So so far, I'm maybe 30%...this game is kind of meh. I'm a big fan of the classic tomb raider play style..which I get this isn't...but the entire thing is just on rails and I feel like it's more of an interactive movie than a game. I don't know, maybe it will get better, I just wish it were at least a little bit challenging somehow.

This game is really good. But I do agree it is not in the same spirit of the original. I remember TR on the PS1 with some amazing levels, man that was good times, but times I guess have changed. The Soundtrack of the original is also epic. So much atmosphere. Although the original obviously hasn't aged well, being made in 1996, it is still one of my faves. St Francis' Folly may be one of the best designed, complex levels of all-time. Can you deny this soundtrack?

Ok so i just sold all my tf2 ifms on steam market place and now i have 79 dollars steam credit, and am debating if i should get TR. I need your Guys opinion, i never had much interest in the older TR's i just couldn't get into them. but this seems to be getting good reviews. my question is, do you have to be a fan of the franchise to enjoy this game, or is it good all round.

that scene is a direct homage (ripoff) from the movie 'The Descent'...if anyone hasn't seen that movie I highly recommend it
The previous games I was lukewarm on for more reasons than one. I adore this game.

The controls blew horrific dong on the previous games. This game is just plain GOOD.
I really don't understand what the average "gamer" wants nowadays. I'd hate to try to cater to him/her. I'd end up wanting to murder them.
One of my all time horror favorites. I bought TR a couple days ago but didn't play yet, kinda want to wait for more patches and new driver to enjoy it at max settings without crashing.
Is the hard mode really not challenging at all? I saw a few players on Eidos forums asking CD to add a higher difficulty mode.

Hard is not even normal, Hard to me is easy on that game. I died like 10 times the whole game and half of those was me jumping of cliffs.
Then I jumped to Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army which normal is actually pretty hard and got my ass handed to me.
one thing that did really bug me is when she was under canopy and you were dodging trees left and right. it was a round canopy which you cant control. and i don't think those old rigs had a reserve canopy inside the container. the had a separate bag.
you mean parachute bob & weave through the trees?
because videogame.
finished the single player in about 8 hours. It was probably the easiest single player campaign I've played in recent memory, the fights are way too easy once you get a decently upgraded bow. the napalm shots are way OP and you can easily take down waves of enemies from cover without getting hurt and never have to worry about ammo because 1 dead bad guy who took 1 headshot arrow will drop 10 arrows, weird, yep. Don't expect much, or any exploration or changes in scenery either, all levels look pretty much identical, all NPC look like clones.

there is 1 boss in the game and you can beat him in less than 3 minutes
I enjoyed the game. it only took me 8 hours to beat, but i only completed 64% of the game. but ya it was an interactive story on rails. played on hard and the only time i died was when i was screwing around or charging 10 guys in the open.
I feel like part of the fun of a game like this is exploring the areas and figuring out how to reach all the collectibles and whatnot. Sure, you could blow through the whole game in a few hours, but you're missing out. The documents you collect actually shed a good amount of extra light on the game's story. I stopped myself before heading up the river for (what I assume is) the last part of the game. I've been having a good time going back to all the areas and completing them.

ya, for me all that find 20 wolf turds or feed 15 sea gulls incredibly boring. i know some people are into it, but it makes me want to beat my head against a wall.

You literally never have to do any of that...the point of finding optional things, in this game at least, is to learn more about the game world as a whole.
Lets not even go into the achievements. Kill 20 crabs gets you an achievement.
