-1- If deciding between two cards, one of which has two DVI ports and the other has one DVI and one HDMI, is it really a major positive to get the one with two DVIs? Or can't I just get an HDMI--->DVI adapter worst-case scenario if I end up owning an extra monitor with no HDMI?

-2- For this video card (ASUS ENGT430 DC SL/DI/1GD3 GeForce GT 430), how is it that the maximum possible resolution is 2560x1600? I assume the DVI port is dual-link? Or not necessarily?

Thank you.

1 - you shouldn't base your choice off performance not how many dvi ports there are. and their is little difference between dvi and hdmi other than hdmi provides sound. yes, you can always buy a dvi to hdmi adapter. so i wouldnt chose based off this.

2 - i doubt you will find a single monitor with a resolution higher than 2560x1600. even at this resolution, if your gaming, your going to most likely want more than one video card.

Sorry - I didn't do a good job of explaining #2.

What I should have said was: The card has three ports: DVI-Sub, DVI, and HDMI. There is no mention on newegg or on the Asus Web site about the DVI port being dual-link, but I assume the only way this monitor could achieve this 2560x1600 resolution would be if the DVI port were dual-link. Is that a fair assumption or not necessarily?

It's dual link.

Link gets borked. Evidently you can't link to geforce . com. I'm not even going to ask the back story on that.

geforce . com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-430/specifications
