With all of the hype being heard lately about Google Glass, you had to know an announcement of some kind would be forthcoming. According to The Verge, Google Glass will be hitting consumer shelves much quicker than previously thought.

This time, a Google official has said directly that the company is targeting an end-of-year release date, so there’s little room for different interpretations there, and the credibility of the source isn’t up for debate

My opinions on future products are usually dead wrong but I just can't see why anybody would want one of these things. But then again I I thought texting was a stupid fad that wouldn't last a year so I obviously don't have a great career in investments coming up.

Texting? What's that?

Google Glass...the next step in technological revolution or next flop?

Very cool, stuff like this might look strange to us now but in time I think everyone here will see the great use of this device.

What great use? or use even for that matter beyond amusing gadget? I love new technology, but I just can't see the use for these for the average person. I see lots of value to say...the military but not much beyond that. If I am missing something, feel free to indulge me.

Google glass better know your voice or you can troll people using the them. By speaking commands into other peoples google glass.

Thats not how it works. You make the solution, then find the problem! Like Windows 8, no sane person wanted to use a touchscreen interface on their desktop, but now at least 3 people are doing that right now! :D

Anyone that has to do tech work could use an instant handsfree manual, same if you want to do a fast check of some ISO, ASME codes... Heck, even something as simple as cooking could be done with a digital recipe... if you read it in a tablet, you could potentially read it with Google Glass.

That said, i don't think that i would be buying them on the first few iterations :p

Yeah the possibilities are endless imagine always being able to record the police without them seeing you hold a camera. First thing I thought of.

Any true geek would want these. :)

Here, take my geek card, then. I find those silly, to say the least. Next is google WC where then can probe my piss and shit and sell their findings to the marketing cretins.

I want...the future version of these glasses. I'm in, have to start somewhere.

Wow ... we just seem to become more Borg like every year ... I like some of the augmented reality features for smartphones but I am just not in a hurry to become a terminator or Borg with feedback flashing on my glasses or eyeballs ;)

I like these for the simple fact if I want to record something I can without taking my focus away, I also like being able to have a readily available map/manuel/anything.

I'm going to buy the first iteration, just to support these, hopefully they get a lot of support.
