Monoprice to sell re-branded FSM-270YG 2560x1440 IPS for $390

What exactly is going on with the monitor? Can you post some pics of the issue?
For a section of the bottom of the panel (from about 20%-50% of the way from the left edge going right), 1-2 rows of pixels are covered by the bezel. It would've been hard to spot, except that with the Win 7 taskbar, you get that little "box" effect around programs that are open. The bottom part of that white "box" isn't visible for icons located on that section of the panel: example

To verify, I created a 2560x1440 image with a 2px-wide red stripe around the edges. Here's what happens at the bottom left of the monitor.

I assume this may be because the bottom bezel is slightly warped: like so

If I pull down hard on the bezel and force it to give a little, I can see the missing pixels.

I'm sure there's a way to fix this with some effort, but why risk damaging this unit if they're willing to take it back for free? (Now watch the replacement have a bunch of bad pixels, heh).

As I'm no calibration expert, I'd like to get others' opinions. Is anyone else getting relatively weak contrast and overly green color?

thanks, brett, I'm going to check that out when I get home

tigerbait, remove the bolt, put the neck down into the base, and then screw that bolt through the base into the neck

thanks, I couldn't get the neck seated far enough in the base for the screw to catch. I finally got it in there.

This thing is sweet. Sitting next to my HP L2335 1920x1200 S-IPS, the size and resolution is a huge difference.

So the MP is on par with a Apple Cinema 27"?! I always thought the apple cinema screens looked amazing, life like..BTW how would the these screens compare to my own a 23 Dell U2311H Flat panel? Is it only a higher Rez or would it look totally diff/better?

compared to my 23" 1920x1200 apple cinema HD display it looks amazing. two people have commented that it makes the cinema display look "tiny" in comparison (I don't necessarily agree with that but it is noticeably better)

Received the monitor yesterday, simply put, its AMAZING, can't believe $330 got me this. Came with 0 dead pixels. I can only overclock it to 66 Hz, not sure if anyone knows manual timings that may squeeze an extra 9 hz, it would be nice to run at 75hz. I've always heard how good IPS screens looks and only got a taste of it when I got my Nexus 4 a couple months ago. Now comparing it to my 1920x1200 TN its a no brainier which one looks better. The colors look so crisp and I am generally not one to nitpick over such things.

I too have a warped bezel but its the opposite, the middle goes in, instead of out, it does not cover any pixels though. The bottom right side of the panel itself is not touching or connected to the bezel but it doesn't really look bad or change any way anything looks.
My other complaint is the connections are on the right side and not on the bottom, my PC setup is all on the left side and it was a pretty tight squeeze for the cables.

All in all I am very pleased!

This is without any calibration applied (via a hardware calibrator)? I don't have the monitor, but since there's no OSD I'm assuming about the only thing you can change via front panel buttons is the brightness and then have to let the hardware calibrator make all the changes (either Matrix or LUT) calibration.

No, just doing color/brightness/contrast adjustments in windows calibrator. Thinking of getting a Spyder 4 to get more serious.

I can't tell if I have that and pixel issue but if I do I don't want to risk trading a perfect pixel in and getting a bad one

Overall, the monitor is excellent. No dead pixels or backlight issues I can see.

My one major complaint is that the stem part of the stand isn't removable, at least not without dremeling it off or opening the case, both of which would void the warranty. The product description doesn't make this clear. This is a bit of an issue since I have a low-profile wall mount. I can't tilt the display down at all. After the 1-year warranty is up, I'll cut it off. But for now it's a bit annoying. I think one of the Korean monitors has the same stand, maybe the same entire case, so it is probably possible to remove it by doing some surgery. I'm just not willing to sacrifice my warranty just yet.

But this is a minor issue. At the price Monoprice is selling this screen, it's an unbelievable deal. Get one.

BIOS displays fine, and I have no scaling issues.

Will post some pics later this evening.

Great info. Thanks guys!
I've been seriously considering this as an alternative to picking up the Dell U2711.
The anti-glare coating on the Dell is a huge boon to me, so I'll probably stay the road...

I want to run one of these, and add a small monitor to each side(like I see people doing with their 30in with 2x20in Dells). Any idea if there are monitors out there that match size and resolution? I was looking at some 19in, but they seem to be too tall when turned.

19" an older model, Acer? I think with 1440x900 resolution would fit, but they're hard to get.

I'm thinking of getting the 27" IPS LED CrystalPro Monitor WQHD 2560x1440 when it comes back in stock. What are some cons of this monitor? I will used it mainly for playing games, photoshop and surfing the web. I heard that it's not the best monitor for reading web pages, why is that?

someone was using the wrong OS font settings i bet

If you are that interested, i'd give this thread a good read instead of waiting for a couple of random opinions, it's your money ;)

Just a couple questions about this monitor.

It says IPS, but is it a decent S-IPS or better, or the cheap e-IPS?
Is it a wide-gamut?
Is it glossy, semi-glossy or matte with sparkly AG?
There's no OSD, so I'm wondering what we can still change with just the buttons. Backlight, contrast, or color temps?

Any opinions on this? Thinking of replacing my 28" I-INC 1920x1200 screen with it. Gaming mostly.

It's back ordered for five more days. Anyone plan on getting it when it comes back in stock?

Has anyone who has the monitor ever compared the monoprice one to the auria that microcenter is selling? wondering which one is better overall

microcenter one has more inputs, could mean more lag and it looks like you can replace the stand

The monoprice one you can't replace the stand only has one input. Funny because monoprice is known for selling good reliable cheap stands.

6 pages and like no questions answered.

What's the difference this vs the overlord temptest minus the refresh rate?

Can it be used with the overlord pcb to achieve 100+ hz?
