Windows 8 - Something Happens Hourly

I installed Windows 8 a couple days ago on my SSD. Exactly one hour after booting up, and every hour after that, it sounds like something is accessing my data HDD for 5-10 seconds.

It doesn't matter in the least, but I'm curious what it is. Any ideas? I looked through Task Scheduler and didn't find anything.

Gotta provide way more info. Anything could be accessing it, Win7 and Win8 are freshly installed with quite a few things accessing...

I don't really have any more info. Fresh install, haven't installed many programs, and it never happened in 7. It's due to happen again in five minutes.

Considering it happens every hour on the nose, I thought it would be pretty easy to track down, but it's proving difficult.

Wow, I figured it out. And it has nothing to do with Windows 8.

Now I just feel silly. Sorry. :(

I had a SSD so it doesn't make any noises. Ignore it. It doesn't matter if it runs fine.

Hah, I'm just glad I read through this thread and somebody realized that you can't hear SSD drives being read/written unless maybe you were Superman and could both hear and distinguish the electrical noise.

OP mentions data HDD.
assumptions can be made that "data HDD" is not the SSD.

I would assume the drive was spinning down after an hour of non-activity... Or spinning back up.

Holy crap, forgot all about this thread.

It was Sickbeard doing its hourly search. Somehow I never heard it until recently, and just falsely attributed it to my newly installed Windows 8.
