For those wondering - been a bit out of pocket. Got engaged on valentine's day. The dual spicy E5 system I was hoping to fold with decided to go haywire and keeps eating Ubunutu installations which has been fun. On the slower side been working with the Intel Atom Centerton SoC in a 1U with the Supermicro 5017A-EF! 16w under load!

Was going to try a SMP unit on it (2C/4T) but benchmarks thus far can be clocked with a sun dial.

No matter hard drive or SSD 12.04 and 12.10 installs upon reboot are going into panic and not booting. Swapped the RDIMMs also.

What kind of 'panic'? I assume it is having trouble mounting a filesystem? If so, it sounds like the initrd module is not being built correctly for the sata controller on the board.

C60x? Done tons of installs on that platform and it's not exactly a new nor niche controller.

drop back to 10.10 or 10.04??

I can also verify that C60x should take an ubunutu install without problems
