Tomb Raider reboot will make PC gamers "very, very happy"

Is there a difference from the Artbook (in PDF) you get with the DDE? I know we got a nerfed sound track, the released one has 20 tracks and the one the DDE got is only 10 tracks (they only changed it in the description after release).

Anyone beat the game with mainly using the bow and not dying once? There is a challenge for those who seek it.

I beat the game with the bow without dying. The bow was the most OP weapon ever if you upgrade it early on. Get the napalm upgrade as soon as you can it turns the bow into a remote flamethrower.

Finished! 29 hours and 97%. Just as in the credits, these guys really did try their best to make the best possible game. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer.

without dying on hard the whole time? I have a hard time believing you, but if you did then good on you. Was it a 2nd or 3rd playthrough? Bow is real nice at the beginning, but towards the end when they throw guys at you fast with machine guns, melee and naids the bow just can't keep up easily unless you score a headshot each time nearly without missing.

29 hours, you sure did take your time with this game. Did you spend a lot of time going back for stuff, or were you just messing around? Either way, I think that's better than rushing through and beating in 7 or 8 hours.

2nd playthru, took much less time and was much easier as I knew where everything was and all the event triggers. The trick to staying alive is scramble cover to cover and time your strikes with the bow, you'll notice you start winning battles without even getting hit. Make the melee guys chase you if you cant bow them and if you have I think the tier 2 melee combos use them it makes tight situations e-z p-z, plus melee is super fun. The guns are a waste if you ask me, you need to upgrade them substantially to get a decent return, the only decent gun is the pistol because you can headshot with it pretty easily.

Now back to playing Darksouls until I get RE6.

I'm currently at the beach with 75%, you rushed through. This has to be said, the collectible stuff, like documents and even some of the relics are a must to fill in the holes in the story. In the main game there is sort of a brush over about what is going on, but if you really wanna know why things went south and fast for each of the groups stuck on the island, you need to get the documents and then play them through in order and its a good story.

this game fucking rocks. Most fun I've had in a long while. I love the puzzles and the exploration. I've died quite a bit so far but playing on hard and using a controller. Bow and climbing axe are my favorite weapons but haven't really got much yet. Just got to the point where I got the rope arrows.

I did go back and try to clean out most areas. And now that I recall, I did leave it alt-tab'ed in the background while surfing or taking care of other business. I definitely didn't want to end it quick.

75% and completed the game. i didn't rush through, but didnt take my time either.

looking forward to the next one!

So...I have the game, but what is MP like anyway? I haven't even tried it (haven't even played the game much yet, actually...been busy with other stuff).

Just beat it last night with 87% completion. Great game overall, but hopefully the next one has some real TOMBS. The little one room puzzle tombs in this game where a let down IMO.

not a chance...gaming world doesn't work like that unless you're named Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed...2015 seems more likely

Not necessarily. They have the groundwork laid (engine, AI, movement mechanics, characters, etc) so a direct sequel would take far less time. Or they might farm out a direct sequel to a different developer while the core original team works on a "true" sequel, sort of like Assassin's Creed 2 vs. Brotherhood/Revelations, Bioshock vs. Bioshock 2, etc.

It still usually takes more than a year to make a game. Even Call of Duty takes 2 years a piece. They just have two different teams alternating to deliver a game each year. So even if they farm out the sequel it will take a couple of years for the other developer to make the game.

Right... and TR released early 2013, so a late 2014 release is almost two years.

I'm still milking this puppy. But I only have opportunity to play a couple of times a week. I guess I am about half way through, maybe less. Have my shotgun and just got my fire arrows. I have trouble killing the guys carrying the big Roman shield. There is no way of getting behind them and finishing them off like in Dark Souls. I probably just don't have the combat figured out.

Just read the TR [H] review and it makes me wish I had picked PC instead of PS3 to play this on, lol. It's not so much the graphics and performance as much as this DS controller. It's great for Dark Souls but TR begs for the keyboard and mouse when it comes to acing waves of enemies.

Talking about a sequel, I like this game and the scripted action. But I think it will be mostly done after the first play through. I'm sure I will replay it, I replay all the great games, but I would like to see the next game done differently with less of the predetermined gameplay. I have yet to explore a real large eerie tomb. The sequel needs some dungeon size tombs.

The camera and controls are so good. How many 3rd person single player action games have I played where I had to work with the camera and struggle with sloppy controls! TR has none of this, it plays and controls like you imagine it should. Whoever designed the camera and controls deserves a pat on the back and an atta boy!

I found this in the Edge interview "We have an amazing camera artist in Remi Lacoste; he’s from Ubisoft and has done some amazing work for us, working with the programmers to develop a camera system that’s truly top notch as far as industry standards are concerned." So there ye be, it was Remi! Nothing is by accident or chance when it comes to excellence in game design.

You have to wait for them to attack you, and then dodge (shift) out of the way. They will then be exposed for a short time and you can unload on them. You may also be able to use the special dodge attacks, if you have unlocked them.

I'm on my second playthrough, this time on hard. Mostly because I just upgraded from my old GTX 460, and I wanted to see how much better it looked. I thought it looked great on Normal settings actually, but on Ultimate it's just gorgeous.

I too wish it wasn't so scripted, but it is very well done regardless. I'm not so much into finding every single artifact or GPS, but I'm sure there are a few tombs I missed the first time.

With plans only for multiplayer DLCs, do they really think multiplayer is the future for this franchise? I really hope the sequel doesn't become a 5 minute SP campaign with the main development efforts on multiplayer maps for death match, free for all, etc...

That's extremely disappointing.

Well i'm pretty happy so far:) with the exception of those QuickTime events:mad:

After about the first hour that eases out to something very reasonable. I hate QTEs but I got along ok with them in this game. Everything else makes it more than worth it.

It's just jarring when they suddenly take away control for a QTE. Overall great game. Though, it did get a bit repetitive.

I wish developers would let us control the camera during cutscenes. Then they could get rid of QTEs and still give the player something to do. While they're add it, they should add pause/rewind/forward controls too.

You just want more control over boob and butt shots.

lol, that could be nice. I was actually thinking about the first Assassin's Creed. There were sort of QTEs during cutscenes where if you hit the button it would give you a different camera angle. It wasn't necessary at all but was pretty nice.

Who is playing the multiplayer? It seems that future DLC plans only pertain to the multiplayer. So if you want extra single player content you're SOL.

I'm bitterly disappointed in this news. There's plenty of room here for some quality single player DLC concepts and situations.

This series was never about multiplayer. As far as I'm concerned the devs did everything right with this game up to this decision right here. I don't get it.
