NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Congratulations on hitting the goal! I am glad to have donated to such a worthy cause. Nothing is better than mini-ITX and aluminum!

Not sure if you thought this far ahead but if you do go into production will you sell them independently or try to go through places like Amazon or Newegg? I know a little company who sells mini-ITX cases who'd be interested in stocking a few :).

A little off topic:

Does anyone know where to get super low profile PSU AC cord adapters like used in the renders for this case, and in silverstones cases?

I'm guessing it was Linus. He'd make it back easily enough with the revenue from a video review.

I started this thread because I just wanted an aluminum version of the SG05.

Then I found out that Necere has been designing computer cases for 10+ years (www.sudhian.com/forums/index.php/topic,37251.0.html).

I figure I can get a computer case and help him take his hobby to the next level. That's what kept us going and M1 is the result.

That aside, we don't know. We didn't think we can get this far. I guess we'll figure it out as we go. We will probably consult you guys. It's kind of an adventure for all of us.

Now that Steve actually linked to the IG campaign, maybe a link in the OP is no longer off-limit?

Is that coke can really built to scale in autocad or 3d studio max for this render?

Becuse i need a small pc for my 3d printer that can stuff a good sized gpu in it.

That's kind of the point in putting a can of coke there, for scale reference..

You'd think so, right? But I've actually never measured the model before (it's not mine), and it turns out it's a bit off. It's a little bigger than it should be, according to the measurements I can find online, which I suppose makes the M1 look slightly smaller than it really is. Hope you guys don't think I was out to trick you

The can is about 3mm too tall and 10mm too wide.

man rate this going he might not need another to do another campaign

Wow congratulations guys! I've been paying attention to this thread since it was about 2 pages long and I'm impressed by the progress. Through the years I've seen custom case projects come and go and it is awesome to see this one coming to fruition. I'll admit that I was skeptical at first... these things usually start with a render, a bunch of people saying they'll buy it, the project being too expensive to produce, then it fizzles out. Granted, crowd-sourcing was not an option in the past, but hats off to Necere and Wahaha for making this happen.

Front page caught my attention. I was oblivous this was going on. Glad to see a great design. Can't wait to see this produced. This will be my first Mini atx case I buy. Hope my donation helps!

Haha! Look at that, the 60 degree angles on this case Necere was using back in 2003. Engineering easter eggs? Nuts!

Not only is this going to be an AMAZING case, but this while ordeal will go down in history as being proof of what you can do when you set your mind to it!

haha tom's said that if you give $10 you will get your case in april, not get on the list for a case in april. haha. no way that hundreds of these are going to be made and shipped in 2 months. :p silly toms. anyway necere/wahaha, might wanna make a disclaimer or something on the page saying that their names will be on the list in april, not that they will be getting a case in april, as it can be a little unclear if you dont read carefully. dont want any upset funders thinking youre going to build prototypes, ship them across the ocean, test all sorts of hardware, make the necessary changes, and then build and ship hundreds of revised cases out to customers all in 2 months.

They think $160 is expensive? What kind of cases are the fine folks at Tom's buying for their PCs? ;)

Probably just $100 cases. I haven't bought a really expensive case in a while, considering my last case was an LL A05B ($100) and my current case is a LL Q11 ($100). Before the A05 though, I was rocking a Koolance V1000, which was $450. If you're a real "enthusiast", you gotta pay to play!

160 is a good deal if thats what this case will sell for
i payed full price for my 800D when it came out

im willing to pay for a good case if it has what i want
imo these guys need to go talk to Corsair not Lian Li

Man I remember those things, they were so cool but I wasn't able to afford them when they were popular. Too young and broke.

$200 would be a good deal for this case in my opinion. I've spent more on single graphics cards alone, and cases are arguably the most important part of a build.

yea id go up to 250 depending in finish of the case

love my 800D and i dont need ever needing another case for my desktop again lol

Yup. Many people think computer cases are like tires on a car. All that matters is the horsepower under the hood. When in reality, it's the little things, like suspension and tires, that really make your car fast.

You can rock an i7 with a GTX Titan, but if your airflow is horrible, both will be throttling all night long.

Lian Li is helping the enthusiast community by supporting this product. We cannot price our product to compete with their prices or produce in large quantities that would hurt their market share.

Lian Li price their mITX case with enthusiast GPU support between $110-$170.

We have to respect our manufacturer's business and pricing.

The same courtesy would apply to SilverStone and other potential manufacturers.

The premium is for consistency in production:
To make the smallest case possible, every millimeter matters. It's very demanding for production consistency and tolerance, otherwise components wont fit.

Wow, nice work. I've been looking for a decent mini-itx case and this one looks great. Unfortunately, been recently laid-off and need to watch my $. Figures.

id rather you talk to Corsair and bump the price up to 200 or 250
imo it would still be worth it
any one that says your pricing to high its nuts if any thing your pricing low

Does Corsair manufacture their own stuff or contract out? What advantage would they have over a large-scale manufacturer like Lian Li?

I vote no thanks!

Corsair most likely doesn't manufacture their stuff anyway. Leave it to the guys who's sole business is cases.

every case Corsair has made has been better then any thing Lian Li has ever done
it might not be Corsairs sole business but they are better then every one else at it

You can't just say, "OH THEY'RE JUST BETTER!" Please provide some real talking points.

Moreover, when you say that Corsair has made better things than Lian Li, are you comparing apple to apples, or are you comparing a LL $60 case to Corsair $300 case?
