My crisys with Crysis 3

GTX 650 Ti 1GB: $125. GTX 650 Ti 2GB: $155. GTX 660: $210. You seem to have a problem with recognizing what is within the OP's territory and what is not.
I should have said puts him closer to 660 territory. and again the 660 comes with a $150 bundle as opposed to the $75 bundle on the 650ti. keep it or sell it but the bundle will have more value on the 660 either way. in the end the 660 is the smarter choice if he can just save up a bit more.

OP - I did not go through the 3 pages of discussions, but if your budget is like 240, get the 7950 (~280-290 after MIR) and sell games for $60 or so to bring it all down to 230-ish.

For that money there is no better card than a good oc'ing 7950.

For a tighter budget the other recommendations are good.

Where is this link for the $150.00 bundle on the 660? I have searched in google products but found nothing. :D

OK, but according to many, that is just a crap bundle since it is only to buy toys inside those games. Now, I know I can put them on sale here and on ebay but how much is that going to bring me back vs how long to sell them off to individuals that may like those games... at least I know that with an MiR, after 3 weeks I will get that money back.

This is a bit confusing but I like it, I have something to do now, I can also take my time waiting for a good deal (new or Used) and as soon as I find what I am looking for, I'll pull the pin.

save up for the 660 if you can.. look on the deals websites. Better bang for the buck.

You said $150 would take food from your kids, so I don't know if that was the max or something lower. 650ti for $150, 650 for $100 to $149. Those are your only Nvidia options.

IMO... You shouldn't buy a new card. You should be making a WTB thread in the FS forum. You can get a GTX 570 for $150 and it will perform directly between a 660 and 660ti. Ignore anything over 1Gb, it will be pretty worthless at your resolution with a card on your budget.

I don't think most people on this forum pay for their own groceries. They don't understand what its like to go to the register and not have enough money to buy the formula in your cart.

I have a Gigabyte windforce 650Ti 2GB in my HTPC. It plays most games decent. It's not a powerhouse, but at 1920x1080 it holds itself well enough. I've only played some of my games on it (batman AA/AC, metro 2033, WoW).
It gets a little choppy on high settings, but on medium it plays very smooth. For the $150 area it seems solid. My only fault with the 650Ti is no SLI support. If you could SLI two of them, I bet they would be awesome.

Which you could buy a used GTX 570/560Ti or AMD 6950/6970 for around the same price.

I thought about making a WTB post on the Fors Sale or Trade but there are just to many options I have right now and I am still unclear on whether 1Gb is enough or 2GBs is the way to go.

I'll think about really hard and come up with a WTB that is not against the rules and perhaps help me and another member as well.

I was a little dramatic when I said that I was going to take food from my kids but, budget is tight and even though I provide for my family and need an escape from reality, priorities have always been top for me... I just have to try to balance both at this moment.

After a few weeks and saving a bit more of money, It has come down to these 3 choices, I have until the 31st to make my decision because I don't want to loose the Rebate... I just don't know enough about these brands to make an educated decision.

Prices are within 5 to 10 bucks of each other so that is not a deal breaker, I just want to know if I choose any one of them if I am going to be ok.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125443 ... GIGABYTE GV-N660OC-2GD $187.98 after MiR

it not worth upgrading for Crysis 3 :)
but yes, time for the 260 to go :)

don't go below 660ti on NVidia.. sub that they are sure shit.. even gaming @ 720 (which u are not)

I would go with the Asus card myself, best chance of a good overclock. If you want to stick closer to your original $150 budget the newly released 650ti Boost can be had in a 2GB model, it is faster than the regular 650ti by a good margin.

This is crappy advice, you didn't read his posts about his budget, and you also have no idea what you are talking about.

I know you said you want team green but red has the better deals. The 7870 LE Tahiti is the best deal out there right now (the powercolor myst edition has been $209 with no rebate several times over the last 2 months) plus you get the amd game bundle that you can sell fairly easily for $50. You could always go with a 7850 though as they have been in the $160 range with the same game bundle. Don't waste your time with a 650ti as it isn't much better than the 260 you already have. I have 260s in 2 rigs of mine and they are great cards for how much you can get them for and I run relatively low resolutions on those rigs (like 1440x900 and 1440x1050 i think) maybe you should take a look at tom's gpu hierarchy chart to get a better idea. The 660gtx is a good option for you too but getting and selling the game bundle makes the 7870 LE or 7850 better AND cheaper options.

As stated in my last post, my budget has increased, didn't specify but is now up to 200, even if I have to wait a few weeks for the MiR to hit me back.

