No, it’s not what you think. The Apple Store in question has been in business for 20 years in the UK without a hitch selling apple products……real apple products like apples and cider. No strong arm tactics by Apple Corporation to change the name, only the incessant phone calls to repair the other Apple's products. :D

"I've had complaints about broken iPods and dropped iPads and Apple Macs. It can be very funny, but some people are very rude and they slam the phone down," he told the BBC.

it's a true testament to the overall level of intelligence of Apple users when something like this occurs.

Sure there are some smart people that use Apple products -- but when you have rude retarded people in this case dragging the average way way down for the group... i just have to say "HAH"

If I was the owner -- I'd have setup some sort of automated answering system with a specific number users with broken apple hardware could press that would route them to a message saying something along the lines of "sod off - you ignorant piece of crap we sell delicious edible apples, not repair over priced hipster accessories, so fek you and fek your mum" <click>

(it's funnier if you imagine it being said in a jolly ole' english accent"

I used to get calls for a Papa John's since my phone number was one digit off, should that be news too?

This subset of apple users is probably self-selecting (biased toward the less-intelligent) to some extent, since to reach his phone number they already had to be dumb enough to call the wrong business...

They don't break, they just work. Except when they don't. Work for you, that is. They're still working, just against you.

Makes me want to call an apple store and ask them how much a 3lb bag of apples and a gallon of cider costs.

I would have just opened a business to fix apple products sounds like he had the customers just needed a place to fix their junk.

If it was my store I would have set up the phone to auto answer and make the first question:

If you are calling about technical support for an Apple computer product, please press 1

Then route the caller through about fifty questions like "If your iPod is pink, press 7." After the circuitous routing, make the final response:

"We are very sorry but we only sell real apples, the ones that grow on trees. We have been deliberately wasting your time because anyone who is stupid enough to call our shop to have their Apple products serviced is someone who should be laughed at and made fun of. Have a nice day!

Oh, and the second question on the auto answering system would be:

If you are smart enough to notice that we sell real apples, as in the ones you can eat, and not Apple computers, please hold for a moment and one of our employees will be right with you.

:D

Back before Katrina, my old landline phone number was like one digit off from on of our local radio stations. If they had any kind of big "call in" event, I would get a bunch of calls. Once I got a little older (teens) I used to prank them.

I would have established a partnership with a reputable apple repair shop and make a commission off referring all those calls to them. Win win..

I thought Apple products didn't break?

The centerpiece of the Apple Store is a repair and support facility. Any piece of hardware has the potential of breaking, Apple's is at about the same rate as Lenovo and Dell. What their customers like is that Apple's service is good and very easily accessible.

Ugh, my first thought was that Apple (computers) was paying people to call them with the intent of the store changing their name.

My first thought was that the Apple store was giving out his number as their service number out of a perverse attempt at lolz.

I have been to the shop. Its about 15 miles from where I live. We did wonder at the time if anyone would be dumb enough to call them.....
