what do you guys think?

Sorry for the shit quality. My main camera took a dump and haven't replaced it yet, so here is an awesome shot from my iPhone...

Just finished this a few weeks ago. Spent way too long (and spent too much money) on fan choice and noise/airflow tuning.

Aren't those corsair fans sick? Just picked up some of them and will be ordering more.

Out of the ones I've tested (Antec, Enermax, SilenX), they definitely are the best. Currently, I'm using 1 SP-PE on my heatsink (switched from the Kuhler 620), 1 AF-QE on the back, 2 AF-QEs on top (with 5 volt step-downs) and 2 SP-PEs blowing on the the board/graphics card.

All of the fans, except the top ones, are ran off of the motherboard and controlled by SpeedFan. At idle, it runs at 38-40 db according to Sound Meter. I'm not sure how reliable Sound Meter is, but the system is definitely quiet at idle. Under full load, though, its a different story. :D

Diarh34: I think it's OK, you could clean up the random cables along the bottom, tuck a few loose ends away. I think you'd benefit from a case upgrade, looks really cramped in there.

7/10

finally got some time to tidy up the cables on the back which is really not easy (at least for me) given a small case.

this is my first attempt at trying to be clean... you can search this thread for my previous entries lol.

Which way is the airflow going on that PSU? Wouldn't it be better to invert it so it draws fresh air from underneath?

And do you really need all those fans?

Air flow in the psu is in through top, out through the back. This will be resting on old carpet so I decided to keep it pointed up. As well as the cables going to the back of the case would be coming from the right side of the case instead of the left. That would make the PCI-e power cables tighter then I would like.

as for the fans, probably not. It's just the case comes with 2 140's and a 120. So I just had them. I'm going to pick up another corsair 120 pwm fan for the bottom front intake on the h100's radiator. Surprisingly it's still rather quiet. When the 7950 is at 1200/1525 those fans drown everything out anyway.

I would appreciate any suggestions though. I just remember reading that negative case pressure is better than positive, but I know nothing about this lol.

More Lian Li fun times.

Who ever says Lian Li has bad cable management isn't trying (and hasn't seen this thread)

Must be bad behind the mobo, right?

Then the top?

Still wouldn't say it's terrible.

Really takes me back, Coolermaster used to make cases using top materials and construction. Great rig you have there.

That they did. I wish they still made them they way they used to.

Don't take it as gospel, but I'm pretty sure thats a Tt chassis.

What you're referring to is the TT Tsunami and that was released a few years after the Wavemaster.

Where is your hard drive?

looks like theyre in the hard drive cage. if you look in the wire routing hole above the 24-pin power wires, you can barely see the two black sata cables coming out of it and going into the drive cage. im guessing since they dont stick out the back of the cage that theyre both 2.5" drives.

just installed psu/OD bays cover and my freshly made clear side panel on my Core 1000 build

PHAT

How did you manufacture the acrylic window? Do you have a portion of the original for backing for the screw holes?

Some great looking cables in here. Anyone using Corsair's individual sleeved cables psu cable kits? Or just diy?

You should route those cables through the front hard drive cages there are 2 round holes you can put the cables through.

I'll look into that. Is it possible to remove the hard drive / optical drive cages? I checked but there's no obvious screws. I have only 1 SSD and no optical drives. I'd rather just tape the SSD to the side of the case.

That there is an Antec 300. No round holes for cable routing. There are large holes behind the drive bay areas but the side panel closes flush... meaning they're not there for cable routing but access to the screw holes on that side.

Not without popping rivets.

As you can see, it makes things a bit messier. Just do the best you can to use the notches in the 3 1/2 bay areas for tiestrap anchors and take in all the slack you have in the cables nearby. About all you can do.

Can I just cut cables I don't use? For example, the PSU cables that I have no use for and can't remove because it's not modular.

you can but its not advised
you cant just use scissors and cut them.
i believe you have to solder the ends closed.

do some research on google or wait for someone who knows more about psus to awnser.

you can cut whatever you want as long as you close up the ends well. each wire just ends anyway, so cutting them shorter to the just end somewhere else isnt any different. the difference is that now they are in those neat plugs, which keep the wires inside from making contact with the case or components or each other. if you do choose to cut the wires youll have to do something to ensure that each of those wire ends is reliably insulated or you could possibly get a short at some point and ruin components. it's very unlikely you would get a short, and the ends are really easy to insulate with shrink wrap or electrical tape or something, but it would be a lot of work and void your warranty and also could prevent you from using the PSU in a future build if you took off a connector you need. i would leave it personally, and find another way to hide the cables.

EDIT: you CAN cut them with scissors, he's saying you can't just leave it at that you have to insulate them. and also, MAKE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED AND HAS BEEN UNPLUGGED FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE YOU CUT ANYTHING. that way you can be sure any capacitors are discharged. i would also recommend cutting them with plastic handled scissors or wire cutters if you have them or else wear a glove. cant be too careful. :)