AMD and I just don't get along, hence, why I have opted for the Nvidia. The selling of the game I get in the bundle may or may not yield 50 bucks and with Nvidia I can also try to sell that 150 points for a bit of money and this way pay a little less as well.

Thanks.

P.S.: I am talking to a member here that has a used 2GB Gigabyte GTX660 OC, if he gives me a good deal, I may go for it, if not... the Asus will be the one.

I recently bought a Asus GTX 660 and am very happy with it. It's very quiet, more so than most other graphics cards I've had, and it plays every game with ease. I can't speak to how it'll run Crysis 3 as I've not played that one, but the Asus one is a solid choice.

Good luck with your negotiations moto!!

Thanks Inches... most appreciated~!

Well, I am guessing I will soon find out... 2 more days to purchase (if nothing used comes along), and a few more days for me to get it from the Egg people... I should be playing it next weekend! :D

Sorry, perhaps a stupid question but I see that a lot of you guys play your pc games on a TV and I am wondering if I may ask a few questions... like:

Do you have a PC table where you put in your Keyboard and Mouse close to the TV?

Do you play with a wireless controller?

I'm old old school and I use KB + Mouse, can't really use controllers and don't really want to but playing a game on my Samsung TV from the comfort of my Bed (about 12 feet from TV) is something I am contemplating... I already have a wireless KB but I don't know how easy it would be to play with a wireless mouse at that distance or what kind of a back plate to use in order to hold both the KB & M.

You shouldn't have a problem if its a good quality mouse. Most of them are RF and have a good solid range of about 30ft. I would probably not recommend it if you plan to go online.

660 isn't a bad card at all. I buffed mine up a little. It's a Zotac ZT-60901-10M.

I did a BIOS edit on my GTX 660 with the below tool. I flashed it in from a DOS prompt
using a bootable USB drive + nvflash. I set the USB drive as my first boot device in my
mobo BIOS before I flashed so if my card got "bricked" I could easily blind
flash it back to my original BIOS.

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...25-f%FCr-GTX-6xx-Reihe-680-670-660-650-UPDATE

I set my def power to 139, my max power to 146, my memory
to 3398, and my boost limit to 1280.

Now the card does its best to hold an 1189MHz boost clock at "stock".
Sometimes it drops to 1176 or 1163, however 1189 is very common.

Now the only thing I need to do with overclocking software is increase
the power limit. That's it.

If you use it make sure you go under the boost table tab and set the
max table clock to match the boost limit you selected under the common tab.

Some cards may be able to handle a 1293MHz boost limit or greater. You'll need to experiment.
Mine can't handle more than a 1280 limit. A 1293 limit causes the card to boost to 1215. That's too
much for my particular 660.

I am not one to experiment with OCs, I did it once before, a long time ago, and I had issues so I quit... I am content with playing my games with whatever the GPU/CPU can give me as some games are finicky enough, what with the majority of them being console ports lol

There's an EVGA that popped today under 200 so I am going to have to add to the options... I hate it when I have to many options but my GTX 260 is an EVGA card (as well as my mobo) and I have never had issues with them.

Thats too bad, the 660 is usually a pretty good clocker. My cards run at 1202mhz solid all day every day, and the memory easily ran up to a +700 offset for 3500mhz/7000 effective.

My cards ran around 993mhz stock, and I got a huge boost from the overclock.

Here is my best 3Dmark11 run to date: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6288239

Nvidia has just dispatched their new GTX 650ti Boost to counter AMD's release of HD 7790 in the battlefield of mid range cards. As the name suggests it's an stepped up version of the 650ti and a 2GB version is available. Perhaps this is a card that OP may want to consider looking into.

Price wise I imagine I would be happier but, what about playing wise? Sure, considering I am stepping up from a GTX260, any of those cards would be a step up but, if price wise the difference is minimal, I would consider going with the 660 and not the 650 ti... I think?

Edit... google product shows a price of about 175-180 for the 650 Ti Boost, compare that to the 185-195 on the 660 I believe I am still better off with the 660?

A difference of only $20? That doesn't sound right >.>

If you actually found a gtx 660 going for less than $200, that's an awfully sweet deal

I have and I posted those a couple of post back... matter of fact, Newegg.com has the Galaxy, MSI, EVGA and Asus GTX 660 OC 2 GBs for less than 200... of course this is with 20 MiR

I know I am a procrastinator when it comes to purchases, even when I have money to burn... sometimes though, it pays to procrastinate.

Even though there was no Nvidia Game points to be had, I was able to pull the pin on this card and I am going to pay $ 168.98 after a 20 bucks MiR.

I want to thank every one for putting up with my nagging and helping out nonetheless :D
