I have a device that has a single mPCIe slot and I need to have both WiFi and GPS capabilities. eBay does NOT understand that "WiFi" is the 802.11 standard and not another word for "cellular" (I literally just spent several hours going through listings for cards like "3G HSPA EDGE WWAN WLAN WiFi" that did NOT support WiFi)

I realize this is a semi-rare card and not going to be cheap, but I screwed up and ordered the wrong model of a device and cant get a refund (completely my fault, but now I need to fix my mistake)

Can anyone suggest some cards that *do* support both WiFi (even just 802.11b is fine) and some form of cellular/GPS? (honestly, I don't care if it only supports EDGE/1xRTT, it's never going to be used for data since I can tether my cell phone)

Compatibility is not going to be a major issue since the device is running Windows 7

Does it have Bluetooth? You could just use a BT GPS device. They're usually very small and cheap and can easily be attached to the chassis of the device or a backpack/briefcase/pocket.

Also if you ordered a model of device that didn't include a 3G radio, be sure it still includes a proper antenna for it in the case. Your 3G card won't have much signal strength unless there's a good antenna for it already in the hardware chassis.

Check out this card:

I feel your pain. I was looking for a a set of USB adapters that would wirelessly connect a camera to a PC (without joining an 802.11x network) point-to-point style. The camera obviously didn't have 802.11x support, I really just needed a long usb cable...without the cable part in between. Well, good luck finding such a device on ebay when searching for "wireless USB adapter" and similar.

Do you mean GPRS? or GSM? I dont even think they make too many mPCIe gps devices...

If you dont mind going wired, there is a technology that lets you plug a set of adapters onto a LAN cable upto I think 1000 feet and use it as a super-long USB. I have a set of these but they only support USB 1.1 transfer speeds

I think I found a solution, not sure yet, but in this case it doesnt matter, basically I was/am jsut looking for a card that supports some form of cellular for A-GPS and also supports WiFi on the same card.

For a laptop, get a card with wifi and BT, then get a GPS receiver that connects via BT..
