Ok, I bit the bullet and bought win8pro while it was on sale. Not wanting to use it on my main rig I put it on my aging laptop. So far, metro aside, I've been pretty impressed. Most everything is running faster (probably due to going from Vista home prem 32bit to Win8pro 64bit) with the lone exception being my wireless connection. I'm getting about half the download speed I used to get. Here are the specs:

laptop:
Dell Inspiron 1525
2 gig DDR2
5400 rpm 140gig hard drive

ISP
Cox Cable Premium @ 25/3 (get 32/5-8)
Netgear DNG2000 wireless N router with stock firmware.

before I upgraded windows I would get close to 30 Mbits/sec down and 5 up, which wasn't too far off what I got on cat5. Now I only get about 15 max on down but still get about 5-8 up. I've tried this in multiple browsers, while charging or on battery, etc. I've made sure its not using a generic driver, made sure the power performance settings were set to max, to no avail. Anyone else have any idea's or is it just a driver issue?

Only problem is that Dell never made drivers for win7, highest they went was Vista 64bit. I tried to switch to those, no avail. I didn't think to look for win7 drivers for that wireless card, might try that later.

I couldn't my USB WiFi to work at all until I installed with Win7 Drivers as Admin... That was the only issue I had moving to Win8 Pro...

Ok, installed the vista drivers, and no change. I guess until (or if I should say) updated drivers come out for my wireless card I'm sol. Don't get me wrong, 15 Mbit/sec isn't bad, and not like I use my laptop for netflix or anything, but still a bit of a letdown that it dropped my download speed in half when everything else is faster.

you could always go directly to Intel, or whatever brand wireless chip is in there, and download the drivers directly rather than waiting on Dell.
