. If she has a track record of going public with her problems instead of first addressing them in house and/or with the people that she has a problem with, I'd fire her too.

The comments about "ugliest 24 hours on the internet" and "Adria was being attacked with the vile words people use only when attacking women" are where I think she was going a bit overboard. For the former she is just using hyperbole and for the latter she didn't need to single out "when attacking women". There's insults which are reserved for men, there's insults reserved for blacks, there's insults reserved for asians, there's insults reserved for middle easterns, there's insults reserved for jews, etc etc. People can be "vile" regardless of who they're insulting, to single out women only serves to further divide people.

This sort of thing makes women look weak. We are constantly told that women are as tough as men, and can handle anything a man can, yet there is a plethora of laws and rules to protect these delicate creatures. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

She had no business eavesdropping on their private conversation, taking it out of context, taking a photo and then publicly shaming them for her oversensitive PC feelings. If anything, the company that fired them should be sued for wrongful termination. I hope she doesn't get hired by anyone else and is forced to live on welfare.

Your wish has been granted. One, they fired her because she did this public shaming crap rather than talk to these people like an actual human being. Two, She dragged her company into the mess claiming that her company had her back.

Equality means exactly that - if you want to be treated equally, paid equally, and seen as an equal... you'd better be able to perform or act in an equal manner.

Why would any woman expect to be treated equally when she goes out of her way to humiliate and damage others lives. Add to that she was evesdropping for christ's sake. There we go. But don't let people here hear you say that. Anytime there's any post about women in technology, you always get the comments following neatly after each other: "She should go back to the kitchen where she belongs!" And then "I'm not mysogenistic!!!"

Of course, when they throw racist bullshit into the mix too, it's even worse. I just find it hilarious that people can't find a way to critisize a black woman without resorting to mysogeny or racism. There's a difference between saying "She's making everyone look bad, especially when women have a hard enough time being taken seriously in that industry and she overreacts to a stupid joke." and saying "All women do this and that's why they should be hated!!!!"

So what, are you guys mad that these women are getting all the dongles, then? Because with some of these comments, I can't imagine some of you being all that excited about women in general.

For all that claim that she is being attacked in a racist way in this thread i ask to point out the racist statement.

The picture clearly shows how she grabbed at straws and tried to bend a comment until it had a racist meaning, when someone politely told her that they couldn't agree with the way she publicly lynched those two guys, she jumped to the point of black people suffered lynches (other colors of people did too, but shh not her point), and thus it was offensive because she was black and somehow i guess that makes her incapable of lynching others? I dunno, there is no real point there, specially as the commenter explained that he used the proper definition of lynching but she handwaved it away.
