Warm? Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition $699 @ Microcenter

Yes, that is what it means. I own the machine and can say that 4 months after buying it, am still in love with it. The screen is exceptionally good FWIW.

How does the 7730 handle most games? I am about to pull the trigger on this, and that is the only thing making me hesitate. And how are the noise levels?

Not a bad price but will it play Crysis (the original one).

It won't play recent games at full res (1080p) fluidly at highest quality, with few exceptions. Here is a practical reply with no charts. I prefer a fluid playing experience over an extra notch of whatever. Choppiness kills a game more than anything for me.

Skyrim - I play it with some 30+ mods (which obviously slows things down), mostly high-res textures. I play it at 1366x768 at High, with 16xAF and get 40+FPS outside (with plenty of shadows), and more inside.

Batman Arkham City Benchmark - avg 33FPS at 1080p.

Deus Ex HR - I play this at 1600x900 for added fluidity. I get at least 40+FPS at all times.

XCom Enemy Unknown - 1080p, all options on, completely fluid even cut-scenes. I only mention, as I love the game, and deserves mention.

Mass Effect 1-2 - 1080p all the way, no problems. I have no.3 (or rather a serial I need to use), but have not tested it.

I should add that when playing I use a very light OC (quite safe), going from 575/900 to 620/950 with a slightly better fan profile. It is not noisy FWIW, nor does the keyboard or the like get warm. The backlit keyboard is a true pleasure for very dark environments.

Thank you, SubtleOne! That is just what I wanted to know. I am going to go ahead and grab one of these. My past two laptops have been HP, and while performance is fine, their cooling solutions leave much to be desired. Time to try a Dell.
