why the hell did Intel decide to put the cpu socket so close to the bottom

try to install my Scythe "Big Shuriken 2" CPU Cooler and its blocking the pci slot WTF INTEL

anyone have a stock intel 1155 heat sink they dont need -.-

brought a xeon 1260l OEM need heat sink

the position of CPU socket on Intel board is not different from most ( if not all) 1155 mini-itx boards on the market. Try AXP-140RT
 
For stuff like this, cooler manufacturers should post paper cutout templates so you can cut and paste a paper model to test on the motherboard. This is arguably the largest problem for mITX systems: compatible AND decent cooling.
 
If you really are wanting an OEM 1155 we've all got at least one hidding somewhere. Make a WTB thread there and watch the PMs roll in.

Otherwise, yes, you're dealing with an oddity that exists on most any mini ITX mobo, with the CPU socket crammed right next the PCI slot. Weird... Only a handful have the socket pushed up the other direction.
