With Ars's complaints, and then the same negitive comments here, I'm not going to bother with this one.

Uh... Ars Technica was not a review... it was just general elitist fanboy bitching.

And, did you even read the last paragraph in that review?

For all these avoidable limitations, SimCity is still a gorgeous and often captivating strategy game.

That's enough for me.

Looks like I will be starting my download at the crisp hour of 5AM EST tomorrow morning.

People who pre-ordered with Amazon, please let us know when you get your key. :)

I'm still reserving judgement. I can always change my mind going forward. But I can't change my mind after forking over my cash going backward.

Good review, definitely agree with the worries and concerns that they point out, just have to see how much of an impact its going to have and how quickly EA is able to patch the issues that crop up.

Nice, gives me some comfort in my own pre-order using that promo since a few others had their cancelled. I also feel the cancelled preloading is ridiculous, it really is in their best interest.

It actually may be a good things for us. The game servers are separate from servers used to DL the game. So if everyone preloaded, the game servers would get hit hard all at once. Doing no preload allows people to start playing at staggered times. Probably alleviating alot of launch day issues most games have when pre loading. Just look at Diablo 3.

I see the reviews, positive included, and read "short term satisfaction". I see people get tired quick, then "eagerly" awaiting the conveniently timed "expanded map size" DLC at the 6mo mark. Then at the 12-18mo mark "Subways and Highways" Expansion, with a few random DLC building/theme packs peppered in between.

Eventually, it'll be a great game (but still with the horrible online DRM), but it won't be until a massive amount of content is nickel+dimed out to suckers who are willing to pay full price for it all. Must be the same type of person that buys The Sims and all it's expansions/dlc's willingly.:confused:

Around Summer/Autumn 2014, I'll likely pick the complete game up for $20-40, then (censored) it to (censored) the DRM / Server requirements, and have a pretty good time.

Never pre-order, always wait. Hit up your backlog. Be patient.

The videos floating around youtube really make me excited for this game. I havent really been excited for a game in sooo long. I really hope I can find a good deal for this. I said I would boycott EA games and have but Ill make an exception for SC5 if its good and if I can find a deal because I havent really bought a $60 game in a long ass time.

Man I hope you are wrong because I absolutely hate nickle and dime BS. This is the reason I didn't purchase Dead Space 3. 3.49$ for better scavenger robot? F that in the A.

Pre-ordered on Origin like two hours ago. Wish I could pre-load. Wanted to get in a quick game before bed tonight. Guess i'll have to stay up late as hell.

Last week EA announced they would be putting microtransactions in EVERY game going forward I think. So yea this will be the last game I buy from them, until they hit the bargain bin with all major DLC included.

Yup, Fuq EA. I will not support this BS, but sadly this will be the norm until others stop:

You can expect to see more microtransactions like those found in Dead Space 3. According to Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen, the company has decided to build some aspect of small convenience payments into all of its games going forward.

If they're going to try and pull this shit they better start charging $30 for games.

So is the Deluxe Edition worth the 70?

its 80, and thats purely upto you.

it has 3 city sets and landmarks that go with them and i think possible transportation item with them also

if you buy them each city set 1 at a time its $10 more than getting digital deluxe

I hate Origin. A lot.

Like when I orderd BF3, all I get is "payment authorization failed" every time I try to order. I get it with 3 different CCs. I've tried it from home, and from work and even from my 4g connection on my phone! I've also tried it over my VPN. Failure every time. This same thing happened to me when I tried to buy BF3 and the solution was to turn off my VPN and order using my regular IP address. However, now I don't even have VPN right now

Its like they don't want my money. Fuck, it makes me rage.

I guess I could order it at Amazon but I really wanted the double decker buses. Fucking Origin.

Ghey, looks like 12am PST it is for Amazon orders. Way past my bedtime.

On the bright side, Amazon just sent me a $5 promo code for my Tomb Raider order I made by mistake and then canceled.

Depends on how far they're willing to push the micro-transaction business model, it could become buying a stripped down version of the game for a super cheap price then having to micro transact your way to the full intended experience, plus new micro txn offers will be offered as dlc. Or they could just leave it as buying stupid little addons like they did in DS3 that normal gamers dont really care about. I'd rather see a community driven micro transaction system where devs produce new content and mods and stuff based on community feedback. That opens up alot of possibilities in the industry. E.A if you're reading this please hire me as a business development manager :)

Why the hell can't it just be released at midnight?

Guess I'm staying up until 3 am. At least to make sure the download started. Then I'll crash.

It is. They are saying it's live on their twitter feed and they state 12am EST all over their forums. Servers must be getting hammered.

So how's it going for you Origin buyers? You already get keys or still waiting? Slow ass downloads? Nothing at all?

Pre load... you cant even post load for christ sake. its taking a few min just to access my games tab, their severs are so overloaded......

Got the email with the key and instructions saying it should be waiting for me to hit download in the My Games section... yeah right. Guess what? Not working.

my game is processing a "large file". It's retarded! Won't be playing it any time soon.

"Slow Network" error trying to load my games library. Looks like their servers are being obliterated. Still no email with my key or an order update either.
