What games have truly epic storylines? I'm talking full-blown cinematic action in the view of the protagonist, amazing musical score, and twists and turns.

Say what you will about Call of Duty, but I enjoyed the Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 campaigns.

a couple of games come to mind:
FarCry 3 was pretty damn awesome and Borederlands 2

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
F.E.A.R.

Yes.I.like.games.with.lots.of.periods.

Edit: forgot Just Cause 2.

Not saying these are great storylines, but i enjoyed these single player games

Bulletstorm, highly underrated
Crysis!!!
Crysis Warhead
Far Cry
HL2
CoD MW
Company of Heroes
Command n Conquer Generals
Red Alert & Yuri's Revenge
BF3
Assassins Creed
Call of Duty original
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
Command & Conquer Renegade

Dark Souls
Dragon Age: Origins
Baldur's Gate & II
Planescape: Torment
Starcraft
The Witcher & The Witcher 2
STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl
Metro 2033
Mass Effects 1, 2 & 3
Batman: Arkham Asylum & City
Spec Ops: The Line

My favorite "epic" campaigns:

Half-Life 1 & 2
Freespace 1 & 2
Mass Effect 1
KOTOR
Dragon Age: Origins

Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm
KOTOR
Mass Effect 1
Those games all left my jaw hanging.
I'll throw in Morrowind for its deeply immersive atmosphere and storyline.

Epic storylines?

Baldur's Gate II
DA:O
Mass Effect (first one was the best)
Longest Journey
Morrowind had several great storylines
Many of the old AD&D gold box games
Grim Fandango

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting...

Just got done playing through Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3.

Truly an epic series and well worth the less than $60 I spent on all games and DLC and the almost 200 hours I put in.

I mean, seriously, you can't watch this then not want to play it/see what happens....

Far Cry for me. Just think this year is its 10th year anniversary. Damn....doesnt seem like its been that long

Gonna go with:

Call of Duty (the first)
Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer

Too many to list, but one that hasn't been mentioned yet:

Red Dead Redemption

Terrible that they never saw fit to release a PC version, and its the one game thats stopped me from selling my Xbox360 every time I've wanted to. My 360 literally exists only for the purpose of an RDR playback device, in case the mood strikes. When it first came out in may 2010 it was gaming crack. I loved GTA4, but RDR had an atmosphere that was indescribable.

Some of my favorites from over the years:

Metro 2033
Homeworld 1 & 2
Deus Ex 1 & HR
Half Life 1 & 2
Myth 1 & 2 (yes quite old but still a favorite)
Singularity
Darksides (haven't played 2 yet but the 1st's story line kept me playing through the crude PC controls)
Borderlands 1 & 2
Ghostbusters (story was created by Dan Ackroyd other original characters from the movies)
Max Payne 1 (2nd was okay-ish)
F.E.A.R 1 & 2
Batman AA & AC
pretty much any Blizzard single player experience...
KOTOR 1 & 2 (even SW:TOR has great stories if you want to play just for the experience)
Assasins Creed games
Portal 2 (I loved the backstory behind the old testing facilites etc)

I never go into any of the FarCry, Dead Space or Mass Effect games, but I heard they are good.
